The girl wakes late in the day, lethargic and fogged; she feels this way often lately, though she doesn't know why. Some part of her notices that her siblings seem more energetic, stronger — but that brings her no closer to making the connection, so she says nothing to her mother. She hardly notices her father's absence, in truth, as he'd never been around much to begin with — but she notices the way it affects Valette, so she tries to avoid upsetting her mother.
She avoids eating, too. Food has become a strange concept, fascinating and repulsive — each day she creeps into the forest, quiet as a whisper and still as a stone, and watches the creatures meant to sustain her. She watches the way their breath expands their body, the quiver of their noses as they scent the air, the darting eyes and waning pupils as their gazes rake over her. Many run — but some have accepted her as little threat, so long as she only watches. They seem such a stark contrast from the stiff, cold forms tucked in the cache — it puzzles her in how simple it seems. It makes more sense than anything she's learned in her short time, but still so little.
These thoughts aren't on her mind as she crawls from her sleeping place. Rather, she's thinking about her siblings; she spends much of her time on her own, but lately she feels an odd sort of craving. She finds herself wishing for companionship. Not so unusual for a pup — but she's not entirely used to it herself. Feeling a little out of sorts, she sets off in search of @Arlette or @Merrit — or both.

Arlette was doing surprisingly well, especially if one looked back to how she started in life. She had been frail and extremely tiny, however, with her outgoing nature and endless curiosity she was often eager to try things first. It helped her. She was growing rapidly, perhaps she would never catch up with her siblings, but at least she showed that she was ready to live. The girl was still curious about the stones, yet still wary after Greyback told her not to dig there.

She was submissive enough to not even dare to try it again. She liked to please the adults. She liked it when they were happy with her. Mother had taught them about hunting, but it didn't prove as easy as mother had explained and shown them. After a few hours of trying even Arlette's mood had soured and she gave up. She went to lie down by the stones, where she saw her mother often watch the bison, she really didn't know why her mother did that. She ought to ask it one time. Then she heard footsteps and look up. "Keen!" she grinned, her mood restored and eagerly stepping up to greet her sister.

It's not difficult to find Arlette, thankfully. She smiles in response to her sister's enthusiastic greeting, tail wagging as she steps forward to kiss her cheek. Then she spins in place, using her muzzle to gesture in a random direction without any preamble. Let's go, She urges her sister, taking a few steps forward. She pauses and glances back to see if Arlette will follow — but she doesn't have any reason to think she won't. There are many differences between the two sisters, but they share their intense curiosity. There are few things Keen loves more than exploring — exploring with her siblings is certainly among them, though lately her lethargy has made her reluctant to do much of anything. Today, though, she feels like she needs to do something fun, or she might... explode, or something. And that would be gross.

Arlette was quickly on her feet when her sister told her to let's go. She didn't even know where they were going but the pale female didn't care. She eagerly jumped forward just as her sister looked back to see if she was following. Arlette nudged Keen and trotted a bit ahead but letting her sister catch up with her. She loved to explore and it was even more fun with her sister.

They balanced each other out. Where Arlette was smaller, Keen was bigger. Where Keen was timider, she was enthusiastic. They were a good duo, at least that was what Arlette thought. The red-eyed female rushed past the stones, but since the weather and been wet lately and much like an average fall would be, Arlette slipped on the mud. The slope down to the fields was a bit steep so she slid down like a big slide.

Arlette instantly laughed and squeaked excitedly. "Wheeeee!!" she called out before she came to a stop. Her underside and paws were covered in mud. "I look like you!!" she called out and then decided to roll more in the mud.

A giggle bubbles out of her as her sister follows enthusiastically. She's a little more sure-footed, so when Arlette slips through the mud she halts abruptly to watch with wide eyes. Alarm fills her until she realizes her sister is fine — then, she's more amused than anything. Her sister does look like her now, white fur stained dark, and it's kind of funny. After a beat, she takes off running through the mud after her sister, nearly losing her balance once or twice as she barrels down the slope after Arlette. But she finds she can't quite stop once she reaches the bottom — instead, she slides through the mud at high-speed and slams right into her sister.

Arlette giggled along with her sister. This was so much fun! Keen seemed to slip down the hill as well and before she knew it, her sister was crashing into her. "Ooff," she let out but then was soon back to having a laugh. This was so much fun. "Let's slide down again," she grinned and then jumped to her feet. She gave her sister a lick in her excitement before trying to run up the hill again. However, with the mud, she slipped down once more. She slid butt down towards her sister, laughing. She had the feeling that her mother was going to force a bath on her after this.

Now I can't wait until there is snow and Keen can be like Arlette haha.

The collision sends mud flying, much to Keen's amusement. Any guilt she might have felt at crashing into her sister is immediately extinguished by Arlette's laughter, and she's more than happy to go with her suggestion. She turns to follow her a little too fast, finding herself right in Arlette's path as she slides back down. She squeaks in surprise as she's wiped out by her sister's falling butt, crushed under a muddy rump of doom as the momentum carries them several more feet down the hill. There's mud everywhere, with more flying around as she flails in her attempt to regain her footing.

Arlette could feel herself slide down. The female laughed out loud in glee. This was so much fun. They came to a stop. Keen half over her and she was covered in mud. She really looked like her sister now! "This was fun, Keen!" Arlette couldn't stop smiling, not really. 'I love you," she grinned and gave her a kiss over her cheek. Arlette then found her footing. Sometimes she felt taller than Keen even though she wasn't, perhaps because Keen was timider than her. "Do you think Mommy would be mad?," she chuckled.
