She hardly found the energy to be worried by the tremors that constantly plagued them recently, though she understood why they had everyone on edge. Had she not been drowning in grief, she might have felt similarly, but for now, she had to focus on staying functional enough to be a mother and a leader; the latter was something she wasn't sure she should be doing in her current state, but she had been trying to do her best. When @Mahler had departed to find out more about the quaking, he had only informed her with a call as he was leaving, and she couldn't help but grow irritated with General. She tried to be understanding; the rumbles and tremors were a concern, she didn't disagree with him there. But did he have to leave now? With death of her sister so fresh and laying so heavily on all of the other despair that plagued her existence recently, she couldn't help but feel some resentment that she had been left to deal with things on her own. Couldn't they send a scout out for this mission? Diaspora needed Mahler, and as much as she hated to admit it, so did she. It all felt way too familiar, reminding her of her time leading IkKanattuk when Sia had disappeared and left her to shoulder all of the responsibility. Maybe emotion was affecting her ability to see this clearly, but there was no way she could wade through her misery and find a way to be logical, at least not right now.

She dutifully patrolled the borders, stopping occasionally when the ground vibrated to drag her calculating gaze across the horizon. Dusk was hours away, and the air had already started to cool. The breeze rustled her fur as if the mountains were trying to calm her turmoil with the promise of winter. It felt nice, as it always did, but there was nothing that could soothe her hurt right now, at least nothing that was really attainable. Still, she lifted her face into the wind and drew in a deep breath. The scent of her sister was fading fast from the territory, grabbing a hold of her hope and pulling it from her as it diminished with each mountain breeze.
