All Welcome

i'm going to go with 1 week rounds with no posting order~

her intention had been to simply go on one of her daily border rounds when for some unknown reason her paws ventured further until light draped her in its full intensity rather than the soft dappling she'd grown so used to. squinting, the pale girl would push through the long grasses she'd strayed into, sometimes almost feeling as if she were wading through water as her shortness did little to help the intensity of the vegetation around her. one blade would go as far as to tickle at the sensitive skin of her nose and the girl would sneeze, falling back on her haunches with an irritable shake of her head. a cackle would erupt from above and tundra would cast a death glare up to the sky where the now familiar form of bertók circled lazily above. growling lightly the woman would lean forward and snip the blade with sharp fangs, feeling way too pleased for such a frankly stupid task. luckily the grass grew more tolerable as she ventured further into the meadow- seeming to be a lot thicker nearer to their home for some reason. here, the grass seemed to live in a much more controlled enviroment- although still long enough for her to hide in if she pressed herself to the earth it was much more neatly cropped.

it wasn't long before she was shown why- idle steps brought her upon a whole herd of deer grazing peacefully, not a care in the world. idiots..the word couldn't help but make itself present in her mind, here she stood off to the side in full sight and not one had so much as glanced in her direction. oh well, she was about to simply turn and return back to her home- adventurous side of her satisfied for the day when the sight of the really dark woods was slightly...off putting. don't get her wrong she loved her home but it was such a typical spring day and although the weather was still being a bit of an ass the air smelled thick with life, it felt good. an idea came to mind, why not get everyone out for a bit? they were close enough to be able to get home if it was needed but maybe the others could do with something like this. plus, they should never ignore such an oppurtunity for food.

her form would slink off at a brisk trot, wanting to get a safe distance from the skittish creatures before calling as not to startle them. once at a safe distance she'd waste no time in throwing back her head and let out a short howl to call her packmates should they want to join. how uncharacteristically social of her, huh? now she'd simply lean back on her haunches, inhaling deeply as she waited.

Ever since he had returned to Teekon Wilds he had not yet returned to Blackfeather Woods. If asked before, he could not give a clear answer as to why. But now that he met his mother, he was much more reluctant. The situation there was testy at best. His family within Teekon Wilds was split. Well, he couldn't say that all of them were really his family — they were blood, but he barely knew these descendants of Meldresi.

He was curious if Miraak was still here. The last time he saw his uncle was in Blackfeather Woods, so perhaps he was still there?

Mal ventured to where he vaguely remembered the Woods being. Somewhere in this big field, right? It had to be, honestly; it was like a lonely dark island. But he couldn't find it as he traipsed through the tall stalks of grass. He was more interested in the group his mother had joined up with if anything, but he wanted to catch a glimpse of the wolves that had taken control of Meldresi's Forest.

A low, short howl caught his attention, and he bounded over. He wasn't a good hunter in any sense of the word, but this was an open invitation, and he figured that he could gain some information from the hunter. It would be strange for a loner to initiate something like this.

A pale woman sat in the grass, gazing at a herd of deer. He walked towards her, chuffing lowly. Hunting? He tossed his head towards the herd. See any easy targets? He looked the herd over once, then focused his gaze back on her. I'm Malcanthet by the way.

The call came from nearby, but not within the blackwood, so she was uneasy; there wasn't an urgency to the call which was curious. The most interesting thing, at least to humble and sheltered Parvati, was the fact it was a woman calling. The woman was intrigued and drifted from the forest — soon enjoying the sense of adventure that her tracking summoned.

Parvati was no great hunter; she knew how to keep herself fed now, but it was only because she had left the menfolk behind and was forced to adapt. It had been good for her, she thought. It made her feel powerful and in control of her life. But it was still a strange thing to be drawn out of the forest by the woman. The further Parvati got from the forest the more caution she felt was necessary - at least until a pale wolf was spotted a few feet away. Then, another - a dark shape that she thought at first glance was Ramsay. Parvati breathed a shuddering sigh inward as she drew closer, slowly releasing it as she made her way, then stopped.

Her inquisitive gaze flickered between the two wolves, but she said nothing, not sure what to expect.

The slave girl had lingered near Moonshadow, as she seemed so often inclined to, characteristically protective as the gentle shadow's time drew near to birth - though she tried to be unbothersome in her closeness and kept much of her growing interest in the woman hidden close to her heart.

The call drew her from the dark of the trees, blinking against the glare of the light as she followed the white lady's call blindly. Her hellish gaze soon acclimated and she found she was one of the first from the Woods to answer.

"Hello again," she murmured to Tundra as she settled upon dark haunches, fiery gaze sliding to the other two.

It lingered curiously for a moment upon the lone wolf before turning upon Parvati, whom she offered a polite nod, before at last returning to Tundra in wait of instructions.

so sorry about the wait! school has been a pain, still open for anyone else to hop into!

huh she hadn't expected a loner to be the first to answer her call, in fact she hadn't forseen a loner approaching at all but then again she was in neutral lands so why shouldn't they? especially since her call had been in no way specific under narrow minded assumptions that her pack were the only ones around, sometimes it was easy to forget the unbound wolves still roamed just as she had not an awfully long time ago. dark eyes soundlessly track the equally dark coloured man as he approaches. she's surprised when her mind's first reaction is to acknowledge that he's...nice looking, something about the whole causal confidence had an attraction to it and whilst it seemed a natural reaction for most- it was rare for such things to matter to the pale soldier at all and so she was left unsure as to whether amusement or confusion was the right response to her own thoughts.

