Mature Content Warning

This thread has been marked as mature. By reading and/or participating in this thread, you acknowledge that you are of age or have permission from your parents to do so.

The participants have indicated the following reason(s) for this warning: Gruesome death.
dated for 9.15. as per the death roll: rip blodreina.

blodreina's stomach roils uncomfortably as the eerie quiet erupts into a horrific crescendo of quaking earth that trembles underfoot. fear threatens to paralyze her — once more she is a scared girl running for her life as sleeping dragon roars to life and sets a rockslide upon the wolves that would become drageda. praimfaya, the breath pushes from her lungs in a cold rush as she hurries from the borders into arrow lake, towards the towering sunspire though everything in her tells her to turn away. near the mountain is the worst place to be but it is where praimfaya has said she was going. in the next second, blodreina worries over @Ingram — not sure which way he'd went when they parted ways that morning.

praimfaya's form comes into view as she carefully picks her way from the outcropping of rock. wanheda, hurry! blodreina barks at her daughter in trigedasleng, casting a weary glimpse up at the towering landmark she'd once seen as a fortress. now, she sees it for what it was: a death omen. the earth trembles again, nearly knocking praimfaya off balance as she clears the rock and touches upon solid ground — but big jagged rocks teeter on the edge up high and dislodge. wanheda! blodreina ...mother of the commander, guardian of the commander rushes forward to shove praimfaya out of the way without gentleness, feeling the shock as the rock collides with her body and traps her beneath it.

then comes the pain. white hot and excruciating.

mama! praimfaya is screaming, digging furiously, trying to dig her out. even if she succeeds — which blodreina knows she will not — blodreina can feel herself dying. each breath is excruciating and she can taste the blood, feel it in her lungs, feel it slowly drowning her. there was no saving her. not this time. she always thought she'd die in battle ...and yet she was dying the best way she could: saving her commander, giving her life so her daughter will live.

wan...heda — save your energy. blodreina tells her. i am dying, wanheda ...and you and your father must go to— the fight is waning, draining from her with each shallow breath. she coughs and blood bubbles from her muzzle. roangeda. my fight is over, wanheda. tears blur her vision and she leans into praimfaya's touch. your fight is over, blodreina eyjolfur kom roankru. praimfaya says upon trembling breath as blodreina closes her eyes and draws a last, painful and shallow breath ...letting the void of death take her.

praimfaya lets out a mournful howl and upon numb legs cannot stand to spend another second in diaspora — she flees towards broken antler fen.

what do you do when your entire world comes crumbling downward? the answer, ingram found, was scream in horror.

he saw the rock for what it was too late; the smile that hung on his lips to see his family was torn asunder as the rock lost its grip with its stony tether. praimfaya, lingering just under its descent — ingram spurred himself into action in horror, too far away to do anything but yell. PRAIMFAYA! his voice thundered, a rare and powerful tone for a man usually so gently spoken.

blodreina had seen what ingram had, and in a terrific effort shoved their daughter aside — at a terrific cost. horror enveloped ingram as he watched helpless for what happened next; the rock groaned and snarled and fell with sickening finality on —

REINA! ingram cried, rushing towards his mate with his voice cracked and shock contorting his features. he could barely look upon the scene; he knew it was bad, he knew — held tight between earth and stone, blodreina’s time was slowly running out.

choking back a sob, ingram crawled stupidly towards his beloved, his heart, his family. he didn’t care, suddenly, about the stones or the rockslide above. he didn’t care about peril. don’t leave us, reina.. his gaze had rimmed over with tears, his breath was shaky — cradling blodreina’s bloody head between his paws ingram helplessly let loose a sorrowed howl, stupefied and shocked into blubbering hopelessness.

his moans of horror and grief were short lived as he saw a flash of his daughter’s fur — torn between the love of his life and the life he loved, ingram held reina in his tearful gaze one last time (one last time, the last time), quietly placed her head gently on the ground, and then he too ran after praimfaya, the image of his crushed mate burned harrowingly into his mind.
i'm gonna hold a pen
while you drag my arm across the page.

Not unlike the days before, the ground shuddered beneath her. Nyx, having been resting at the lake's edge, first lifted her raven-tipped crown to press her ears forward and gaze with surprise as the water's surface rippled and the pebbles shifted.

These tremors did not dissipate. Instead they heightened and the tawny Ostrega scrambled to her paws, braced herself, wild yellow eyes frantically searching for somewhere to run to. There was nowhere suitable, she was swift to realise, nowhere she could hide from the quaking ground, nowhere [/i]safe[/i]. But time was valuable, she felt, and so she bolted.

Wherever she tried to settle, there was despair. There was destruction and suffering. There was death. She truly saw that now, as her fearful gallop brought her before a grim sight: a dark figure, sobbing and shaking as he hovered over something among the rubble.

Blodreina.

Mouth dry, limbs trembling, guard hairs bristling along the length of her spine, Nyx stood rooted to the spot as she felt the bitter tang of bile threaten to force it's way up through her throat with each heave of her breath. She listened to Ingram's cries, his plea, and although her heart yearned to follow him as he turned and fled, Nyx found herself unable to move.

She simply stood there, unblinking, watching her fallen comrade and wishing with every fibre of her being that it had been her.
