@Tundra   Set after this thread
Flicker slowed as she entered the heartwood, her eyes darting everywhere. There was a reason she'd kept away from the south-western side of the temporary territory. She'd been attacked here once before -- so soon it would happen again. This time, though, she was ready. So ready. The pair of birds clutched in her jaws were ready to be dropped for a favoured target.
Tundra.
It was no doubt she'd be following the southern woman.

Flicker stalked with stealth and pride, her legs stiff but quick, her tail curled high and hackles bristled. She half wondered if she'd be blindsided or confronted. Or if she'd make it to the borders unscathed.

she has to bite back the sharp desire to let loose a treacherous laugh upon realising where it is that flicker roams towards. the fucking heartwood, are you serious? the one forest she'd skipped over due to pure assumption but come on, who wouldn't assume that no one would be just plain stupid enough to set up shop somewhere like that. but then again, if going somewhere no one would think to look was your idea then she supposed they'd definitely gotten that in the bag alright.

yet as she passes into the burnt out shell of a wood she realises that the place really is uninhabited and always had been. at that dark eyes narrow in instant suspicion, she'd already been on high alert but it's x100 now as she peers cautiously about her surroundings. her nose continues to twitch with each light step, making sure flicker hasn't backtracked to surprise her or gathered a few buddies but it still continues on so albeit slowly, she still follows like a small pale shadow.

it's after a bit more of this that she realises that flicker is simply passing through the wasteland and already as she grows closer to the edge she can catch that all too familiar whiff of melonii. her nose wrinkles in instant distaste although something else twinges within her too as she catches herself unable to think that not too far away might be aries. really not the time to care about that but it had been months since she'd seen him, she hadn't even known maegi yet which made it in turn seem like a lifetime ago. these blackfeather wolves had come to mean so much to her so fast, it was honestly a bit unsettling.

at that she'd be jerked back into reality by the sudden increasing strength of flicker's scent and sure enough a couple more steps had the girl coming into view, a splash of crimson amongst the bland colours associating the death around them. she's cautious at first but she'd been trained in the mode of combat and it didn't fail her now, her senses could tell her with practised ease that there was no one else waiting here. for now at least, it was still just her and flicker. with that in mind she'd basically stroll over as if ready to address an old friend. well funny that, flicker almost was in some twisted way. "well look at that, what are the odds hm?although that little grin would resume its position curling around her snout, there was a dark glittering to her eyes that betrayed the real situation at paw. under her thick pelt her muscles tensed, she knew now where her pack sheltered but the question was, was flicker going to let her away with it?

Flicker whipped to Tundra with a snarl, the birds dropping with a dead thud. So, she was correct in her assumption. Again, she was followed in bad name. ”I told you to go home. Unless you don’t have one I’d recommend you fuck off and stop following me.” Each word was projected with an icy, venomous tip. She wouldn’t stand to be followed home, not that she’d willingly give away the location. They’d be moving all too soon anyway.

In warning, she lunged forward, snapping her teeth in emphasis of her point, hoping to try and just scare the lost puppy away. She didn’t want to stand for anymore shit Blackfeather gave her. Though, she could certainly use the opportunity to prove herself and regain her legacy. If only she had Mor and Cinders here to share it  — would she share the glory this time, though?

the light would glint off pearly fangs as she bared that sharp toothed smile, bearing a shark like resemblance with her menacing grin and the swirling darkness of both eyes trained on the snarling woman. at the threat she'd stalk forward- pelt bristling as she closed some of the distance in a few confident strides. "is that a threat?she'd ask, raising brows in mock shock as her tail swished along the crumbling earth. all the while her nose continued to twitch, taking in everything she could while the other spat away. if this had been any forest perhaps their pack's scent would've gotten lost amongst the abundance of scents caused by the lush vegetation and other life residing within, but the land of death didn't have that. in this shell of a wood the breeze would still hold on to snatches of the pack flicker had been headed right towards- and of course that was her dear family of bitter melonii's. obviously they had settled on the other side of her woods, leaving them at the beginning of the flats. now that seemed conveniently close to her own home, confirming ramsay's suspcions that their retreat hadn't been quite so permanent.

