early afternoon finds the woman by the stream, crouched low over a gently sloping bank as she searches the gentle current for flashes of shadow. it's a skill she'd more or less neglected since recently, and she's keen on bettering herself now that the stream functions as a year-round food source. slowly, she stretches out a stiff back limb, gaze narrowing at the ache.
a still damp muzzle hints at past attempts, most of which had been failures. this gentle branch of the stream seems more hopeful a place, and so she's willing to bear the discomfort a little while longer.

It was early that morning that Kaori was awoken by a dull ache in her stomach, insistent. For much of the day she was able to ignore it, napping when her mind would allow it to try and rid herself of the discomfort. It was from one of such naps that she was torn by a twisting deep within her abdomen, a rolling sensation that, ultimately, resulted in her previous meal being forced from her. Heaving, her body remained unsatisfied until its contents were all strewn before her, a mess of partially digested food.
After recollecting herself, the dragoness did what she could to clean up the mess, burying it beneath the lingering snow. Shortly thereafter she abandoned the scene in favour of a visit to the stream, seeking a drink to rid her mouth of that awful taste. Yet, upon her arrival, she noticed she was not alone on the bank—another was there, a wolf she recognised as the one to welcome those from the lair. Despite her nausea, Kaori approached whilst letting out a soft chuff, greeting the other female with a polite nod of her head.

she is not long in solitude; the approach of another has her rise, peering back over her shoulder to set eyes on the pretty dark woman she'd seen only in passing. she'd meant to seek her out, should have, truly, and yet the past month had passed more quickly than seemed possible. "hello -- Kaori, right?" she asks, the word carefully enunciated on her tongue, though a glance tells the woman to correct her if she's erred.

With the greeting returned, Kaori settled on her haunches nearby, relaxed. “Yes, you are correct,” she assured the other woman with a nod. “Am I interrupting you?” She could not tell if company was wanted or not, and so thought she might as well ask. At least, if it was unwanted, she would have a reason to excuse herself without appearing rude; the lingering, sour taste in her mouth reminded her why she was there, then, but she kept still. She could endure it for now.
