Valette had come home to the den. She didn't leave her pups alone for a long period of time but sometimes it was necessary. Luckily, they knew that she would always come back and this time she had something with her that would probably spark their interest. She had a big hare in her jaws. The pups were around four weeks now, and Valette was very keen on getting them into their meat diet. Valette had already offered them regurgitated meat the last week, small amounts to slowly get them off milk. Their teeth were getting too sharp for her teats.

The mother barked to call for them, hare on the ground. The mother started to open the carcass. She felt that it was important for the pups to learn where their food came from. Plus the carcass could be a fun toy for them. The bunny fluff was quick to be pulled off and chased as it was blown through the air. They could pounce and bite the hare for all she cared. She rather had their teeth on the hare than on her. Good motto. Valette started to bite into the small beast's belly and eat from it. Letting her children explore that she was eating and that this was all very exciting.

Clay, keen-eyed and brave as always, was quick to notice his mother returning with something in her jaws. Curious, he didn't waste any time in standing to stumble over his brothers and sisters, running past them in a fury, and barreling into his mothers leg with a soft 'oof' escaping his jaws.

He wondered silently what the creature was, head tipping to the side as his tail wagged.

Clay paid no mind to the fur that flew off of it, he only stared at it for a bit before returning his attention to the creature, watching it be ripped open by his mother teeth. Something about the scene made his stomach feel uneasy— Mainly because he had never seen such a messy and violent thing. Absentmindedly, the boys jaw fell open and he tongued at the one large fang that poked out of his lips consistently. Could his teeth do that?

He was quick to cast it away though as he noticed the smell of meat and quickly dove his face into the hare with no care that he was getting messy.

The large boy was right on the heels of his youngest sibling as Valette returned to the den, however, he would hit the breaks before sliding into his mother as Clay had. West watched with large eyes at the fluffy creature Valette was now tearing into. He had seen nothing like it, but something about its smell made his mouth water.

It was then that Clay also rushed in to tear at the rabbit. That was enough convincing for the large boy as he pushed his way in to get a taste for himself. It seemed that West's hunger was never ending so once he discovered that he liked the taste, his mind practically went on autopilot as he shoved closer with no mind for his mother or siblings that might be in his way.

Her mothers summon was regarded with the lift of her head and the pricking of her ears. She was hunkered over one of her favorite furs, possessive over the object. Leta may have been due for a new one, but she did not recognize how worn and bedraggled it had become. She loved it; it smelled like her family, and when her mother or father was not near this object seemed to retain their scent like bones and other objects did not. She picked up the fur as a toddler would their baby blanket, and bounded out into the light after West and Clay, tripping over it as she went.

They had begun eating meat, though not like this. This was new, and exciting, and Leta dropped her toy and pranced over to the carcass with a wave of her tail. Not yet recognizing it as food quite yet, Leta observed her brothers with apt interest before glancing at her mother, who had begun to partake.

Leta did not yet understand that her mother was eating... not really, anyway. In fact, it looked like her mother was simply failing at picking up this thing, which must be a toy. Leta darted beside her and moved to pick it up, doing so only to let go so her mother could see. It's easy! Her warm gaze said—

What were her brothers doing? ...The same thing as mom, it seemed. Leta's brows furrowed, and she took another step toward the carcass, sniffing. It didn't smell bad... but as she tried her own hand at it, she found she could not tear and break the meat quite yet with her own teeth. Her teeth were still developing, and the young girl could not yet eat from this carcass. Leta, closer to her mothers mouth than she was her teats at this moment, instinctively knew where she must poke to get food and cause her mother to regurgitate. It would come to her what this all meant, but not this very second—no, this very second Leta hoped to poke the area she knew to with her nose.

Arrives late w/ starbucks So sorry for the delay :( It's been a rough month.

Newt often wondered what his mother was up to on her trips outside of the den. Often, the scholar was tempted to follow behind her, but he was obedient and listened to her insisting that it was safer within their den. His ears perked up immediately when he heard her return. Although he was not the first to run up to Valette, he answered her greeting back with a squeaky one of his own.

This time, however, her return was different. Between her jaws was an object that Newt had never seen before. Furry, yet not moving. His ears swerved curiously, head tilting as he awaited Valette to explain what this was. A toy? Leta seemed to think so, wandering over from her spot with her hide. West and Clay, however, seemed to pick up whatever their mother was up to.

Newt eventually approached, peering over the hare and watching intently at his mother and siblings on the opposite side of the corpse. Hesitantly, the dark boy posed his forelimbs over and leaned to get a better picture. His nose wrinkled at the strange scent.

No worries!! <3 YOU ALL LOOK SO PRETTY MY BABIES!