it was just a shame flicker had to be brought into the equation, as much as it joyed her personally she knew in reality it wasn't a good thing. she'd surely scuttle back to damien like a pathetic little insect and be overjoyed to get perhaps a nod of approval at being able to deliver the news that their hideout had been discovered. nevertheless she would've done her job and if it did cause the melonii to move on she was pretty sure it'd only drive them further away, not as good as knowing where they were exactly but not the worst outcome either. "you know what's funnyshe'd say suddenly, eyeing her company up with bitter amusement. "somewhere in that little head of yours you've managed to lie to yourself enough to believe you really are the good guy herea sharp laugh sounds from her jaws, piercing the still air and disrupting a lone bird eyeing them from a charred branch. "why don't you go home, and i don't mean that little camp you've set up near my home. but all of you back to where you belong and focus on yourselves for a change, if you want to play good guy so bad then leave us the fuck aloneshe hissed, false niceties gone as she glared- lips pulled back now in a true snarl.

it seemed playing cool and nice was all easy stuff when you didn't actually care much for what it was that you were fighting for, but for the first time tundra believed in what she was doing. she wasn't doing it because she had to, she was doing it because she wanted to. for once there was more than just her life on the line, and it left her feeling such a strong sense of rage and responsibility that it was almost overpowering. yet at the same time it was invigorating. so as the adrenaline sang in the blood pumping through her veins and the little bitch jumped forward with her snap, tundra would let loose a guttural growl and throw her own muscled body at the slight fae in her own effort to throw her back. she knew she had what she needed and unecessary fighting shouldn't be on her agenda but this newfound rage was impossible to ignore and she drank the adrenaline greedily as if it were a drug, she wouldn't do anything serious. if flicker ran she'd stop, she just wasn't prepared to let her demand her home. this was still neutral ground after all and flicker had been the first to string her threats, tundra definitely didn't appreciate that.

The good guy?
She certainly was not and she knew that, but what she'd don't was what settled her conscience and what she did was, usually, what she believed. Not what she said, much, nor what she did in her spare time, but what she did in the matter of law and rightnesses was correct; to her at least.
No one could be perfectly correct to someone else, though she knew -- knew -- Tundra would have her own regrets about her actions that she decided was right.
They all did.

With that said, wouldn't Maegi be right to herself in leaving? Perhaps. But in Flicker's perspective, who felt the necessity to stay for Relmyna's kids, it was not. They had little knowledge of the outside world and their safety was at risk. She didn't doubt they couldn't hold their own but if they attacked someone who could easily kill them, they probably have been killed.
It was all perspective.

Tundra pushed back, her maw wide open to catch the fire-clad woman. Flicker dropped herself down, reducing her target level significantly, and threw herself forward, driving upwards, at Tundra. Her teeth sought to catch on her let or chest -- anything. Hopefully, with a little bit of luck, Tundra would be caught out by the drop to be caught.

when the arrogant woman retaliated with violence rather than picking the smart choice and getting the hell outta here, the time for thinking was gone. instinct would take its turn, grabbing greedily at the control panel of her brain to let her give into the animal she truly was; now was the time for action. so having already felt like a tightly strung bow due to the excess adrenaline pumping throughout her body during this whole encounter she exploded into movement, letting this pent up energy soar as it so wished to. her body hummed with delight as it was allowed do what it did best, for this pent up energy hadn't really just built up upon seeing flicker; it had been simmering and beginning to build the moment she'd set foot in teekon and found the peace she'd sought for so long.

flicker dropped quickly and darted forward and although it resulted in tundra meeting nothing but empty air- she had suspected the fiery girl to dive at her no matter what height she chose to do it from and so with a light grunt she'd maneuvur her body with a soldier's grace, feeling teeth not manage to quite get a hold of her but scrape along her chest nevertheless, leaving a shallow but visible scratch although for now adrenaline worked better than any painkiller as she continued to turn and without a moments hesitation attempt to dive for the unprotected back of her neck, hoping to manage to latch her jaws around or onto it whilst using the momentum to force her body to remain in its crouched position.

