All Welcome
Between Firefly Glen & The Heartwood; late evening.
@Okeanos is travelling with her. For @Arcturus but open!
For the arc: "Culture Clash"

The rain wasn't so bad; refreshing at first, actually, until it go heavier as the night swept closer, and Ibis sought shelter as she roamed. We're going to ignore timelines for now because Java has had a very long day — but lets set this in the early evening. The stars would be out if the clouds weren't blocking the view, and as Ibis sauntered through the glen she was struck by how brilliant the stars looked within the limits of the trees. That didn't make sense - but after doing a double-take she realized they weren't stars at all, but some kind of bug. At first this made her queasy, but the girl was easily transfixed by the drifting little lights, and with the rain drumming softly against the boughs overhead, she settled in to watch the lights drift and dance in the shadows. Whatever fears Ibis would usually hold did not set themselves within her heart tonight; it was a magical moment, and she had spent so many hours exploring that she settled easily in to a daze as she observed them.

A haunch for the gheist of the haunted wood. Paltry offerings in exchange for a blessedly bloodless affair.

The silver-kissed she-wolf ranged north in search of suitable game. While Midar had failed to define the exact nature of her promise, Aputitaq did not possess mischief enough to return with a rigored leg of some small sparrow or the tiny, shredded remains of a young kit. She wound through the dense undergrowth, lissome frame twisting effortlessly as she slunk through branch, bramble, and stream alike while the rain pattered against the canopy above. Lights flickered; winking in and out like the errant remains of embers carried on the wind. She knew them to be insects. Strange, lumescent little creatures.

Only when she paused to lap at a pool collecting at the base of a tall oak did she note the presence of another here. A girl, cloaked in moon-touched shades of earth, and sea. Aputitaq blinked, cupped her ears, and gradually lifted her head from where it hung. A few droplets of water fell from her chin. She scented another; a male, but could not make him out. The thought of him sowed unease in her chest, but she held firm to courage as she claimed three steps forward.

"Have you never seen them before?" she inquired softly as not to frighten.

The lights drifted around her, moving from her path as she shifted idly through the glen, but when she stopped they seemed to buzz around her curiously, then settled and dimmed in patches. Ibis rested there and watched the constellations form and dance, and even tried reaching out with a curious sniff as she spied some larger bugs land on some small spits of green around her. They erupted with movement to escape her - and for a second she felt bad, but the magic distracted her.

Have you never seen them before? A voice called softly through the shadowed glen, and Ibis turned her attention towards the source, sleepy and in awe. They shouldn't have been as intriguing as they were. Ibis liked to think that magic was real and for a bit, with those bugs and their lights, it really seemed to be true. No, never, she almost whispered back, not wanting to disturb the creatures. Do you know what they are?
