Her plan, thus far, was to keep making her way around the new pack and pick up any loners she happened to find along the way. If she ran into a member of another pack, so be it. Maybe they'd be unsatisfied (as she had been) with their way of life, and Cyclone could convince them this was the right thing to do. Surely they didn't really want to stay wherever they currently were. Not that the glacier was the perfect place on earth, but it was suitable enough, and they could use the numbers.

Set on her quest, the Blackthorn yawned and stretched from her temporary bed, eventually making her way to a small stream where she could grab a drink from the partly frozen water. It was icy cold, but still liquid enough for her to drink. Perhaps she would come across some grub while she was out here. She sure could use the sustenance.

The lanky wolf trots amidst the trees, his fresh kill of an emaciated raccoon clenched between bloodstained jaws. His nostrils are full of blood-smell, yet they are still able to detect other scents, two of which have captured his interest. One is the scent of water. He is hungry to be sure, but his thirst overpowers the hunger and he cannot fathom eating the raccoon without first moistening his dry mouth.

The second scent he follows is that of another canine, a wolfess. The thought of a social encounter both excites and frightens him. His kind are unpredictable, but that is simply the way of things and uncertainty is no excuse to remain reclusive.

Vegas at last approaches the stream, its shores glistening in broken patches of ice. He places himself a short distance from the she-wolf, and with a half glance in her direction drops the raccoon at his paws. Cobalt eyes turn away from her as he lowers his maw to the frigid water and begins to lap up a hearty drink.

Neasa's smell, as usual, was more useful than her hearing and sight. Not because her hearing and sight were poor, but it was just the way wolves were built. Her nose never failed to be the first to alert her to the presence of somebody else, and she glanced to the left, then to the right to see a white figure against the snowy landscape. Not only that, but there was a very obvious corpse at his feet, causing Cyclone to immediately lick her lips.

Him drinking from the stream would have been the perfect opportunity for her to steal it away, and the coon likely would have been enough to stave off her hunger for the day, but she knew better than to insult those she was trying to draw toward the glacier. Instead, she would wait until he was finished with his drink, then give an inviting woof. The last thing she wanted to do was approach somebody with food at their feet, lest she start a tussle.

His nerves rattle as he drinks knowing that the woman has the prime opportunity to snatch the coon from between his paws. In this event a fight would surely ensue and that is not something that Vegas wants. He is not a violent individual by nature, but he will fight for his food if he must.

But the dark furred female makes no such attempt and in turn Vegas feels able to relax. His thirst quenched he lifts a dripping maw and swings his narrow head towards her, regarding her with doleful blue eyes as she unleashes a friendly woof.

His long, soft tail begins to sway. He gives her a half smile and steps back a bit, nosing the raccoon corpse towards her. It flops in her direction as Vegas flips it with his pale snout.

He draws up to stand, his posture neither dominant nor submissive but rather neutral.unthreatening, friendly almost.

You... You want to share? I probably can't eat it all right now.

He invited her (in a way) to come closer, and she did so, tail wagging and eyes locked on the food at his feet. Cyclone was a decent hunter, and she could have gotten food on her own, but having it right in front of her was so, so tempting! When he offered to share, she nodded, licking her lips. She would have rather had the whole thing for herself, but maybe breaking "bread" with this stranger would be beneficial to her other cause: recruiting members for Takiyok back at IkKanattuk.

She didn't reach for the food, but instead decided to make good ol' smalltalk. Name's Neasa, she said, Yours? Pleasantries were such a bore, but she knew they were necessary. At least she didn't have to deal with the Odolf's ridiculous antics anymore. The more she looked back on it, the more she realized what a mistake trying to fit in with them had been.

The snowy beast cants his head in mild confusion when the woman offers not to partake of the kill, but instead to introduce herself and request that he do the same.  It is only a second of wondering that passes before he complies with the flow of things, giving his fur an absentminded shake before proceeding to answer.

"Nice to meet you," he says in his quiet, almost sad manner of speaking. "I'm Vegas. How're you doing today?" His tummy rumbles softly but these niceties must pass before it will be time to eat. And he doesn't mind too much,  really.

Vegas, cool. That seemed like a non-stupid name. Twenty points to Vegas for not having a dumb name! When he asked how she was doing, she opened her mouth to reply, but his stomach decided to butt into the conversation. She glanced at his torso, tilting her head to one side. You wanna go ahead and eat? she asked, ignoring his question for the time being. Besides "how're you," was really too vague for her to even begin to answer. "Fine" was the obvious answer, but was she, really?

Sounds like you actually could eat it all if you really wanted to, so don't let me take any of it if that's the case. I can catch my own food later. She was hungry, but he seemed to be a lot more so.

He watches her tilt her head towards his narrow torso, knowing that she has heard the low growls of his belly. Embarrassed, his ears lower slightly but he hopes she hasn't noticed.

"O-ok." He speaks, clearing his throat and chewing his lip nervously, looking at her for another half second before lowering his snout towards the raccoon and beginning to tear the fur from the flesh. Once he reaches meat he eats, and despite the awful taste his mind calms with the knowledge that his body will be fed.

After a few moments he swallows his current mouthful and looks up at her, blinking his large blue eyes. "You really can have some. I'm feeling better." The corners of his lips turn upward into a smile.

Neasa still wasn't sure about taking food from him, but since he offered again, she shrugged and tore off a hind leg for herself. It was tasty, and she gobbled it down quickly, crunching the bones as she went and eating it skin, fur, and all. She wouldn't be wasting a single fraction of it, no sir!

Thanks for the bite, she said. My pack, IkKanatuk, is always looking for good hunters. We're over that way on a glacier. Cyclone motioned in the direction she was talking about. If you're ever over that way, come check us out. I'm sure Takiyok would be thrilled to add you to our ranks. Maybe "thrilled" was an overstatement, but Neasa thought it would help sell the place. I'm actually heading back there next, so it should be pretty easy to track us down.

She didn't leave much more time for the other wolf to respond, figuring she had given him enough information if he wished to find her and the rest of IkKanatuk. Instead, she gave him a farewell nod and trotted off, looking for more recruits.
