All Welcome
bending down to pee, rannveig inspected a twig that was whittled away by the sea's embrace. the steaming liquid rose acrid beneath his loins, and after a good sniff of approval, he gave the snow a few hearty kicks with his hind legs and then moved on.

in a way this ritual was soothing, but after a while the mayfair-cairn's mind began to wander. then it became squat, sniff, poop, pee, roll -- and he left a rather erratic line of evidence of his patrols' efforts on the borders for all to see (and be confused over).

The titan followed in the sporadic markings of his brother at a careful pace. The length of his limbs allowed him to reach the corners that Rannveig had missed and mark them himself, providing the back with a perfectly fresh coat for any passerby. When he had emptied his bladder of all fluid, he took to rubbing his dark coat against the jagged corners of stones or rolling against the rough earth. All of it was done to fill in the holes that his brother had left behind in his erratic movements.

After a short while, the titan caught sight of the slate coat of his sibling. Picking up his pace, Ford trotted to close some of the space between them and released a chuff to announce his presence. With plumes of steam rising from his flared nostrils, the warhound finished breaking the space between them and fell beside Rannveig with a quiet snort. “Good to see you tending to the borders, brother,” he offered in a smoky voice.

rannveig had been straining the last of his piss over a rotted log when he heard footsteps. glancing behind him, he caught the prowling form of his brother, whose shadow spread out before him like the clawed mirage of a panther. shaking a leg after another burst of urinary effort, rannveig delivered a grunt and a wide beam of a smile.

"oh, it's bitchin' work." he concluded, smearing his paws along the sand so everyone knew he had been here. "you got any left in the tank? i could use a drink."

Almost immediately, Ford regretted approaching his sibling. Then again, he should have been very surprised by the response that had been given. It was characteristic of Rannveig to let slip a comment that had little place. As for the work, the warhound could not have been too displeased; the beach lounger was patrolling the territory, after all.

“No... it takes more than you think to fill in the holes you left,” the titan responded with a wicked smirk. Drawing his head upward and drinking in the saline breeze that was brushed across the beach, he turned his attention to where the nearest source of fresh water was and motioned with a swing of his skull for Rannveig to follow. They'd fill up and finish off the patrol together.

as ford turned, rannveig crossed his eyes in a gross exaggeration of his brother's stiff-lipped attitude, the tip of his tongue poking between his needly teeth. if ford happened to look back then, he'd see a grotesque estimation of his own features mirrored back to him -- only, incredibly juvenile and scrunched up.

correcting his pinched features with an easy shake of his body, rannveig dutifully trotted after ford -- all the while cycling between various inestimably silly faces as they went.

As it was, Ford had turned around just in time to catch the pinched features of his younger brother. His brow furrowed across his mismatched gaze, and his dark lips curled downward into a heavy frown. What more could he have expected from the likes of Rannveig? The slate beach-bum had always had a way of making every situation a foolish one. It was a good strength, his ability to lighten the mood, but he did not wield it well or use it in the most appropriate of times.

The warhound snorted and turned away from the jester so that he could lead them toward fresh water. Once there, he lowered his crown to the earth and drank until he felt his stomach ache from the weight of the water. Then, he waited for Rannveig to follow suite so that they could complete their rounds on the edge of the bay.

oops. the fun police had caught him!

rannveig straightened up right away, ears erect and features as emotionless as possible. it was a terrible attempt at being serious, and he gave up within seconds (really, the second ford happened to look away).

seeing his brother drink gave the imp an idea -- he did not carefully approach the water as his brother had done; instead, he galloped right by and cannon-balled into the river's depths, hoping to splash his brother and maybe wash some of the mood-killer off of him in the process.

If he had not heard the sound of his oafish brother's feet against the earth, Ford would have been taken completely by surprise. He still was not swift enough to leap out of the way of the water that rained down and soaked his coat. The titan flattened his ears to his skull, peering toward Rannveig with a scowl that surely would have killed a lesser creature. His hollow stare latched tight to the sea green of his brother's impish eyes.

