@Bazi - (if you have the time love)
here goes nothing! Prepare for awkward XD this might be poorly timed, I don't even know, but I was excited so decided to start it! You can set it whenever, but if you don't have a preference, I'll default it to a couple days after the meeting

Danica had had enough of waiting, enough of holding it in, and enough of being afraid of the reaction she would receive for it. It was time... rather, far past time, and she needed to sort this out. It was affecting her sleep, affecting her appetite, and making her want nothing more than to run from the Creek and never look back. It was this last fact that spurred her on the most. This was her home, at least for the moment, and she intended to keep it that way if she could. Though in a bit that might be beyond her control.

She did not call to the target of her conflict. Instead, she began to walk, her steps leading her along the familiar creekside, past the den with the pups and beyond. If she met with her, great. If not, well... it would only give her more time to figure out how the hell she was going to get this out. Though did it really matter? She would do what she always did; tell the truth and tell it straight. The rest would follow.

She had been down this road before. The first time had been her first ejection from a pack after her birth pack's disbandment and the reasoning behind her entire outlook now. She had been set upon by her packmates, near ripped apart before being chased out by them. Her parents had not deigned to come with, though neither had they participated. All because she fell for the Alpha's beloved daughter. She still had the scar from his jaws, though her thick pelt covered most of them. Even so, she wasn't likely to forget.

She wasn't sure if she expected a similar reaction here... she had made friends, but some were not exactly rational when faced with things like this. She knew very well Bazi's feelings about Jace and Ferdie, a situation that was much similar to this very one. Perhaps a wiser wolf would keep silent, but Danica refused to make a home where she wasn't welcome, quirks and all.

Sadly for Danica, because this is an RPG and Bazi has been explicitly tagged in this thread, a run-in with the object of her secret affections would be occurring that day.

Since claiming the Alpha position, Bazi had scarcely left the Creek - and it wasn't as difficult to give up exploring as she had thought. There were plenty of territories on the eastern side of the Sunspire range if she ever felt like a change of pace, and plenty more to do within the territory itself.

She was digging a hole when Danica came into view, meandering slowly along the water. A grassy mound buckled the ground a few meters from the bank, and it was Bazi's intention to turn this into a shallow den - in case she wanted a view over the water when it rained. Her fur was spattered with dark muck when she eventually noticed her pack-mate, and she was panting with the effort of breaking hard, rocky ground.

"You look better," she commented breathlessly, stepping back from the measly little dent in the earth. Danica's limp wasn't half as bad as it had been. "I'm not the biggest fan of letting Paar touch whatever she likes.." She meant Scimitar, but didn't specify. "..but she does do a good job." The poorly timed jest was followed by a coy wink.

Looks like it was going to happen today after all. As Danica approached the familiar white shape churning up earth on the bank, she considered one last time copping out. Her rank had fallen steadily of late and she was no longer even in the middle tier of wolves within the Creek. She was not ambitious so normally would not mind, but at the moment it made her feel particularly expendable. Her role as counselor may count for something, but how much against Bazi's possible (probable) anger?

Not much, way she saw it. But still she came forward. She did manage a smile as Bazi greeted her, however. Even covered in mud she was gorgeous, much as Danica wished it wasn't so. Not for the first time she cursed her inopportune feelings, the ones that always seemed to pick the worst possible candidate.

"Thank you." She looked at the hole that was being excavated, then back to Bazi. "Hey, if you aren't busy, you think we could talk real quick? I have something I need you to hear." Hopefully her current project wasn't so important that she couldn't spare a moment.

"Hey, if you aren't busy, you think we could talk real quick? I have something I need you to hear."

That sounded ominous. Concern buried a hook between Bazi's eyes and pulled gently up, creating a soft, inverted 'V'. What was this about? Some complaint about the pack - or was it more personal? .. had Danica found someone? The golden warrior had been distant of late, and Bazi - an accomplished weaver of tall tales - had dreamed up a scenario where Danica's loyalty to the Creek was compromised by a dark and handsome stranger. But she liked Danica, and the stories never became suspicions - until now.

