All Welcome
Some time after Pumpkin’s adventures with the bear and the woman who looked a bit like her, she was off. She found a creek and followed it northwest, and soon found herself standing on the bank of a gigantic lake. She was surrounded by trees and could hear the calls of birds and other wildlife. Ducks swam in the lake. It seemed a busy place. She liked it here. She could imagine it would be an excellent place to live in high summer. When you got hot, you could just slip into the water to cool off. And when you were hungry, there was plenty of prey around.

Pumpkin grinned lazily as she trotted around the western side of the lake. It was too far to cross the other side by swimming. Besides, it was colder today than it had been in the last few days, and it was drizzling. Not a great day for a swim. Still, the cold didn’t bother her so much as it reminded her that autumn was coming. She continued to move through the trees, wondering what she would find on the other side of the lake. She hoped to stop soon, to find a pack that would take her in. She wanted a place to call home.

He had been traveling this land for quite a bit and his paws were cut up a bit but not beyond repair. He was searching for a safe place to rest his head for a short while when he came up to a body of water and let out a short sigh of relief as he lapped up the cool water and hadn’t even noticed the other that was also in the area and coming closer to him.

His ears perked up as he heard the rustling of the earth and he looked around for its cause. The thing he wasn’t expecting was to see his sister and his tail wagged in happiness; yet he didn’t approach. “Pumpkin.” He said simply to himself as she seemed a bit far to him and he was unsure if she could hear him.

Pumpkin was too busy listening to birdcalls and the sound of water slapping against the shoreline to hear her brother mutter her name. She didn’t even hear him walking behind her. At home, there had never been any kind of threat to her life, or the lives of her family, so she hadn’t learned to be cautious and listen for sounds that were out of the ordinary. And she was still young, a teenager, and thought herself at the top of the world. She continued trotting along happily, occasionally shaking water from her fur where the drizzle had soaked through. Would her brother catch up to her, or simply let her wander ahead?

She hadn’t heard her name called nor did she look around for what may be around and he was determined to get her attention as he ran up to her stopping over a few inches away; giving a low chuff, he announced his presence. “Hello sister.” He said simply, unsure if she would be happy to see him; seeing as though they both went their separate ways.

Sorry this took so long and it's so short. Oof.

A chuff from behind her caused Pumpkin to spin around, her eyes wide. But when she saw who it was, she let out a happy yip, her tail wagging. She reared up to place her paws on her brother’s shoulders in a kind of wolf hug. “Mocha!” she exclaimed. “What are you doing here? We separated a while ago.” She hadn’t expected to see either of her siblings for a long time. She thought maybe they’d see each other some day, but not so soon. “Have you seen Cinnamon?” she asked on a whim. After all, if he’d caught up with her, it stood to reason he might have caught up with their sister at some point, too.

His sister was happy to see him and it warmed his heart to see his sister happy and doing well for herself. “Honestly I just kept on the move, never really finding that one place I belonged and ended up here.” At the mention of cinnamon he sighed and shook his head but quickly smiled. “No not yet but I might! Who knows.” It was a big world after all and he had much to explore. “How are you doing? It’s been a minute since we lost saw each other.”