Foreign blood sprung into her mouth as she slashed past her opponent. She revealed in the tang it left, also disgusted by the fact that she could do this to someone she’d once shared a home with.
Nevertheless, she had to continue.

She was already pushing up to reel around when teeth latched into her scruff and a weight pressed down, staunching her action at a half-stand.
They fight with Revui had taught her one thing; use everything you have.
With a guttural snarl, southerner threw herself sideways into Tundra, trying to topple her. To push her back. Her teeth searched for purchase, reaching for her shoulder, something that will inflict pain.

her jaws made contact with the woman's scruff but it was a short lived victory for even as she pushed her weight down on the wolf like the little worm she was she squirmed out of her grasp and threw herself into her. all tundra could hope was that she'd managed to at least tear some of the skin around her scruff because of the force with which it was torn from her iron jawed grasp but it was gone too quick for her to get to taste that metallic tang if blood had reached the surface.

her ears remained flat against her head in an act of self defense as she stepped back with flicker's lunge, moving quickly to avoid jaws snapping fervently in her direction. like a bull she'd drop her head, tucking it close to her chest and kicking off with strong hind legs right at fliker's chest in an effort to wind and stun her with the assumption that her passionate attack had her lacking as much of the defensive front and that since tundra had been initially moving backwards this would have surprise on her side too. sure she had put herself dangerously close to the enemies' teeth and she did feel them make occasional nicks at her when she'd moved towards them but such a strong hit to the chest should stun her enough to bide tundra at least a few seconds if she were succesful. seconds were like gold at moments like this.

if that worked she'd now throw her head up to try knock at the woman's jaw and then fix her own steel grip around her muzzle and apply enough pressure to wound without breaking anything. yield dammit she'd think through an endless string of low growls.
hope that made sense i typed it rlly quick >>

Flicker had a sense of winning this fight. That Tundra being pushed back would be the start of her victory. She'd escaped the snaps but that was ok. Flicker was about to rally herself and hail another concession of blows then she was blindsided in the chest. The air rushed from her in a gasp and teeth swiped upwards to rip along the side of her muzzle.
She yanked her head up away from the teeth and tumbled backward, quickly tucking her chin in to stop her finishing the job. She tried to inhale, the air barely passing into her lungs.

She stood, braced for another blow but not making one of her own. At least not yet.
She felt like she'd lost by now. Time slowed and her gaze trailed on Tundra but didn't register.
She needed to get her away from the borders.
Time sped up again as the thought came to her, her eyes once again registering her opponent's actions and adjusted accordingly for what was to come.

Tundra can make her escape here if you want <3

thanks for this!<3 left it open in case you want one last reply, if not feel free to archive it

so her head definitely made contact and whilst she succeeded in knocking flicker back that didn't mean she wasn't definitely gonna have a headache later. totally worth it though. she didn't manage to quite grab a hold of the woman's muzzle but she could settle with what she managed and still got to enjoy the feeling of her teeth dragging along the soft flesh.

as the red toned traitor backed off, tucking up in self defense tundra would hold off launching another attack despite her tensed muscles basically screaming at her to, it took a lot to force herself down from her high but luckily a sensible part of her continued to warn that she just wanted to push flicker back enough to leave in peace. okay and maybe teach her a bit of a lesson too but by continuing much more she could start something much bigger than she was supposed to and so simply settled to shaking her aching head whilst keeping a wary eye on her company lest she thought it smart to jump back in for more.

eventually she seemed to simply brace herself, regarding tundra with watchful gold eyes and so the soldier took that as a win on her part despite the blood staining the pale fur of her chest. panting as the adrenaline began to leak from her at the sudden lack of action she'd simply nod; no words had to be said to express the message they both knew. for now that was it, but that'd definitely not be the last time they'd probably be faced against each other like this. but for now- it was time for them to both return home, she'd gotten what she needed anyway. with a flick of her ears she'd back up slowly- refusing to turn her back on the woman until she was a decent distance away and would then turn and trot briskly home- keeping ears tilted back just in case the melonii snake got any stupid ideas.
