All Welcome
it was an uneventful first few months of life, and though the woods was fun to explore, she wondered that surely there was more out there than her mother, her sister, and the shadows that surrounded them.

presently, she chewed on a particularly disinteresting bone of some miserable creature mother had killed, wondering if she would see her sister hobbling towards her at some point to try and steal it from her. apparently, their father had turned up. but scylla wasn't easily entertained and gave the thought a mere shrug before returning to her bone. the bone was still, quite boring. it didn't move when she bit down, it didn't make noise when she tore into it with her tiny baby teeth, and it didn't try to run as she threw it around. how pathetic. "HELL!" she ear-piercingly screamed, summoning her twin with the typical, youthful demanding tone. she didn't like it when she didn't get what she wanted, and narrowed her eyes as she surveyed her surroundings with hope that her littermate would not simply ignore her call. "HELL!"

Hela was watching, not particularly interested in the bone but rather the fight that would occur should she try and nab it. when Scylla called for her, however, the hellion promptly lost interest in that tactic and instead inched her way around her sibling, exercising all the sneaking skills she'd learned so far. refined, recently, by skulking after the most suspicious new member of the woods, the idiot boy who she liked nearly as much as she liked Rowan. they'd be better off if both happened to fall into the ravine.

her ears flattened against her skull and a moment later she steaked towards her sister like a bat out of hell, a "SCANK" tearing from her lips as she leaped unnecessarily high, attempting to land atop her sister, limbs splayed out and lips peeled.

i shadow posted, so made a small edit   :)

From deep within the forest, a voice demanded attention. It echoed through the trees, obnoxious, interrupting Venamis' favoured silence enough to pique his frustrated curiosity. He pressed on through shadow with a careful stride until he found an unfamiliar presence.

The body which had unleashed such a sound was not nearly as large as he anticipated, and Ven pressed his ebony ears forward briefly as he paused to eye the speckled youngster with quiet suspicion. She resembled the dark-furred adult from his most recent border interaction, but he failed to consider any such relation between them.

Only when he spotted the girl's awful sister leaping out of nowhere did he prepare to turn away, hopefully unnoticed - suddenly aware that he was in no mood to deal with either of them.

SCANK im screaming

well, she didn't expect that.

the wind is knocked out of her as her sister belly-flops on top of her, and she snarls loudly as she does so. scylla didn't like to loose, and she writhed under the other girl who had her pinned to the ground purely out of body weight. she snapped her jaws at her sister's face, but in having no real combat training, she failed to find purchase in any of her strikes. "you snuck. that's cheating, stupid idiot!" she managed to get out, before catching sight of another watchful gaze. "you! get her off now!" the girl commanded of the other, who she noticed was not another girl but a boy, of all things. was he just going to stand there opened mouth as she was thwarted by this heathen? and what was he looking at? didn't he have anything better to do than question her about things that were none of his business? scylla let out a frustrated growl, unappreciative of the fact that not only was she getting beaten, but there was an audience to account for it.

she'd have to swear him to silence later.

"it's not." she ascertains when enough breath returns to her lungs, scrabbling to stay on top of Scylla as her sister tries to writhe free. she's completely failed to notice the boy, that is, until her sister calls out to him. her attention is immediately drawn towards Venamis, which gives Scylla the opportunity to (hopefully) get free. either way, she rolls free of the squabble to eye him, lurching to her paws.

eyes narrowing, she calls sharply, "hey!" the boy's retreat spark her newly strengthening prey instinct, and with barely a second thought, she issued a "let's get him." to her sister and took off towards him, hoping to utilize the same attack she'd just used.

She called out, this time to him, barking demands than he go to her aid at once. Venamis regarded her with a mere flick of a single black ear, disinterested in her woes and not caring to intervene, until the other cub spoke up.

The spiderling peered toward the duo, tail flagged immediately as the ashen child suggested that they both "get him". Venamis' lips twitched, threatening to pull back and reveal the fangs beneath, and he swung around to face the youngsters as one pressed forward toward him.

He was no skilled warrior, but Venamis had never been bested by a sibling - even when they attempted to outdo him collectively. This time was different, however. The young Melonii did not know these kids and their trickery, so he felt the weight of his concern that he might lose his self-appointed title of "unbeatable".

Braced for impact and jaws parted, Ven laced his ears back and pierced the approaching youth with his Winter-white stare. Bodies collided and he brought Hela into his space with the most ferocious snarl he could muster, reaching to connect his teeth to her shoulder in a firm bite.

scylla narrowed malicious eyes towards the boy as her sister spoke, a slow grin developing on her maw.

"lets kill him." the girl piped up devilishly, wondering if perhaps playing with the boy would be more entertaining than the bone. she had seen her mother kill before, but not for sport, for food. was killing different when the purpose was not to hunt? there was no guarantee that she had the courage or strength to go through with it, but a part of her driven by youthful curiosity felt the need to experience holding something else's pulsating neck under her claws. perhaps, she got it from her father. as the older boy moved to defend hela's abrupt lunge, scylla snaked around side his flank and lunged at the exposed side of his neck. that's how mother killed young deer. the neck seemed to be a fatal point in a creature's anatomy, and she wanted to test that theory.

had she been alone, Hela might have retreated from the outright attack, attempted to use some kind of strategy in her attack. but she wasn't, and Scylla's words only served to bolster her confidence. though were Venemis snarled and Scylla shouted, the third Melonii was only silent, driven by her single-minded determination.

when his fangs connected with her shoulder, she attempted to drive her own into his muzzle; if successful, she would attempt to hold on for as long as possible. if he couldn't move his face without difficulty, he couldn't launch a full-scale counter-attack on her sister. despite the ferocity with which they fought, their underdeveloped jaw strength and curious mixture of adult and baby teeth (in Hela's case, at least) kept them from any real harm.

His fangs took hold of his attacker's shoulder, though it was a small victory. While he revelled in his success for the briefest of moments, another assault came - one he'd expected but failed to prepare for. Needle sharp canines tugged the loose hide at his neck and as he released Hela's shoulder and moved to react, another set of jaws found purchase on his face.

She'd aimed for the bridge of his snout, but connected with his cheek instead. Venamis moved urgently to tear himself free of the offense on such a delicate area with a surprised yelp, but with an attacker on either side of him he struggled to escape. He felt the puncture by Hela beneath a Winter-white eye sting and throb, enough to loose a feral snarl as he rounded on the darker of the duo's ear with teeth in attempt to free himself of her grip.

It was a hopeless manoeuvre, his player thought, for Ven was outnumbered. No matter his attack on one sister, he left himself open to assault by the other and he was too arrogant (or dumb) to admit defeat.

they collided for what felt like eon's though in reality was likely only a few moments. all parties were spared significant damage by the simple fact that they were young, lacking brute strength and refined skill. eventually, Hela attacked her sister's leg instead of Venamis, which may or may not have been a true accident. in any case, the fight quickly devolved, and a moment later Hela was charging through the trees, her sister hot on her tail and wild grin pasted across her muzzle.
