All Welcome
task thread, trackin' some bighorn sheep. tagging @Ketzia since she's lead hunter this month, but anyone is welcome! rue would love to get to know more packmates. <3 would be a good hunter/tracker trade thread.

Rue found herself back at Arrow Lake's waterfall once more, sniffing around its base on the southernmost shore. When she had been exploring this place with Finch, she had come across...

Ah yes, there it was: a hoofprint in the muddy shoreline. The champagne lady sniffed at the print for a long time, but she struggled to identify the species to which it belonged. Rue was not the most experienced tracker... she could tell the hoofprint of prey from the pawprint of a predator, but that was about as far as her knowledge took her.

At least in the snowy season, tracks were easy enough to spot for a novice. Rue pursued the trail up the mountain chain's foothills for a small ways, but her progress was fairly slow as she continually lost her place. She could probably use the assitance of someone a little more experienced, or perhaps even just another set of eyes...

With the responsibility to lead the next larger hunt, the pallid creature moved with lissome purpose, her nose quivering with the teasing delight of the sheep that crested their home. The tracks that printed the snow spoke of ungulates, though the pale she-wolf could not determine what it was she currently stalked—only that it was a likely prospect to bring food to the mouths of her companions.

Gleaming jade eyes fell upon the pale coat of a woman unknown to her, though Ketzia remained unalarmed by her presence. She was of Diaspora—Mahler and Thorn’s scent deemed it so, and as she quickened her pace, slender limbs losing the pace of languid thought, she uttered a low croon to gain the attention of her comrade.

The stars saw it fit to grant Rue's silent request, because another hunter appeared in short order. The woman emitted a low, euphonic note to attract Rue's attention, almost sounding as if she were about to begin a song. Music always lifted Rue's spirits, and so she found herself enjoying her newly-arrived company immediately.

"Ketzia," Rue greeted cheerfully, expression warming. She was not inclined to easy smiles, but she wagged her tail in a friendly fashion. "Would you possibly have a moment to help me identify this track?" Rue was unaware Ketzia had been pursuing the same trail as she, and she was reluctant to take up too much of the woman's time.
