(Wanted to get this here on her timeline <3)

Even as Erzulie left their den to seek Firefly, Rosalyn could feel the signs of her own.  This was the time when she felt the draw of the allures of men, and she grew more restless and more irritable.  She could not push her body, though finally her leg felt as if it was regaining some soundness.  But she did wander the coast for broader stretches, and for the most part avoided contact.

She was still torn.  She didn't know if she had what it took to be a mother, but remembering the protectiveness she'd felt for a moment, and thinking that it would likely make Erzulie happy, shifted her resolve into shakier territory.  Her body and mind were more aligned than usual around this time, and as the week progressed, she found it harder and harder to remain still.

Slowly, today, she passed into the forest.  Her time had come officially two days previous, and finally she couldn't stand to keep herself isolated any longer.

He had taken his time with Erzulie despite the loss of control he felt with her, and was left feeling invigorated, boisterous and wholly unlike himself. The intoxication of her presence lingered even after they separated, and the man sought out the sea for some wading. The salt tangled through his dark fur as he emerged from a retreating wave and, oddly enough, seemed to have abandoned the limp of his bad leg in favor of an energized stride. He felt good, better than he had in a long time.

Firefly did a swift patrol of the seaside - although it was pointless - and then diverted his boundless energy towards the slope leading towards the dark forest that once frightened him so badly. He didn't think twice about climbing the stonework path towards the forest, and even though he was nearly out of breath from the exertion he made it to the forest's edge in good time. It was here, gulping air, that Firefly noticed a familiar scent. Thinking he'd come across Erzulie again (and eager to spend more time with her) he began to search through the black pines for her.

He would remain oblivious to the scent's true origin until she came in to view, and even then he was too love-drunk to make the connection. Firefly paused as he crossed through a scattering of thin light within the forest, his coat glinting gold, and fixed his attention on the dark crimson coat of Rosalyn.

Her scent would draw someone, she knew.  And she shouldn't have worried - by the time she reached the trees, any thought of who was banished.  So long as they were good to look at and trusted to please she didn't have the capacity to be picky.

She spotted Firefly from the corner of her eye and turned to face him.  As she did, her mind did clarify for a moment, and she felt a second's hesitation.  She'd be lying if she said the man hadn't crossed her mind as an option since their conversation, but she had thought maybe she saw too much of herself in him.  She'd had in mind maybe to seek someone with more of Erzulie's heart than her edge - but he was here.  And if she allowed him to do this, their children would truly share blood.  It wouldn't matter all that much since they wouldn't know differently regardless, but it was enough to quiet her reservations.

She needed this, just this once.  Then fate could decide if she was fit to be a mother.

She let out a soft growl of invitation and curved around, indicating that he should come forward.  If he was willing to make good on his offer with her as well, now was the time.

He was not typically one to hesitate; when she called out to him and broke the silence with her invitation, Firefly eagerly began to close the distance. He felt no pain as he moved (although that was likely a side-effect of endorphins and chemistry after his unification with Erzulie) and came closer to her easily enough, but remained cautious out of respect for her. This was not something she'd have orchestrated without some thought, and while they were both known to one another Firefly wasn't as close to Rosalyn as he felt he was to her wife; he did not wish to crowd her or push boundaries. Even as he came up alongside her he was mindful of her attitude and watching for signs of aggression, just in case she was uncomfortable with the situation. He would not do anything without her instruction and permission.

He didn't approach like some males would.  She'd seen all sorts in her lifetime, some with respect, others assumption.  He had the former and it solidified the choice completely.  Rosalyn knew on some level that she needed to be cautious, as her body was still not at one hundred percent.  But she moved towards him lazily anyway, instincts kicked up and muddying any reason.

She'd taken a good number of lovers before, but since taking up with Erzulie had seen little use sense.  The void she'd used it to fill was gone.  Yet she still remembered the ways, and as she came towards him, moved to press her side against his invitingly as she gave his cheek a nibble where it met the hollow of his chin.

