Wary of the sneering eye of dastard king Remalias, Damien left the comfort of his fortress and the warmth of his lover to start a new night. The sun had set and the warm colors that painted the skies had cooled down, leaving behind a dark canvas full of stars. It was a clear night, and despite the full moon having passed the night before, the blue brightness of the night was still blinding for any darkness-dwelling creature.

Marruz had been instructed to find the dark master the night before, and true to his word Damien had left his den with the sole purpose of meeting the young disciple. He wandered the land until he found a small clearing, and with the intention of being found, he sat right at the center of it, allowing the eye of Remalias to bathe him with its light. Today Damien had nothing to hide, in fact, he hoped there would be much to share with his hopeful pupil.

"dastard King Remalias" indeed!

The particular luminescence of the moon that night had aroused Marruz from his initial stupor. He had been busy familiarizing himself with the territory since his encounter with the Melonii Sovereign, though his mind was not drinking in the landscape so much as the events that had transpired the night before. Had it been this bright then? For some reason, he remembered the Weald being much darker.

The boy's indigo and black gaze was, for once, not so striking alongside the blueish tint washed upon his flanks. Long legs strode onwards in steady, rhythmic beats across the frozen earth; carrying the shade effortlessly across a world mulled by inner speculation. He was eager to begin learning about how to "listen", though he would not admit it. Damien's words continued to replay within his ears; words that were so invigorating it was frightening.

Such were the thoughts plaguing Marruz when he came upon the very figment of his fretting: Damien himself. He appeared like a ghost in the center of the clearing, bathed in an eerie sheen of azure twilight. Marruz whispered a word of thanks to... whomever might be listening. He supposed he would soon find out.

"Sovereign," he dipped his head as he approached, struggling to conceal the yen in his tone. "Does the moon awaken you as well?"

The young one came soon enough, and Damien, whose eyes had been closed as he settled into a meditative pause, turned to look at him when his voice pulled him back to the ground. He swayed his tail softly, welcoming Marruz's approach, and to the question, he gave a thoughtful pause. Ever since Damien had adopted his lover's activity patterns Damien had developed a strong aversion for daylight, and he had become a night creature through and through. Simply, he replied It does. I haven't seen much daylight in quite some time. and giving the young wraith a thoughtful look he continued, but things are much simpler at night. Wouldn't you agree? he paused then to observe the reaction. Was Marruz a night creature as well? Certainly, it was most likely easier to hear and see beyond things at night, without all the noise of daytime, especially under a new moon. Tonight was no such an occasion, but still, the full moon gave them the chance to explore and discuss the energies flowing through right now, and experience it in realtime.

The whole night was spent discussing these energies, making experiments on their own bodies with one of Damien's most precious treasures: The moonstone that had changed his life, and they successfully allowed the energy to flow through them. It was a cooperative effort, for they were both delving into phenomena that neither of them quite understood. But such was the beauty of it, that even when they both were still pretty much in the dark about it, it couldn't be more fulfilling to experience it firsthand.
