for @Caw!

she wound her way around the oddly raised hills, searching for clues that might tell her how they had formed. they were unsettling. too large and too ancient, she thought, to be caches forgotten by wolves — and too small to have been formed naturally, though they were a seamless feature of the plain.

curious, and emboldened by the sunlight, sadhbh began to dig at the base of one hill. slowly at first, pulling the grass away with blunt nails to see what lay beneath, then faster when only soil was revealed. working with a determination, the young she-wolf dug deeper and deeper...
working towards spiritualist (seer) and naturalist (astronomer, ecologist).

thank you for getting this up!! <3

it is not a good idea to wander too far from the faerie court now. not when there are so many things happening. many enemies, many things they are supposed to be preparing for, but caw is not used to this much. the north was never kind, but it did not have cougars and angry dogs with curled tails. it is more than he has been expecting!

the faerie queen had told him he could leave if he wanted to. and he is not leaving, he is just…exploring. looking for things. there is much more left in the willows to explore, of course! but it is too tense, and it leaves caw on edge. he is not sure what he is supposed to do, if anything at all! so it is best to leave. surely no wolves or cats will be chasing away the herbs that are left to find while he is gone.

he has been near the coasts before, searching for seashells and starfish, but this is a place he has not visited. it smells salty, so the sea must be close, but there is nothing much beyond the endless hills. caw might not know too much about…most things, to be honest! but these do not seem like they are supposed to be here. he snuffles around the edges of one, but there is not much to notice besides salt and dirt.

he is still curious, though! and there is not much else to see. so he wanders from mound to mound, sniffling around at the base of each as though it will be different from the last. this does not seem to be the case. but eventually, he starts hearing some strange scratching noises instead of just wind and seagulls; he rounds the next corner with ears forward and eyes wide, only to nearly trip over a small wolf half-obscured by the hole she is busily digging.

caw’s head falls to the side. oh. this is a good idea! he should have maybe thought of this earlier. but she has made much more progress than he has, so instead he just stops where he stands, tail waving back and forth. “hello!”
