One post from me
It was fun guys. <3

For the last two days, something felt wrong. The air felt different, the sky looked too dark, and Taki couldn't stop the sense of foreboding that spread though her veins, chilling her bones. The temperatures had dropped greatly, and that by itself would not have worried the leader, but mixed with all the other signs, she had feared what it might mean. She and her family were no strangers to bad winter storms and could withstand them better than most, but she couldn't shake the feeling that this time would not be like any other time before.

She woke in the early hours of the morning and was met with only white, like someone had stuck cotton to her eyes. She stood, blinking, and had to brace herself against a force of a frigid wind so strong it nearly knocked her to her feet. Snow was swirling in the air so fast that it made and angry whistling sound, slamming into her face and body with every gust of wind. Her heart began to race as she realized she had no idea where anyone else was. She could tell the storm was way worse than anything they had ever experienced, and all she could think was that they needed to get off the glacier while they still could. Taki closed her eyes and forced herself to think past her panic; she needed a clear head to figure this out. It was becoming clear that she needed to get herself out. It went against absolutely everything she was about to not try and find her family to help them to safety. But the longer she stayed here, the harder it would be to actually escape, and she knew that whatever was left after the storm, they would need her alive.

Stifling the suffocating desperation rising in her chest, she began to move. The atausiq knew the territory backwards and forwards; she didn't need to be able to see to move through it and across the borders to safety. Every step was a battle with the violent, arctic gusts; they were relentless and frequent, and even with her thick northern coat, she started to shiver. The wind and tremendous amounts of snow were not the only dangers of a storm like this; a wolf could freeze to death quickly if they didn't find somewhere to shelter themselves. Painfully, she pushed forward, knowing that with each step, she was closer to where she needed to be. As she fought to stay upright and moving, she couldn't help but uselessly search her surroundings for any sign of life--any sign of someone else, but each time, she saw only swirls of thick snow taunting her with glimpses of shapes here and there but nothing substantial.

Finally she made it to the borders and fled until she could see again. Everything seemed muffled, and she couldn't tell if she could still hear the screaming wind or if she was just imagining it after listening to it throughout her arduous escape from the storm. She collapsed onto her haunches, chest rising and falling in quick bursts as she fought to catch her breath and assemble her thoughts. Snow had collected in a thick layer on her fur, and she she shook it out as best she could before looking back towards what was once her home. All she could see was the angry, twisting storm. She could only stare for a few long moments before lifting her muzzle to the sky and releasing a haunting howl of despair, helpless to do anything but watch as her life crumbled to pieces at her feet.

she couldn't find Currituck. she couldn't find anyone.

Tahani pushed through the wall of white, screaming their names until her voice ran ragged and her throat was on fire. the snow battered her face--even used to ice as she was, it was brutal. but she couldn't give up. she had to find her baby, her sisters, her brother---

gods, where were they??

in the commotion, she was pushed away from the glacier entirely, ending up far off course. when the storm settled, she was in a forest she did not recognize and everything hurt, inside and out.

she curled into a tight, alabaster ball, breaking into exhausted sobs.
