she pulls herself onto a small ridge, peering upward and finding that the incline softens here. the foothills proved much more challanging than the mountain's heights, not that they are impressive in the least. still, she's drawn to mountains, and there's a kind of simple peace found when her only goal is to reach the summit. shaking out her pelt, she moves easily now atop the ridge, finding here and there charred and blackened husks that provide an explaination for the lack of forest she'd expected to find here.

her path shifts when the scent of stagnant blood drifts teasingly through the air, nearby, surely. it does not take long to trace the lure and find at its end the crumpled body of what may be a fox or coyote; on initial inspection she's not entirely sure. it's bloodied and shredded, though lies alone in a small clearing where the incline is barely noticable. she hangs back, considering, hungry but not enough to be stupid.
That is not dead which can eternal lie.
And with strange aeons even death may die.

He contemplated heading to the coast to fuck with some Rusalkans, but perhaps not today. Instead, Verx went inland, past the tangled wood and up toward the rise, where he'd sparred with the big pale man. His opposite was here today, a svelte but well built dark woman, looking at something lying on the ground. Upon further inspection, he discovered it was some sort of small canine, looking much the worse for wear.

His eyes lit upon her in question. You gonna eat that? he asked wryly. Because that looks and smells like diarrhea just waiting to happen. His own stomach gurgled in protest at the thought.
