@Eastwood || Evening, 41˚, Mostly Cloudy.

She had spent most of the day watching the sky. It had changed and morphed in a way she had never witnessed. A day of looking at the sky that spoke omens she could not understand had left her somber, slipping away to hide from the cloudy heavens. She could not sleep under the open skies tonight. It was the familiar fruit forest that she found herself slipping off to. She already knew where she was to haunt for the night, as thoughts of an affectionate night danced in her mind.

Who could blame her for returning to such comforting thoughts when the world seemed to be growing so dark?

The sky worried him too. And the quakes that seemed to be demolishing the mountains in front of their very eyes. He was beginning to think they needed to take a cue from the prey and get the hell out of here. But where would they go? It scared him to be faced with such uncertainty.

So he had wandered to the forest for the same reason as Eleni: to take comfort in the memories that were contained here. He didn't know she was here too, but he was beyond grateful when he realized that she was. Her scent was easy to track through trees, but he slowed as he neared, his eyebrows drawing together in concern as he took in her gloomy state. Eleni? he said softly as he came to her side. Are you okay?

She knew who it was without even having to look, his all too familiar voice drifting in the stillness of the night. His question carried weight that she was not sure he knew of. Only after a beat of silence did she lift her head to gaze upon his face. No. It was the truth, she did not have the best track record of lying so there was no point in hiding. Yet she did not elaborate for curiosity gripped her — a usual trend when in the presence of him. Are you? She wondered what he made of the world in its current state, what he felt in general, what had drawn him out the woods. There was undeniable curiosity in the depths of her ruby eyes.

He frowned when she answered no and sat so that their sides touched, reaching over to nuzzle her cheek in silent comfort. Before he could ask for more information, she asked him the same thing. He sighed a little, loathe to dump his worries on her when she already seemed upset, but he wouldn't lie...not to her. I'm worried we are unsafe here, he answered, remaining close and taking comfort in her presence. The sky, the crumbling mountains, the quaking earth—it all filled him with dread, but he had no idea what to do about it, which only intensified his fear about their future.

His concerns were certainly valid. She liked to think all of them were plagued by the rumblings of the earth and the odd events that came with. I fear we wouldn’t be safe anywhere. If not even the heavens were safe, where would be? But she couldn’t bring herself to dwell on it as she buried her face into the fur of his neck. Selfish desires burned within her to take solace in him, to take the comfort he provided and wrap herself within it. It was with care that she moved to brush her nose along his jawline wondering what she might spur within him.

He desperately wished he had something reassuring to say. But how could he when he shared the same fear? Nothing he thought to say sounded good enough, so he let silence fall between them. He leaned into her when she sought comfort in the fur of his neck, closing his eyes when he felt her soft touch along his jaw. Her affection helped to sooth the anxiety, and he released soft sigh. Even with things being so uncertain, he couldn't help but feel grateful for her. The depth of his new feelings was frightening, but there was no way he could fight them, especially not right now with her gentle touches along his jaw and the feeling of her body against his; it was all so intoxicating. He wondered if she even realized the effect she had on him.

She had no words for him but any speech felt unnecessary. However she did continue to shower him in displays of affection. Slowly she moved to brush around him in a full circle. He was a mountain compared to her. Where she was lean he had been built strong. Rich colors painted him. Eleni could have admired him for hours and picked out all the little things that made him so unique. Instead she took a few strides ahead of him before offering a gentle flick of her tail — a silent dare for him to follow her.

He was content to bask in her affection, his eyes only opening when he felt her move from his side. He watched her as she circled him, his eyes drawn to her slender frame as she moved. But then she was gone, trotting forward in front of him on lithe paws, the flick of her tail beckoning him to follow. He rose quickly to his feet and trotted forward, nipping her shoulder playfully once he closed the distance she had put between them. Then he waited for her to move again, happy to follow wherever she would lead him.

It was almost like a dance that she did, tip-toeing ahead of him once more after he nipped her shoulder. A soft yet playful whine slipped through her lips before she bounded off through the woods, rounding a few trees here and there but making sure to always stay in his sight. The Tilani had no plans of losing him in the forest. She halted a few meters away as she half-hid around a tree. Deep red gaze looked to him with an eagerness as she anticipated his chase for her. He would follow, wouldn't he?

