All Welcome
It had only been a few days since they'd left. Travelling through the tundra was just as difficult as she remembered but she couldn't bring herself to care, and she figured that @Delight couldn't, either. Their minds were elsewhere; regardless of what they'd bickered about before, the importance of finding their daughters was one thing that the two of them could agree upon.

The first borders were quick to appear. Queenie hadn't picked up on the place before so she figured that it must have been new. Ever been here? she called over her shoulder to Delight, turning to see where he was. The location was foreboding enough for her to hope that the girls had steered clear of whatever group this was. She didn't know what threats they were hiding but she did know that the girls wouldn't have stood a chance.

his depature is abrupt, unplanned; he does not stop to tell @Alarian or @Seabreeze. something about queenie brings out his most impulsive nature -- but this time, he'd argue, it's justified -- it's his children's lives on the line, after all. if it weren't for the heavy gloom that hangs over the task, delight would swear this was just like old times.

he allows queenie to take the lead easily, quicker to trust her instincts than his own. after all -- even with what she'd done -- he is not a sterling example himself. between alarian and the illness he's barely been there when they needed him most. no wonder his brave, bold, lonely daughters had left.

"i haven't," delight calls back, catching up to queenie, his thoughts following his paws. there is pack here -- he glances to his -- to queenie, and throws out a call -- the last thing they need on top of this is hostility between bracken and a neighboring pack.

(@Siarut/@Takiyok/whoever wants to pop in from ikt is welcome~)

I assume this is happening after Taki visited brs? If not, just let me know, and I'll edit! :)

The call from the borders was unfamiliar and stopped her patrol. Taki turned and began heading that way. Sia would probably be there as well, and she didn't look forward to standing next to him and pretending there wasn't friction between them. Still, she may be injured and constantly racked with guilt and resentment, but she wouldn't slack on her responsibilities. Being in the presence of the source of her guilt and resentment wasn't exactly the most ideal way to spend her time, but whatever; she would just have to push it aside. She was good at that, though, pushing whatever was too heavy to deal with into the deepest part of her mind and avoiding it for as long as she could.

She approached the pair wearing a slightly more grumpy expression than normal. Her neck was a mess of scabs and pink, healing flesh, and she shook her head a little at the itching sensation as she stopped just in front of them. She immediately recognized one of the leaders from Bracken Sanctuary, and she offered him a curt nod in greeting, before offering a similar greeting to the stranger. Do you need something? she asked, looking at the pair expectantly. Why else would they be here?

phone post! Tak you can assume that you know Nanook has “passed” I’m going to do a backdated thread notifying the pack later today

The world took on a new prospective after the events with Nanook, he no longer cared much about the transgression between himself an Ceara. And he found it surprisingly easy to forgive his little sister thinking. Although he had yet to tell her that, this was her punishment for going behind his back. For violating his trust. She could stew for a few more days.

He had been absent the day after Nanook, his grief struck him harder than he thought possible. He realized in this time at Ceara hadn’t meant as much to him as he had thought, with time perhaps, but not now.

The call pulled at his anger though, he had no time for anymore disturbances within his family. The recent loss of a close packmate was enough. Arriving to find the unknown pair and his sister, he nodded at Tak, having not caught her scentence he assumed she had already greeted them.

She looked upset, just as he did. His natural displeased look settled on his face, as he waited for the new comers to answer whatever query the Malguk has put before them.

Neither of them had ever approached the territory which did add some edge to the situation, but Queenie continued on ignoring it. Two wolves approached them at the border and to each was given a cordial nod. Our girls are missing, she announced, voice level and smooth, You wouldn't happen to have seen them? Can't really miss 'em. In fact, it was just how noticeable the girls really were that made Queenie so nervous.

yep this is a bit after that taki thread! :) thanks for joinin

the first of two wolves approaches and delight's stomach drops. of course it would be the woman he'd just made a fool of himself in front of. and from her expression, the chancellor can only assume she remembers his foolish face. the next to arrive, a similarly-visaged white male, looks equally unhappy -- is it him? for a panic-striken moment he assumes so, and while his more rational side counters -- he hadn't been that big of an idiot, had he? -- his anxiety remains spiked.

thankfully queenie is quick to answer; grateful, he nods. "they're less than half a year old," he explains, unable to hide the slight tremble to his voice, "one's very spotted like her mother, and the other is spotted but closer to me in appearance." queenie is right, after all -- they are rather distinctive children. hopefully that will make finding them easier -- there can't be that many merle children running about parentless.

The malguk tensed a little at Sia's arrival. She gave a stiff nod in return, careful to hide any other indication that she was not the most pleased to be in his presence; outsiders didn't need to know the two leaders of the pack were not currently getting along. Seeing him also reminded her of Nanook; she knew their packmate was dead, had followed the same trail and found the place where she had clearly met her end. She felt bad for Sia. She knew her brother was close to the Nanook, and it made it hard for her to be mad at him. Now he was here looking all grumpy and sad, which was not like him. Usually, he was pretty stoic in the presence of strangers, so it tugged at her a little that he was so affected by their pack member's death. But it was not the time to be thinking about her Sia shit. Taki focused her attention back on the pair at their border.

She furrowed her brow in concern when the spotted woman asked if they had seen any lost pups lately. It was not that long ago that the morningside leader was here asking them the exact same thing. What was with the wolves around here losing their children? The weird bracken leader further explained what the kids looked like, but the descriptions didn't ring a bell. She shook her head before answering, I have not seen any children. Her gaze flicked to her brother, and she raised an eyebrow in question, wondering if his answer would be different. She knew it wouldn't be, though. Like Taki, had Sia found lost pups, he would have brought them inside the territory to keep them safe.

Was their territory a land that looked welcoming to lost children. It seemed to Siarut that eventually the entirety of the Teekon Wilds would one day approach their borders looking for their wayward children. He suppressed the idea of incompetence that flashed through his thoughts. He had no reason the burst Takiyok's bubble and so refrained from using his own voice, instead he gave a firm shake to his head, answering his sister's silent question.

last post from me <3

he ignores whatever tension they express at his and queenie's presence, at their probing question, at whatever judgements they might have (well-deservedly). all that matters is the answer: no. frustration rises in him -- he bites it down, casting his eyes to the ground as he nods. "i see," delight says softly, "thank you anyway."

there is no use in lingering -- he's not here to be diplomatic. nudging queenie's shoulder gently, the chancellor says, "if you do see them -- i hope you can send them home to us." of course he has not yet realised the sanctuary is on the move and so even if they did materialize at the glacier, takiyok and her wolves would be unable to actually locate them. but in the moment it's one of very few hopes he has.

with a final resigned nod, delight departs with queenie, loosely back in the direction of the sanctuary.

Her brother confirmed what she already knew--that he hadn't seen any children running around without parents. She nodded at the the pair. If we see them, we'll be sure to escort them back to your territory, she answered.

The pair took their leave, and Taki watched them silently for a few moments. She no longer wished to be here and in her brother's presence, so the malguk turned to head back towards the mountain where she could find solitude, briefly glancing in Sia's direction as she passed, but offering him nothing else.
