All Welcome
set immediately after this thread.

why had his mother abandoned him? famine had been too young to remember anything about her. she meant nothing to him and was hardly ever thought about, unless mentioned by someone else. why did valium have to bring her up?

famine trudged through the territory, unhappy with their recent encounter. he searched every corner of his mind to find something he might have used to his defense, but there was nothing. valium was right; aside from serem, he didn't have any family left.

death was the only sibling he could regularly interact with, but he never seemed interested. pestilence was too quiet and conquest was missing, which left famine all alone. he didn't have a mother or a father, and though he had several friends, none of them cared the way that the other moms cared about their babies.

famine didn't belong here anymore. he was too little to imagine running away, but he knew that staying didn't make him feel good. he plopped down inside of his first den for some quiet time, away from everyone else.

Hope it's okay to throw him in here! It can be a cameo if Famine doesn't come out

The mule deer made his way in the forest, though it was quite different from others he had been through. This one had a more eerily fell. Must be all wolves that seemed to reside here. It stunk of them. He must have been mad to even attempt to go through their territory, but, then again, he never said he was sane in the first place.

He stopped a few feet from the entrance of the wolf den, noting a different smell. Tiny wolves. Little demons that would grow up to be big demons. He lowered his snout to the ground and sniffed heavily. At least one was in there. He should probably move on before it's parents came back and tried to eat him. He moved to do just that.

ecology lesson!

famine sniffled, then asked: what? there was someone outside, though they didn't smell like anyone he would have known. in fact, they didn't smell lupine at all. what the heck, he whispered to himself. goliath slowly emerged from the den, bright blue eyes searching in either direction for the stranger.

and sure enough, he found it. a large mule deer, much larger than him, stood almost within reach. where were all of the adults, and why weren't they chasing this thing away? famine had some experience with hunting smaller animals but never something of this size, and so did nothing but release the most intimidating bark he could muster.

While his presence didn't cause aggression from any adult wolves yet, it had not gone unnoticed by the pup inside the den. A yip caught his attention, and his head and antlers turned to face the tiny creature.

Curious, Denton lowered his head to sniff at the offended pup, knowing it itself was not dangerous. Fluffy little thing, he thought. I could pummel you to nothing but a hyde and some broken bones, he said matter-of-factly. Not that he was going to. While Denton did not favor wolves, he wasn't the kind of mule deer that would kill their offspring.

minor injuries, at your discretion :)

most of the statement went without being understood. famine didn't know what hyde was, and he didn't really understand the whole bone-in-wolf thing yet. still, he could tell by tone that whatever the threat meant, he couldn't let it slide. well.. well — he stumbled through his words, searching for a good comeback; he couldn't lose two arguments in one day! — i can bite you! famine didn't give the beast any time to react before bounding forward with needle-like teeth aimed at the skin above its hoof.

The mule deer didn't expect any kind of attack on the part of the tiny creature before him. Had he a brow, it would have raised as the pup appeared to fumble for words. His eyes darted away, getting bored of the interaction. He should probably make his tacks anyways, seeing as he figured it's parents would return soon. Right?

He was taken aback by the sudden words of attack from the pup, and he jerked his head back, assuming he would try to bite his face. Instead, the pup when for his leg, which Denton quickly pulled back. But, he was a bit too slow, and the pups teeth grabbed on to his skin, and blood began to trickle down his hoof. It was but a mere scratch to him, but he huffed in shortened patience at the sprily little wolf. But, he did not retaliate. Feisty little thing, aren't you? he said instead, almost admiring the fight he had.

Well, if it wanted a battle, who was Denton to deny him? He stepped back, and then lowered his antlers towards the pup, stepping forward in a mock attempt to get him. He didn't move quickly as he wanted to see how the pup would react. Eight points had a good chance of poking an eye out.

¡espera! famine hadn't expected the deer to retaliate, and was subsequently suprised to find the attack similar to those performed by adult wolves. had the deer meant to hurt him, he surely could have; instead, he stopped a negligible distance away, as though inviting the little pup to play.

gordito wanted to laugh, having already forgotten the earlier upset, but instead contained his excitement in one small smile. okay, i'm biting you. he looked up at the deer, as though waiting for permission, then approached again with teeth aimed for that same hoof.
