Firefly Glen A calm within the storm

Kane couldn't sleep. This place was new and unknown, and often he was looking over his shoulder before he settled. Kane couldn't count how many days he had been walking east from the Cascade Range, but now he was here. When Kane smelled other packs, he avoided them. He couldn't stop moving until he reached a place he felt safe, or at the very least could rest a while. His mind and his heart hurt, and really all he wanted was something to drink. 

The lake he could smell was quite some distance away still, but he found the river that ran toward it. Just south of the Heartwoods, Kane stopped at the river shore and sipped the babbling brook, eying the way the snow glistened in the moonlight. The shadows that danced across the smooth, white surface was mesmerizing. This was easily the time of day he appreciated most, where life was in between sleeping and waking, where you could experience both the night and the day at the same time. Just off to the east was the very dim glow of the sun, while in the west the moon dipped down to the horizon. Probably another hour or so, the colors would start to turn brighter and warmer, indicating of a new day.

She needed to get away from her young for a while and away from everyone, after her talk with Vanity; Serem had been trying to hide away from everyone and shield herself from her emotions and thoughts. The she wolf was a bit sleep deprived but not because of her young but because of the nightmares that had came back.

She was so lost in her own mind that she didn't even notice the wolf nearby. All she could do was potentially sniff the ground hoping to find some food.

Deciding that Kane couldn't sit in the same place for much longer, Kane stood up and began to move around, walking in whatever direction he was facing with no real mind to where he was going. His head wouldn't let him sleep and he didn't want to keep having stupid thoughts in his head depriving him of sleep. Perhaps an herb or something would help to induce sleep.

As Kane walked, a shadowy figure moved nearby and it caught Kane off guard. Kane jumped a little as the woman sniffed the ground for some reason. What was she looking for? Kane said nothing as he stepped out of her way, trying to avoid her path. What an easy way for him to be targeted by not expecting her. It told Kane he was rusty in his alertness to his surroundings. Another failure on his part. It caused a grumble to leave his lips as he kept his eyes on her.

She finally noticed the male as he had jumped at her presence. The man didn't speak so she decided to. "Did I scare you?" She asked with a playful chuckle, she decided to play nice for now inless he proved he had ill intentions.
