@Revan @Zan @Venamis And anyone else from The Melonii! The pups can now be found outside the den and can hear a little :)) Perk those ears babies. Set on the 4th of May.

The air outside was warm. It was a lovely spring day even though Lumi herself didn't even understand what a day was. Her vision had cleared up and she had found out that sometimes it was dark outside, sometimes not. When it wasn't she could see much better and she had even come to tell Mother and the big man that came in and licked their faces or babysat them sometimes apart. Today she was feeling adventurous. She had become quite steady on her feet and had stumbled around the den a bit already. Today she wanted out.

Much like how she had entered the big scary world did she exit the den. First her little nose, then her blue eyes poked out and a bit later all of her stood just outside the den. She yipped softly in excitement, smelling and seeing and hearing so much.

Although he usually gave the den a wide berth, he always made a point to patrol near it daily to make sure everything was in order. Occasionally, he would wander a little closer and drop food near the entrance for Nyx, but he never lingered long. He was not a spend-time-with-children kind of man; he only wanted to ensure that his king's legacy came to no harm.

Today, he neared the den, a hare dangling between his teeth. He went to his normal spot and deposited the rabbit on the ground. Movement near the den entrance caught his attention, and he whipped his head in that direction, ready to chase off anyone that shouldn't be there. His violet gaze settled on the small girl, and he stared at her for a few seconds, unsure what to do. Surely, Nyx knew she was out here, so he didn't dare try to guide her back inside. Plus, that would mean possibly touching her, and he wasn't really interested in making contact with the child. Instead, he turned and trotted back towards the the line of trees and plopped down. He would stay there and keep any eye on things until she made her way back to safety.

Unfortunately for Midar, he wasn't the one to decide if Lumiya was going to be close to him. The moonlight pup was afraid of very little, and the blueish tint of the stranger's coat reminded her just enough of Father to deem him safe to approach. With tiny, stumbling steps did she stray from the den. It felt like she had been walking for ages even though she was only just about halfway to where Midar was. Then her legs became tired. As if in slow motion did she raise her left paw only to plop on her right side. She didn't struggle, but rather accepted her fate now that she believed she was unable to get up again.

From among the other Melonii babes, Venamis watched the most unusual of his siblings in quiet wonder. His eyes followed her movements around their family's little hollow with curious baby blue eyes, around and around until she made her move toward the brightest area of the den through which he'd seen the providers come and go.

It didn't bother him to see her linger there, as he had tested the boundaries set by their parents on numerous occasions. What brought him to his paws was to see Lumiya disappear into the unknown, and he vibrated with a pitiful little growl as he clumsily stumbled in the direction she'd gone.

Fearlessly, Venamis stepped into the daylight. He squinted his eyes for a few moments to adjust, before he padded across the dirt toward his rogue sister - entirely unaware of the wolf who watched them from nearby.

He watched warily as the girl began to make her way towards him, wondering how far she would actually wander from the den opening, but she only made it a few steps before toppling over. He supposed some adults would come to her aid, but the beast did not; he remained in his spot, violet gaze trained on the fallen pup. This was one of many obstacles the girl would need to overcome in her life, and he wouldn't rob her of the opportunity to begin to develop the ability to solve problems on her own. Not too long after she had failed in her endeavor to make her way to him, another child emerged from the den. Midar watched as the boy started towards his sister, curious to see what he would do. Would he help her? Or would he succumb to his weak, infant limbs like his littermate?

There she was, surrounded by dirt and grass and spring flowers. Though the scent was the nicest thing she had ever scented (after the sweet aroma of milk) she wasn't about to make this her death bed. Curling her head she watched one of the other spawn that had been with her ever since she escaped the warmth of Mother's womb. Shakily did she get up, puppy blue eyes now focused on the shadow that had been watching the Spiderlings explore the outside world. Rrroof. She let out, one of her first noises to resemble that of an actual wolf, but far from fierce and menacing like she had intended it to sound.

Ruled primarily by curiosity and too little to truly care, Venamis paused beside his pale-furred sibling to blink dumbly down at her with wide powder blue eyes. He huffed through his nostrils as he observed her simply laying there uselessly, willing her silently to do something that might hold his interest. He dipped his head sniffed her downy shoulder gingerly, then hopped back with a surprised yip as she squirmed to gather herself onto her feet.

His scruffy black tail twitched to life then, a sudden eagerness to play in the waggle of his rear as Lumi shakily pulled herself to his level. She failed to respond to his burst of excitement, however, instead turning her focus elsewhere.

Well, she was boring. With the attention span of a goldfish, Venamis chose to occupy himself elsewhere and padded right by his sister to sniff at a particularly interesting dead leaf on the ground.

He watched the fallen pup with mild curiosity as she slowly raised herself back up, still not willing to help; she wouldn't benefit from coddling in a situation that she could easily rectify herself. The child's sibling seemed to lose interest in his sister pretty quickly and meandered on to inspect their surroundings. Midar remained where he was, almost resembling a statue as he watched over the two young ones. Occasionally, his gaze would leave the pups and quickly search the trees for anything out of place. And even when his watch fell back on the two children, his ears always remained tuned into the forest for even the slightest sound that shouldn't be there. He may not be the best with interacting with pups, but he knew how to protect, and it was a job he didn't take lightly.

He didn't react to her. He stood as still as the tall leafy things, but his gaze did appear to be on her and her brother. She stumbled along again, looking over her shoulder every now and then to look at the den. Was it safe to be here? Was the shadow looking at them friend or foe? Lumi felt uneasy.

Entirely disinterested in whatever his sister set her sights to, Venamis poked his little salmon pink tongue between his lips to taste the ugly, dry leaf on the ground. It stuck, naturally, and although the spiderling hadn't anticipated it, he brought it willingly into his mouth and chewed it until it was mush.

It tasted of dirt, which he rather enjoyed, and so swallowed it before he set off in search of another.

wrapping this thread up <3

Her nose lifted, her mouth opened and, with the loudest sound she had ever made, she sneezed so hard she fell to the ground again. When the world stopped spinning for a second time, she got up and had forgotten all about the adult keeping his eyes on them. She turned to find her brother, but he wasn't her favorite sibling so she decided to get her clumsy butt back into the den. Enough adventure for one day.