Valette smiled when all four seemed to charge from the den. It was a lovely sight to see. She was so proud of her fatty fluffs. Clay and West couldn't get to her fast enough and tried to copy her. The mother hummed when they instantly tried to eat the meat. She was not sure if the pups could tear pieces off with her puppy teeth, it would only give them more of a reward if they could get some pieces off. Even sucking and biting on it would give off the flavor of the meat as well.

Leta bumped her nose against her muzzle. Clever girl. Valette smiled at her and tried to already get some meat for her. The mother quickly came up with some regurgitated meat for her daughter to eat. She noticed that Newt was a little unsure about it. Valette threw up some more again but by the carcass so they started to associate the food they know with the carcass, and would connect the scents. "Come, Newt," she chuffed him closer. Because if she could make an indication how keen Clay and West were on food then there would be nothing left by the time Newt would come around. She hoped that her calling out would motivate him.

"This is a hare. It lives in the fields. Fields are open spaces without trees. Soon I will show you the fields," she explained to them. "We eat hares and other animals for the meat. The meat is inside," she bumped her nose to the opening in the belly, much the same movement the pups would give her if they wanted her to regurgitate. She smiled, tail wagging. "You like it?," she asked, seeing if they were enthused by this change or not. Plus it would be a good indication who needed more work.

As the boy gnawed on the carcass, withdrawn into his own world of bliss, he was unaware of his brother fastly approaching. And before he knew it, the toy was being tugged away much to his disliking.

Standing, he stared at his brother in awe before his face puffed and he let out a sharp growl whine. He was not able to let loose a loud one from how small he was, but hoped he got his point across. That was HIS! He got there FIRST! And he didnt want to share with anyone else.

Stepping forward, Clay rushed at his brother and was quick to topple him over with a loud screeching and a pile of dust rising around them. He didn't know how to fight, but was adamant on gripping onto the easiest thing possible. Ears. His brother's ears. As they rolled among the ground and pushed eachother over, what once was out of anger slowly regressed into play fighting, and the boy forgot all about the hare.

The boy gave no interest or acknowledgment to what was happening around him (more so to Clay's tantrum than anything else). Right now he was too busy investigating the creature before him, attempting to tear at the flesh as his mother had, but alas his teeth only let him pull the hare around. His ears would perk at the sound of Valette's voice, but he only really half listened thanks to Clay screeching into his ear canal. Annoyed by the squawking, West pressed a paw to his brother's face in an attempt to shoo him off, but soon felt the force of his weight collide with his own effectively toppling them both.

A surprised yelp escaped the tubby boy, quickly turning into a growl of his own as Clay chomped at his ear. Without a second thought, West engaged in play as well, kicking at his youngest sibling. He was the largest of his brothers and he knew it, meaning he could easily shift his weight to roll the two over, giving him the advantage to chew on his Clay's leg.

For her own part, Leta gobbled down the food. She was as food motivated as the rest, and her lack of interest in fighting at all helped her as she was distracted by her priority. Until, of course, she was full. Then the sounds her brothers made toward one another worried her. It was only for a moment as she noted they were not really mad, only playing.

She looked to her mother as she spoke, and though she appeared rapt Leta understood not a single word, not really. But she did like the way one of them sounded, and tested it out with a cooing: ooooOOt, grinning at her mother at her latest observation.

At his mother's gentle beckon, the greyscale scholar presses his hindlegs one by one over top the corpse until he's practically in the way of everyone. He attempts climbing over to get closer to the meat Valette has regurgitated for him. Fortunately, his brothers have decided fighting over the hare is more important than actually feasting on it. Newt raises his head, large puppy paws tempted to charge after the wrestling duo.

He wants to play too!

But he also does not want to get in trouble with mom. So, he follows Leta's example and starts to sniff and lick at the hare's meat. His mother's voice soothing, yet he is certain the quality of it will change soon enough due to Clay unable to handle his temper. He settles awkwardly laying across the hare's neck, and starts to gnaw at a paw, all while making funny faces at the feeling of fur against his tongue.

Oooot, he says in agreement with his sister.

Valette watched as her two boys started to wrestle. It looked like play over the food but it seemed that they were soon forgetting that there was even food. This didn't bother the mother too much as she could provide Leta and Newt with some food before the two rowdy brothers would swoop in and take it all. It was easier than to have four begging mouths around her eager for any scrap of food they could get.

Once she had enough to the two pups fighting, she nipped Clay to get his attention. He had been the instigator and the most aggressive one. "Eat," she spoke as she offered both of them a small pile of regurgitated meat. She turned to Newt and Leta with a smile. "Yes! Foood," she returned to them. Typical that their first word sounded like food. "Can you also say: Mama?," she asked them. "Maaamaaa," she spoke more slowly.