As soon as he reached her, she was off again, releasing a playful noise that had him lifting his tail high to wave it excitedly. He watched her flit around the trees until she paused behind one to look at him from behind its trunk. The invitation to chase was clear in her gaze as he met it with a playful grin. Then he sprang forward after her, hoping she would eventually let him catch her. He assumed she was probably faster than he was, so he was completely at her mercy, something he found he didn't mind at all. And if playing took her mind off things, then he would gladly participate.

Faster she may have been, but she would always stay in the careful boundaries of just out of reach. She had no desire to be completely ahead of him and too far to catch up to. Assuming he kept giving chase she would not lead them very far. Only a few notable trees would pass them before she slowed her pace with the intent of allowing him to find her side. She had never been good at keeping up facades and surely it was well known — to him at least, she hoped — how much she desired his presence.

Every time he sprinted forward after her, he would just barely reach her, and then she would burst forward, ensuring she was only ever just within his reach. He had a feeling she could move faster than she was but was grateful she seemed to want him to remain close. When she slowed enough that he could finally catch up with her, he brushed against her side and playfully nipped her shoulder again before moving up to offer the same to her neck. It wasn't often he had this much fun, and it was easy to get carried away with the chase and forget anything existed other than the two of them.

She was pleased that he gave chase. It was exhilarating to lead him through the forest and have him right behind her. When he caught up it was a rumble that escaped her and his playful bites prompted her to bump into his form a touch rougher this time. She would keep gradually slowing her pace until she brought herself to a stop. Ruby eyes would admire him with ease. Her tail whipped behind her like a banner. What now? She asked as she moved to brush against him. It was his turn to take the reins.

Any bump from her would elicit a playful grin from him. He was surprised to feel that her nudges were not as gentle as she had been in the past; he liked it, and it was incredibly distracting, as was the soft brush of her fur against his. He was so distracted that he didn't register her request at first, but when he did, he offered a shake of his head, uttering a somewhat surprised, Umm, while he tried to gather his thoughts. She wanted him to be inventive? He had no imagination; a lifetime of being a soldier had conditioned that right out of him. And coming up with fun things to do was not really a strength of his. He panicked a little and went with the first thing he could think of, releasing a playful growl and leaping towards her, hoping to gently tackle her to the ground.

"Umm,"

She had been ready to tease him for his indecisive answer but oh. Suddenly his weight was against her and she gave in with ease. Even if she had resisted his force there was no way she would have won. He, a mountain of a man, was far stronger than herself. By the time her thoughts switched back to reality her back was meeting the ground. Forelegs were thrown out towards his form with the intent of wrapping around his neck and pulling him down with her. She was not going down without bringing him with.

Even if she hadn't wrapped her paws around his neck to pull him down with her, he would have gone. They landed on the ground with a soft thud, East careful not to land with too much of his weight on her. A deep laugh shook his frame as he lie on top of her, his breaths coming out in exhilarated pants. With another playful growl, he reached down to softly mouth the fur of her neck. And now that he had her here at his mercy (or so he thought) he didn't plan on letting her up any time soon.

In that moment she was entirely at his mercy, even if neither one of them openly said so.

Oh what an exhilarating feeling it was though. She did not mind it one bit — to feel the weight of him, to be so close and entangled. Her held tilted back for a moment as she relished the moment of his affections. It was a soft songbird laughter that escaped her as she found herself far too giddy and overcome with a wave of other emotions in that moment. Then her head tilted down as if she was guarding her neck from him. Alas she had a following trick up her sleeve as her teeth sought to land a few gentle bites to the fur guarding his chest, returning what he had given to her.

Her laugh slayed him; he wanted to hear it any time life buried him in worries or duty. He longed to push his face back into the fur of her neck and draw in her scent, but she had position her head so that he couldn't get to it. And before he could plan out his next move, he felt her teeth on the fur of his chest. He laughed again, this time softer as her bites made his heart race and his skin heat. Then he reached down again and offered gentle nips to whatever he could reach of her cheeks and ears, hoping to extract another laugh from her so he could work on committing the sound to memory.

