All Welcome
The siren song had pulled him ever higher.
The forest he found himself in now was...Eerie...to say the least. The trees leaked what at first glance appeared to be blood, and Raven's throaty cackles echoed off the trees. It was odd, and even more unsettling than the woods the Nightwalkers had resided in.
The Nightwalkers. He was glad to be rid of them. Glad to be rid of the clinging darkness, the constant push for blood. Now here, he was far away, and hopefully would never have to set foot near one of them again.
Now, he had a new task. Kill the snake that put Awenfen in danger. He knew her scent, her demeanor. Her eyes. And with Awenfen confirming the real Alphaess was heavily pregnant, the difference would be even easier. He planned to skirt the mountains, circling to the other side. There....He would wait. And plan.

he'd found himself less happy than usual these days, a fact that was beginning to feel like chains weighing him down each time the sun would rise or set. he'd left his homeland not for freedom, but in the pursuit of happiness. he had discovered that happiness only to turn around and have it runaway, and now all that was left to decided was whether or not he'd give chase.

if you would have asked him to make a decision three weeks ago he would have given his answer in a heartbeat, however recent events complicated things, made the choice harder than it should be. he was to be a father, and that terrified him. he wanted kids, he just didn't want them now. to stay or to go? his thoughts tormented him as he made his way through the familiar forest, mind clouded to the point that he didn't even notice the unexpected company lurking near.

Standing beside the trunk of an old weathered birch tree, the raven-cloaked female nibbled at a piece of loose bark. Snapping if off, her brief work was rewarded with the oozing of clear, sticky tree sap. She licked at it ravenously, savouring every drop.
The sap would provide her with a multitude of vitamins and minerals, enough to stave of any deficiencies she may have acquired after weeks of scavanging.
When the tree wound no longer oozed the viscous liquid she craved, she circled around the slim silver trunk in search of another piece of curling bark to tear off. Resourceful in her habits, the dark female would make the most of the supply whilst it was on offer.
However, when her eyes caught a glimpse of another dark figure, she stopped what she was doing to watch him, hidden behind the trunk of the bleeding birch tree.

It doesn't take long to realise he isn't alone. In woods like these he's doubtful they're pleasant company...but it's not as if he isn't used to that. He continues through the forest, smirking as he's nearly able to slip behind the oblivious male covered in pack scent. That quickly lost his interest as he noticed the sound of something (someone?) Breaking off chunks of bark. His eyes scanned the trees, hoping perhaps it was a deer.
"Come out, come out, come out....who or whatever you are...." He called lightly.

a shift in the wind revealed he wasn't alone. he wasn't in the mood to strike up conversation but from what he could tell, there were two of them nearby and both were loners. it was the sole possibility of recruiting one or both of them that kept him from wandering any further.

instead he stopped in his tracks and turned back around to face the direction in which the voice had come from. it wasn't exactly the most welcoming tune, but who knows, maybe someone interesting and worth his time would show themselves and yet surprise him.

The dark male paused as a voice called out hauntingly behind him. The raven-cloaked woman kept kept her paws steadfast to their spot, though she could not resist the temptation to curl her neck around and peer out from behind the silver birch tree.
Spotting the second wolf, his coat brown and his face horribly marred, she realised that his single amber eye was scanning around in her vague direction. Not put off by his menacing tone, and knowing that she had not gone unnoticed, the female revealed herself, stepping out from behind the tree confidently.
The dark shewolf moved to stand before the disfigured male, her tail waiving dominantly above her back and her fur bristling in a show of strength to the pair. Autumn orange eyes met his half-blind stare. She flashed him a mischevious grin.
"You called?"

She makes herself visible, and for a moment he's confused.
"Well hello there. Name's Memory." He was jjust passing through, and was watching the shewolf carefully. "You look like you could use a meal. Last I checked wolves don't eat trees."

he couldn't see them, not at first anyway. a few steps to the left and a tilt of his head revealed the pair of them as they stood there, one with a grin and the other with countless scars. both appeared interesting enough to hold his attention for the next minute or two, and so he opted to stay rather than continue on his way.

he didn't bother closing the distance between himself and the strangers though, instead choosing to remain grounded and watchful as they tossed their questions back and forth.

The raven-cloaked woman turned her nose up at the horribly scarred wolf, taking an instant disliking towards his mocking tone. She lifted her tail and allowed it to wave proudly behind her as she remained standing in front of him, licking the last few drops of sticky tree sap from her lips.
"The last I checked, wolves have two eyes, but here we are." She responded to him, shrugging her shoulders before narrowing her orange eyes on him in challenge. "And let's not pretend that you'd be any good at providing food for anyone, you look like you've taken one too many beatings from your prey. You do know you're meant to maim them right, not the other way around?" She sniggered.
She turned her focus on the darker male observing them from further away. "Who's your friend?" She asked, flashing her teeth slightly as she lifted her muzzle to point out the other male who had yet to introduce himself.

Her response is fiery, snappy...and judgemental.
Again, his face is all anyone sees. For a moment he wants to show her just how good a hunter he can be.
but he rolls his good eye, a dry, sarcastic laugh falling from him.
"Oh very cute. Don't judge a wolf by his face, sweetheart." He retorted. "Besides, it wasn't prey that did this anyways. I used to fight...alot." He had gotten better at gaguing distance and compensating for his loss of depth perception. Her query about the the other male makes him shake his head.
"No idea. But if we introduce ourselves...and get out of this creepy fucking forest, we might be able to scare up some prey. What do you say?"

mumbles were about all he could make out of their conversation. the specifics about who or what they were talking about were unknown, though he assumed the last bit had been about him given both had taken their turn to stop and stare.

he flashed a toothy grin at the pair of them before turning to look upwards at the sound of a cry overhead. the ravens had gotten louder since he'd last been here, and that wasn't exactly a positive thing. not wishing to remain idle for much longer, astaroth glanced back around just long enough to cast them a silent invitation to follow, before he spun on his heels and made way for the forest's edge.
