All Welcome
The autumn woman delighted in her season, her colours lending her aid to hunter in redened undergrowth and moisture held the scent of trails in the ground for longer than a hot, dry day — provided that it didn’t rain — today was a great day for hunting and Flicker had nothing on her mind but such. She had happened across a perfect place to hunt: a strech of plains with varying grass heights. Inhaling deeply, the woman set off at a brisk trot after a deer path, if only to observe unless there was an easy option.

Soon, she happened across them and dropped lower to avoid detection, swiftly moving eastward to ensure her downwind position. She licked her muzzle in anticipation, all she’d been feeding off was small game; funny toads and birds from caches in the forest. Then there was the intrusion... ’No, keep your mind on the hunt.’ the thought was like a clap of thunder, dragging her attention back to her game.

It was then, when she inhaed deeply, did she catch just a hint of another, another pack. She tensed and cast a wary gaze about the grasses in the failing light. Great.

Siege found himself drawn back to the plain.  He spent a good portion of the morning watching the bison again, for he knew come springtime their calves would feed whatever whelps the plateau birthed.  As the day waned on he pulled himself from them and instead sought out what other prey the plains might hold.

Deer were not uncommon in this territory, and he was on the path of one now, massive body crouched low to hide between the golden grasses.  It took a master hunter to hide both scent and his bright pelt.

He saw her before he was able to find the deer, on the same trail he was on.  He approached and gave her space, but in his eye was a silent offer — so long as she didn't try to eat him, he'd help her cull the deer.

Her blue flecked gold found his eyes, and the question they held. Her head dipped slightly in acceptance of his proposal, she wished to take home something for the pack. ‘But he would too.’ This caused her a small predicament but supposed if the chance came she’d grab something else, for him or her. Perhaps an injured or elderly, two wolves couldn’t take on a stag...supposedly.

Her eyes ran back to the herd, keeping low in the grass, and watched. Outrunning them would be a good idea, if not preferable, to single one out — she had to get closer to the other to hash out a plan. They both needed this. The woman silently slunk through the grass to the male, arriving at his side, just close enough to whisper. Upon her approach, she noted that the white brute was a male. ”Any ideas?.”