There was no reason this couldn't be time well spent, as the outcome was already inevitable.

When she began to approach him, Firefly felt more at-ease. She was accepting his presence, maybe even welcoming it the way that Erzulie appeared to earlier. Still, he'd remain vigilant in case her mood shifted or things went off-kilter; even injured as she was, Firefly did not wish to contend with an agitated version of the woman. The closer she got the more invested he felt, and the less he monitored his own actions - her preening at his chin helped with that, easing whatever tension he felt for the time being. Soon enough Firefly was doing the same back to her - nibbling, nudging, breathing her scent deeply as he tended to her coat. Part of him wanted to be careful because of her injuries but, having already coupled with Erzulie and feeling the pressure of Rosalyn's presence, it soon became apparent he couldn't help but be a little bit rough.

Mature Content Warning

This thread has been marked as mature. By reading and/or participating in this thread, you acknowledge that you are of age or have permission from your parents to do so.

The participants have indicated the following reason(s) for this warning: ehhhh vaguey vague and hand wavey but MA enough yo

He began to relax and reciprocate, and as she felt his attentions roughen, her eyes sparked with the challenge.  She grinned and her own began to match, beginning a dance that would last until finally both of them were unable to keep even this slight distance between them.

Her manner with him was different than with Erzulie, as men and women were two very different things.  But the balance of rough and gentle, taunting and giving, things she'd learned... she used them all, and led him along, or let him lead, until at length their interlude came to a heightened close, and she let voice a soft and satisfied croon, both for her own contentment and because she knew at times it aided the other to know they'd done well.

She knew how to work him, which shouldn't have surprised him as much as it did. Firefly wasn't experienced with women but there were moments that made him think, without judgement, that Rosalyn was experienced enough for the two of them. He was more surprised with the way he let things build up, let her lead the way to what she wanted, rather than the opposite - sure, she let him think he was in control a few times, but this was a business transaction more than true love-making. There was more tenderness from Erzulie; however, it would get the job done. That's all he was here for, and Firefly was happy to serve.

And when it was over he became aware of how tired he felt. It was different from the awed elation following his pairing with Erzulie; his muscles cramped as he stood behind Rosalyn, bracing against her and the ground until he could separate from her. Once the man was on the ground again he felt good thanks to the post-coital bliss built out of overworked synapses and endorphin-worn nerves, but overall he felt the need for sleep. His hip ached again, sharp and constant, from the exertion of assisting the two women in such a short span of time.

It was no more or less than affairs she'd had before; the good ones, that is.  She did not worry about if he had found it to be enough.  That didn't matter.  She'd done what she could to ensure both ejoyed it, but there was a reason her wife's profession was not one she held herself.  She was neither a good liar nor a selfless lover.

But she had enjoyed it herself, and as Firefly finished, she took a moment to still her breathing somewhat, then turned to him and gave him a touch, this time, where before she'd nibbled.  He was a good friend to her at least to have done this, whatever he was to her wife nonwithstanding.

Fade?

Laying and panting wasn't the most attractive sight, but Firefly didn't need to worry about appealing to Rosalyn's vanity. They were the same. They'd seen life, fought through whatever bad shit had come their way, and come out the other side with equal measures of ugliness. But this moment wasn't an ugly one. For a split second, as she touched him so softly, he thought of how bizarre the tenderness felt coming from her. Firefly took a deep breath and relaxed where he was, basking in her company for as long as she'd let him. Whether she got up first or if he left her - it didn't matter. The moments spun together and blurred, now that the point of their union was complete.

He lay there and she settled in beside, sharing company for a bit before she returned.  The fire in her was sated for a while, reduced to a burning smolder that would likely stoke once more later, once this interlude wore off.

After a time she'd return back to the shore, but for now, she welcomed their silent repose, needing a break of her own to rest her tired frame.