nevertheless the sloe eyed woman remains mute until he stands right by her- features as blank as ever as she simply waits. eventually he speaks and there's no threat to his tone, not that that meant he couldn't lie but sure she felt confident in her ability to protect herself if needs be and so she simply nods at his enquiry. if she hadn't wanted non pack wolves to join then she shouldn't have announced here- he had as many rights to those deer as her and two would work better than one. she locks onto his gaze unwaveringly as tones both soft and edged with ice slipped from creamy jaws; "i didn't pay too close attention but there was a doe lagging a bit that could be worth inspecting" her head tilts to the side in a small bird like manner after her suggestion is posed. his complexion, purple hued eyes and night coloured fur reminded her a bit of ramsay actually but she holds her tongue on the subject, it was easy for wolves to have similar or even identical pelt and eye colours of course. "malcanthet" she repeats, rolling the unique name off of her tongue. "well nice to meet you i'm tundra" a brief moment passes where she pauses before then offering up; "from blackfeather woods" she doesn't have time to notice if the pack stirs any reaction from him before another approaches- this time coming from her home.

the earthen toned girl draws to a stop but says nothing, simply watching. not that it seems odd to tundra who never relied as heavily on words as most but nevertheless she offers up a greeting to the girl, she hadn't seen her before so she must be relatively new. "hey, here to hunt?" her long tail only has time to swish to her side before another approaches, this time tundra could put a name to a face as istoira greeted her and dipped her head in response. well that seemed to be it for now anyway. "to be honest hunting is not my strongest, well let's say passion so don't expect anything flawless" she remarks dryly, "but i know as much as any wolf with a good set of instincts does and the fact i'm alive right now goes to show i know enough to have kept myself fed" with that she simply turns and slips back the way she came with a phanthom like grace, expecting her little party to follow.

once at a close enough distance to the herd to observe without worrying them she leans lower into the long grasses and whispers to whoever followed; "i believe that doe at the back seems to have a limp, anyone have any suggestions they want to put forward as to how we go about this?" her gaze slips from wolf to wolf, lingering on the dark man a moment longer- both due to interest and of course lingering distrust that would remain until he proved himself otherwise. she was happy to share the leadership of the hunt, the only thing she'd ever led were fights so this was her first time doing something like this and she didn't mind it being a complete group effort.

quick and nasty post

He had not been aware that the intention was to start a pack-only hunt. Of course, the caller had not made it very general anyway. So he regarded the pale woman and their future companions calmly, though he did note the similar scents wafting off of them all.

His eyes slid towards the herd, searching for the deer that the woman had mentioned, but he was completely aware of the look that was focused on him. Ah, He merely said. He returned the look, scouring her for any sign of Melonii blood. He had not met a fraction of the wolves spawned from Meldresi's loins, and had no way of knowing who was his kin and who was not without the obvious Melonii traits. It was possible that she was not. Perhaps a new group inhabited the woods. Or perhaps the pack was much more diverse and accepting of newcomers.

His previous theories began to gain weight as more wolves approached. Tundra greeted one of them with a casualness that would not be seen between strangers. She must be a member of the pack, or a friend. Malcanthet nodded to the wolves, both the friendly vocal one and the woman who stood quietly at the sidelines. Greetings all, He grinned at them all.

Tundra decided then that they had enough to start their hunt. Hrnnn... He growled as he looked over at the herd, contemplating a move. We should get closer to be sure.

Feel free to skip me!

There were a myriad of bodies, and the strong scent of the woodland covering most of them. While she might have been unsettled at any other moment in her life Parvati was content, feeling protected even though the forest was no longer shrouding her. She roamed closer; not sure of what they intended, at least not until a voice addressed her directly, she was quite surprised to find herself among a group of hunter-gatherers.

To say she was out of her depth was an understatement; she could hunt of course, but it had never been her duty to feed anyone besides herself or an elder woman during her stay in her natal pack. Even here among the trees things seemed to be readily available - to which she was grateful, but complacent. It was comforting as the hostess explained her own lack of experience, but that did not bode well for their venture if the lot of them were of equal skill (ie: lacking).

I will try, she intones, hesitant but willing to pull her weight. A brief smile flit across her round face and Parvati followed after the growing group, more invested in the terrain than the creatures they might've been trailing.

Istoira was of a similar opinion of her hunting skills - she was by no means an expert but she had enough experience to consider herself a decent trapper - which lent a faint grin to her dark features upon hearing Tundra's words. She nodded to herself, rising to her feet and falling in line with the others as she trailed after the woman. She considered Tundra an ally of sorts, as such having little issue following the superior's casual commands, and considered this hunt a good start to fulfilling her promise to Maegi.

She returned Malcanthet's greeting with a chirp of, "Hey." It was not so unusual for her to see a rogue partaking in the hunt - such occurrences had happened before though nasty fights could sometimes break out. As a male, he was a shade or two larger than even the arctic warrioress; she readily welcomed his assistance.

She squinted, eyeing the doe in question as Tundra pointed her out. She did appear to be limping but much like Malcanthet, Istoira wanted to be sure before they planned their hunt around her injury.

"We should check," the charred girl chimed in agreement, nodding to the dark brute, "but if she is injured, cutting her off from the front might work - she's less likely to escape if she has to turn quickly and run on that leg. Maybe if some of us rushed her from behind as well, we could rush her?" The femme offered, tones implying that if anyone had a better idea, hers could be put aside.