"Alright," she consented, nodding, "Hang on." If she was about to be on the receiving end of bad news, Bazi wanted to be clean. She trotted briskly to the Creek, stepped into the shallows and gave her legs and chest a rinse. It took no more than fifteen seconds, and after a quick shake she was back on land and facing Danica again, shrewd blue eyes locked on Danica's. "Let's hear it."

Here goes.... also I do give you permission to have Bazi kick her out if that is what her character calls for ^^ totally understand. whether it's for a little while and she cools down/reconsiders or for good, she can always go running off to the Sveijarns lol.

Obviously something about Danica's manner or words tipped the Alphaess off, for there was obvious consternation on her expression when she agreed. Danica waited patiently while she cleaned herself off, taking a deep breath to steady herself. When Bazi returned, she looked at her, keeping her eyes on her features to gauge her reaction. She did not, however, meet her eyes, for that was a challenge that she did not want to make. For once in her life, Danica wasn't in any way, shape, or form looking for a fight today. Instead she was dreading one.

"I like you Bazi, quite a bit. And not in a friendly way, but more. In fact, I'd like nothing more than to take your beautiful self and show you that a man can't even compare when it comes to making a woman happy." She had never been one to beat around the bush, and this was no exception. Better to get it done quick and honestly. "I in no way expect a return of these emotions and therefore would never act on them unless sanctioned. I know you and Scimitar... that it would never happen. But I thought you should know. I have lived with lying about who I am and what... who... I am attracted to, and I promised myself that I would never do it again."

"If you... if you wish me to go, I will, without defiance." She braced herself, having no clue what was coming but knowing that it probably would not be favorable for her. Perhaps she should have been less brash, but it was her way. And now that it was done, she felt a massive amount of relief amidst the trepidation of what her words had wrought.

And boom goes the dynamite.

Bazi stared, utterly floored by the confession. Danica didn't start with a tentative 'I like you' - no, she hit the Alpha with an entire arsenal of feelings, dreams, and desires, disarming the poor girl with the bluntness of her delivery. It took several achingly long seconds for her to come to grips with what had just been said, never mind reacting to it.

"I.. what?" Bazi giggled dimly and squeezed her eyes shut against the feeling of intoxication, giving her head a quick shake before re-focusing on Danica. A dreamy haze floated in front of her eyes - true shock, limiting her capacity for organized thought. "Two women can't make babies, can they?" As if this was the most important point to bring up at this time.

Really!? That was the response? After the buildup, the nerves... That!? It was so unexpected that Danica couldn't help it. A laugh came bubbling up, only to be bitten back as soon as it breached her lips. This still wasn't the time, and the question seemed to be asked more out of shock than curiosity, for the answer was rather obvious. No, the true fallout might not have come yet.

"No, and though I shouldn't think that the main part of the problem most have with my... Taste, it is a part of it." That had been her mothers first reaction.... It isn't natural to just throw away the idea of a family like that. Is this because you don't want pups?. As though she would work so hard just for an excuse to not reproduce.

"I have heard tell of surrogates, women who will lie together and then lie with a man once in an attempt to have pups to raise. I suppose it makes sense in theory." She doubted she was making her case any better, but Bazi had thrown her off. That was one of the last things she had expected to hear come out of the white femme's mouth and she was off her stride, thoughts struggling to get back in line.

As a result of this, Bazi's human counterpart is going to be the woman who plays Piper. She's blonde and small and fierce..it works. >:D I want to make more of this plot...

Danica was serious. She filled Bazi's head with surrogates and threesomes and plans, leaving the Alpha fumbling for any kind of reaction that wasn't a second "What?" She gave her head another brisk shake and turned her face away, focusing on the long, calmly swaying grass that covered Swiftcurrent territory in sparse patches.

When she turned back to face her pack-mate, the dust had settled, and Bazi's eyes were clear and unblinking.