“Dad either knocked all the sense out of you, or didn't knock enough into you,” he growled before lunging toward his slate-coated sibling with limbs outstretched and aiming to knock him into the river's deeper portions. Frustrated as he might have been with his childish brother, Ford was not foolish enough to think that Rannveig wasn't a capable man who knew exactly what he was doing at all times.

dAd EithER KnOCkED aLl ThE sEnse OUt Of YoU, oR diDn'T KnOCK eN--- whoops! a fistful of limb connected with rannveig's shoulder, the force knocking him back as both his brother and gravity conspired against him. in a whoosh, rannveig was gone, swallowed whole by the whitewaters.

he emerged a few seconds later, gasping and heaving and possibly cackling: a wide grin supplanted across his features and he immediately pulled for his brother, bounding over in a manner that sent an extraordinary amount of water splashing out from his sodden fur; once  he was close enough, he'd give a hearty shake -- enough to splatter his stinky-cheese brother, if he was lucky.

The brothers tumbled into the water and were swallowed by the pull of the waves and the white foam that lapped at the shores. In this process, Ford lost any hold he might have had on Rannveig. He emerged and breathed in the air above the surface. A few seconds later, the slate joker found himself on the upper side of the sea, coughing and laughing. It did not take him long before it turned to Ford and charged, spraying water from his sides like some warped version of a mermaid. In seconds, the wraith was doused in water as it was flung from his brother's coat and into the air. He too shook the water from his dark fur and jumped forward to create a large splash.

rannveig would always have an inexplicable connection to water; it was in his blood, his heart, his soul. as the waves pulled over and spat him out he watched the large form of his brother soar over head, his ass so fat it blocked out the sun form briefly eclipsing the sky before a catastrophic wave announced his impact with the river.

he grinned to see such play in ford -- a wolf rannveig thought sometimes had less humor than a stone ('what kind of stone?' dalia would ask 'soMe sToNEs ArE mOrE hUmORous ThAN oThERS! i WOUld knOW I aM aN eXPERT ON rOckS! eSpeciALlY ThE BIG oNE iN yOur HeAd.') - he waited for ford's head to submerge, and then he delivered a splash of his paw aimed directly for his big ole eye sockets.

ops!

The water swelled at his sides and then was pushed outward and toward the joker across from him. It was a good display of each of their power within the lapping sea. He was submerged for a long moment, left to stare at the bubbling water and murky otherworld that existed beyond what they were so used to. When he finally did emerge, breathing in deeply, Rannveig had timed a well-aimed spritz of water for Ford’s face. The titan snorted and shook his skull in response to the flurry of salty water that had spattered into his eyes.

When he could see again, he moved to where his limbs were supported by soft sand before he shook his coat, hoping to spatter the joker with a vast majority of the water that had soaked into his thick pelt. Then, he cast a daring look at Rannveig, imploring him to come closer.

a cascade of splattering water rained down on rannveig as ford shook out his immense girth frame. looking towards him with a rather daredevil expression, rannveig caught the silent dare in his brother's gaze.

well, rannveig didn't need to be told twice to do something stupid.

with a samurai yell, he launched himself towards his brother, water streaming behind him like a glittering cape in the wind.

Rannveig released a cry of war before lunging toward the warhound. Ford steeled himself and prepared for the surprise that would surely accompany such a move. After all, the jester never truly could do something so simple as reach out to attack – not without a plan for something more that was potentially at play in the back of his mind. The titan was not so foolish that he would simply believe the attack to be what it was. Instead, he dove backward and found his footing in the damp sands. There, he took a defensive posture and waited to see what his brother might attempt next.

BITCH THAT'S RIGHT YOU STEP BACK -- rannveig felt a purling smirk unfurl across his features, smug and insufferable as the grin of a fat man denying a baby candy. ford looked wary, as he damn well should be -- rannveig was a regular wild card.

rearing up on his hind legs, rannveig did the absolutely inexplicable and cartwheeled, delivering a roundhouse kick that was as absurd as an alligator dressed up as a dentist -- the whole entire point was for theatrics, but if he actually hit ford in his nose, hey, two birds one stone.

the handsomest pair of brothers in  the entire teekon wilds continued their riveting tango for a large portion of the day, quitting only as thirst or food compelled them.