It was a quieter laugh that slipped out this time. His "attacks" upon more vulnerable places could not be ignored — as much as she might have wished to ignore them, if only to be more successful in her own. As her head tilted back (signifying she truly was weak when put up against him) her lips parted as if she was about to speak. Yet the words were lost somewhere between her brain's thinking and her heart's feelings. Heat grew in her cheeks as she felt embarrassed that she was not able to compose herself. Not that that was truly the worst thing ever in this case.

He was successful: she released another laugh, the softness of it not diminishing his infatuation with the sound. When she released him and tilted her head back, a playful smile curved his lips, and he lowered his muzzle, intent on burying it in her neck. But she looked like she was going to say something, so he paused and met her gaze. She didn't say anything, though, and he raised a questioning eyebrow. What? he asked softly into the space between their noses. Had he done something wrong? Her body was soft and pliant beneath his, and her face held no distress but still, he worried.

"What?"

A small smile tugged at her features before she dared to answer him. I don't know. She admitted sheepishly. Whatever thought she had had been truly lost to the void of emotion. All she could think about was him. Bronze eyed, strong framed, a safe haven. Her heart hammered in her chest and for a moment she wondered if it was him or the running they had just done through the woods. Then her tongue felt heavy in her mouth for a moment before finally her feelings and thoughts connected. Speak now her mind chanted. Now or never. You look handsome from here. She barely managed to get her voice above a whisper, confidence faltering despite her honest words.

His smile returned when she spoke, and he was going to tease her a little about her answer that was really more of a non-answer. But then her next words made him pause. He wasn't sure what to say at first, rendered completely speechless by her compliment. After a few stunned seconds, he nuzzled her cheek in thanks, lifting his head after to meet her gaze again. And you're beautiful always, he finally offered in return. It might sound a little cheesy, but he meant it. The way she moved, laughed, smiled—it was all beautiful; he was very quickly becoming enraptured by her, and he didn't even care.

Heat bloomed in her face at his following compliment. Even if she had started it, she had not expect him to follow up with it. She merely stared up at him as if she was enchanted by him — and she so very much was. Maybe it was confidence or adrenaline but a question was worming its way through her mind. Curiosity breaking her down until she finally caved. Have you ever been with someone? The moment she asked her ears pulled back, an apologetic look painting her face. In her mind it hadn't sounded so awful to ask but suddenly she felt as though she'd cross some line she couldn't come back from. Oh, I-I mean...that's not my business. I just... The more she talked the more she felt like everything was crumbling around her. It seemed as though she had a knack for taking good moments and breaking them down.

It was true he was a little surprised by the question, but he didn't mind that she asked, so his brows drew together in concern when her expression turned apologetic and her ears fell in what seemed like guilt. And then she was rambling nervously; he couldn't bear it. He reached down and nuzzled her, hoping to quiet her nerves. It's okay; I don't mind that you asked, he soothed. You can ask me whatever you want. It wasn't a promise he would give to most, yet he had no problem offering it to her. To stay true to his word, he promptly answered: No, I haven't. He wasn't the type for emotionless flings, although he once considered it just to avoid opening up to someone, but nothing had ever come of the idea because that just wasn't him. And his life hadn't left much room for a relationship, too busy training, and then grieving, and then running. And when he did finally take control of his life, he was too busy being lost...Since she had brought it up, he was curious now, as well, and followed his admission with his own question. Have you?

She was loathe to admit it but this time his words did not soothe the nerves that danced all frazzled in her mind. It was none of her business what he had done! Why did he have to be so sweet and accepting? It wasn't a bad thing but she almost sought some sort of reprimanding for her prodding. But she was met with what seemed like an honest answer to her invasive question.

Then the question was returned. Awkwardly she rolled her head on the ground, aiming to look anywhere but him. Oh, uh, no. She admitted despite her mind telling her to shush already. It felt like it was only fair to answer him considering she had been the one to bring it up. She so desperately wished that Razikale would open up the earth and take her away from the mess she had created.