"You're serious," she said, keeping a tight rein on her voice. It threatened to fly into a screech with each syllable she squeezed into the world. There it was. Danica wanted to take Scimitar's place, to be joint mother of the pups that the little Alpha would eventually produce. Or would they both have pups at the same time, by the same... the same sperm dispenser? Disgusting. Thoughts of Ferdie von Pelt rose from the dust. That dirty, pan-sexual philanderer - fictitious traits that Bazi had assigned to her favourite scapegoat to help her deal with Jace's absence. Had he afflicted Danica with his disease?

Bazi couldn't help herself. "Did Ferdie von Pelt do this to you?" she asked tightly, hairs rising like a spine of snow-capped mountains along her back.

omg, even the overreactions fit XD love it! I am game for taking this wherever you want it to go!

Another 'what' came from Bazi and Danica could see that she still wasn't comprehending fully. Then it clicked, and when Bazi turned away, then back to Danica, her expression was clear. Now she would learn what her words would bring.

"As a heart attack," she replied, her own even voice a contrast to Bazi's tight tone. By rights she figured she should be freaking out a bit more at the prospect of leaving, but seeing as last time she came out she got the shit kicked out of her, this one wasn't going so badly.

"It's not a disease," she responded, amused despite herself. Why did wolves think that to be true?! It made no sense. Though really, it would make her life so much simpler if she could just infect those around her with it. Maybe then they would understand. "It's a preference, one that I can't control any more than a wolf's preference for meat." She shook her head. "And considering the only times I've met Ferdie we've been at each other's throats, quite literally, I don't see where he would have found the time." She, unlike Bazi, had never known the rival Alpha as anything but an enemy.

Yeah, her previous answer definitely hadn't helped the situation. But currently, Danica was actually feeling loads better. The truth was out, she was no longer keeping anything in, and now she could confront the problem head on.

XD Woo! I feel inspired.

"It's a preference."

Bazi's ears drooped with each word, until she had none at all - only two padded triangles against her head, like the base of an unfinished hat. Danica dismissed the opportunity to blame Ferdie - he was not the cause, and she refused to blame him. She refused to blame anyone, which surprised and annoyed Bazi, who was desperate to sweep the whole thing under the carpet where it belonged.

What was she to do now? If Danica had fallen for Kaskara, or Paarthurnax.. then she could have intervened as an outsider, or at least turned a blind eye until such a time as she felt ready to deal with the problem. But the affections that Danica harboured were for Bazi herself. It made her uncomfortable to think back on the physical affection she had showed her pack-mate - snuggling up to her for comfort, or offering wet kisses when Paarthurnax did her duties as a healer. All of that felt wrong now that she knew how it had been received, and it made her shudder inwardly.

On the other hand, the thought of losing Danica - the wolf, not the sexuality - turned her throat into a desert.

"What do you want from me?" she grumbled. Now that she had gotten it off her chest, would Danica allow her to move on as if nothing had ever happened, and wash her paws of this temporary insanity?

What do you want from me? Danica gave a wry smile. "I thought I was pretty blatant about that earlier. Ideally, I'd love to court you, but somehow I'm not thinking that's likely to be happening." She sighed, her tone getting more serious. "I'm sure I'll get past this specific attraction, but this is who I am. I will eventually want to take a mate, if one will have me, and I need to know that whatever pack I am in will accept that. I need to know that you can handle it." Currently the prospects weren't optimistic for that. She'd think that any leader would jump at the chance to have a pair in their pack that would never result in pups... but surprisingly, that was rarely the case.

What she felt for Bazi wasn't anywhere near love, at least not yet, and she knew it probably wouldn't get there. She wasn't about to give her heart to someone who wouldn't give it back... in fact, she wasn't sure she would ever be ready to really give her heart to someone. But she could not stay here if the option wasn't there. Funny, that. Here she was worrying about Bazi kicking her out and it might end up being she who instigated the leaving. Not without provocation, though.

