Private

Solaris was a rare breed of woman.

She wore a smile like lingerie
- and a loaded gun.

One might have called her b e a u t i f u l had they seen the way she aimlessly weaved beneath the shadows of soaring evergreens, her features serpentine in mid-autumn moonlight. And though direction was not of importance, she found herself drawn northbound, eventually coming to rest beside a body of water that looked as if death had seeped into it's core.

Bones littered the shoreline as vultures decorated the sky in a dance of sinister choreography, a sight the urchin queen committed to memory as she plucked a whelp's skull from the crimson stained sand. What a pity it was - had she discovered them a day sooner, she might have stripped flesh from their worn bones too.

Dacio was not a wolf who looked for beauty in others, yet he found its definition the moment he laid eyes on Solaris.

He followed her with his pale gaze for a time, intrigued, as she picked her way along the lake's edge. Soft moonlight drew his attention to the highlighted arch of her neck, her narrow shoulders, the delicate curves of her fine hips. Salmon pink tongue traced his lips briefly as his stare lingered there a moment longer, an unfamiliar stirring of his loins enough to have him shift his weight.

Dacio stepped forward then on careful paws, charcoal ears pricked forward curiously as his eyes sought the wolfess' features. She was the loveliest thing he'd ever seen: sleek, sharp and healthy despite the toughness of life in their wilds. But was she strong? A mate was something he had considered in fleeting moments since he and his sister rooted themselves in Roangeda, though no she-wolves had sparked such interest until now.

A chuff to announce his harmless approach, followed by the upward sway of his dark tail. Dacio had no idea how she would react, though fiercely hoped that she would interpret his challenge as a friendly one. Unskilled in the way of courtship, the young Klikalida sought only to test her skills to better judge her suitability. Should she impress him in a fight, he would certainly seek to have her for himself should she allow such proximity.

Ashen ears flickered at the airy breath of his approach while she turned to unabashedly rove over his well sculpted form, mismatched gaze set aflame at the sight of him. And as if a fire had sparked within her vision - she set the world ablaze.

With her interest now suddenly, wholehearted set on him, Solaris let the weathered skull fall to the earth with a t h u d  as her tail rose to mirror his own in silent, playful banter. And as he stood there in the distance, the viper turned to allow him a sight at the best of her before coiling around once more, eyes inviting him closer should he dare take the plunge.

He dared.

Oh, how he dared.

His stride lengthened the moment she responded to his challenge with an arch of her own tail, drawing him nearer. Nostrils flared to breathe deep the scent of her, a divine aroma that lured him closer like a moth to flame.

She was a delightful thing, and it was with a low rumbling in his chest that Dacio made to veer around her in a loose ring to better look upon her moon-kissed figure. Although this encounter with a she-wolf was like nothing he'd ever experienced, the young Klikalida had grown up with two sisters - he maintained a distance for now, fully aware of how the strike of some females could be comparable to that of a snake.

Dacio rounded to the wolfess' flank and, reaching out tentatively, sought to "boop" her thigh with his nose to test how close she would allow him.

She had to commend him - he was braver than most, or stupider, depending on how you looked at it.

Still, he had taken the plunge. How could she not reward that?

And so it was with an approving flick of her tail that she stood there shameless, a purr echoing in the depths of her chest as he ensnared her in a thousand thoughts. Her eyes remained watchful, gleaming in all their flawed, mismatched glory as he rounded her - testing his boundaries, pushing his luck.

It was only at his t o u c h did leathery lips peel back to flash pearly fangs, and yet despite the warning, she made no move to push him away, far too curious to see what he'd do next.

A curl of her lips and a flash of pearly fangs, yet her paws remained rooted to the spot. It was exactly the type of response Dacio had been hoping for, and his heart skipped a giddy little beat to accompany the satisfied swish of his dark tail.

Curiosity heightened and, feeling particularly bold in his small success, Dacio flicked his tongue fleetingly between incisors that were suddenly eager to deliver a cheeky nip on the she-wolf's flank. He refrained, however - despite temptation to test her limits, despite a strengthening desire to gather her fine hips between his forelimbs then and there, his primary wish was to respect her.

If she were to be his someday, she deserved nothing less.

Dacio, rumbling his approval of her in a low growl, instead took a brave stride forward. He made to complete his circling of the tawny wolfess, let her see the battle scars that marred his hide, before sweeping before her in a bow that could mean only one thing: an invitation for a friendly spar.