She hated to think that this would ruin their friendship. She truly liked Bazi as a wolf also and respected her enough to not want her to think badly of her. The fact that she seemed so... disgusted... was upsetting Danica more than she would ever let on. But that, too, she would get over. She had gotten past her own issues with herself long ago and nothing could make her lose her own self-respect, not even this.

'If one will have me'.. that makes me so sad. I just want to pick Danica up and snuggle her and tell her she'll have a thousand girlfriends one day! I am shipping this pairing so hard and Bazi is a twat. :( ... BUT THIS IS NOT THE END. >_>

"I'd love to court you."

Bazi flinched as though something had stung her.

"I'm sure I'll get past this specific attraction, but this is who I am. I will eventually want to take a mate, if one will have me, and I need to know that whatever pack I am in will accept that. I need to know that you can handle it."

Silence followed. The expression on Bazi's faced was stuck somewhere between fury and gut-wrenching pain. What would happen now? They couldn't go back to the way it was before, and the more Bazi thought about it, the more serious the implications became. She was a tactile wolf. To touch was a natural urge, and now she would have to check herself - constantly. The idea that she might give Danica the wrong idea.. she held back a grimace and more or less managed to put the lid on a shudder. Two girls - it wasn't natural! What would the pack say? What would happen when she fell for Paarthurnax? It was an inevitability - she was a gorgeous girl, and so sweet. Kaskara might be less receptive.. who did that leave? Magpie? Or some strange wilderness slut? The more she thought about it, the less it seemed like Danica staying was in the pack's best interest.

Bazi refocused her attention on Danica and drew a deep, shuddering breath."When you escort Tuwawi and Njal.." she swallowed, hard. "Please stay there."

god, is it bad that I love torturing her? Ahhh I ship it tooooo but I also ship Scim/Bazi so whatever happens is gonna be GREAT. I just got a thing for couples that clash XD

Can I just say that I am enjoying the hell out of this thread though?! XD

There it was. Finally the reaction Danica had been dreading.... she could practically feel the anger and hurt coming off of the Alpha. Her stomach dropped but she remained as she was, face carefully neutral. It was clear this was not what Bazi had wanted to hear. Well, it was Danica's life experience that one rarely got what they wanted when it came to others. You just kinda had to roll with what they gave you.

Too bad rolling with it wasn't really Bazi's style, Danica was coming to learn. The silence was palpable, filled with everything that wasn't being said. Danica's walls were already slamming up, her mind switching over to a sort of defensive fatalism. She had known what was coming since before she had called this little meeting.

Yet when Bazi's words confirmed it, she felt her heart break. It wasn't her spurning Danica as a romantic partner that did it. She had enough logic to know that she couldn't control Bazi's preferences any more than Bazi could control her own. It was the thought of losing yet another home, another family that didn't want her because of who she couldn't choose to be.

Controlling her reaction was difficult, but she managed to regain her composure. Her voice was cold, she knew, but it was better than breaking down. "If that is what you choose, then I will do so." She paused, then softened a bit. "I wish you luck here, Bazi, I really do." To say there were no hard feelings right now would be a lie, but she didn't wish the Alpha any ill will.

She, unlike some, had a bit of understanding.

AN ACTUAL, PHYSICAL CHILL..went down my spine.

No sooner had she birthed the words than she wished to cram them back in, but it was too late for that - she had made her decision, and the lack of brain-mouth filter meant that it was made real before she had a chance to ruminate. It was both a blessing and a curse.

Danica reacted with rather dignity to her response than Bazi could hope to possess in her life.

"If that is what you choose, then I will do so... I wish you luck here, Bazi, I really do."

The delivery was chilling, but warmed towards the end. Bazi was beyond words, barely able to hold back a monsoon's worth of tear - hurt, indignant, angry tears. She killed the sob viciously with another sharp intake of breath, blinking to clear the film of salty water that made stung her eyes and blurred her vision. Beautiful, wonderful Danica - and her fucking penchant for ladies. It wasn't fair! With a strangled screech of frustration, Bazi whipped around and began to march in the direction of Tuwawi's den. The Sveijarn family would need to get a move on.
