Mira already knew she was atop her siblings in dominance; Altair was loud but beatable, Caelum a quieter mystery, and @Mintaka did not seem to care about power at all. That was good for Mira, who did not want competition. But she wanted to remind her siblings of their place over and over. So in the darkness of the den, while @Hydra watched from the sidelines, Mira barreled her way towards Mintaka for a spar.

After his short foray into the wilds beyond the mountain, he was back to sticking close to home today. It inevitably pulled the dark yearling into the depths of the mountain, near to where his younger siblings were kept. In the beginning, it had been easy to not have too much interest in their finer details, but now that they were growing into distinct entities in his mind, with visages to match, curiosity had come to follow in full.

He approached the den without anything to gift them, or his mother or aunts, but was a watchful set of eyes on the scene. Antares did not know what was appropriate for the little wolves at this age, anyway, though in his loitering he hoped he might catch one of their eyes when he darkened the doorway carefully--leaning forward onto his front paws for some deeper sniffs.

Mira nearly skidded to a halt when the fur along her spine rose, a telling sign that she was being watched. The child turned towards the entrance, distracted from her sister now. There was another dark wolf, like mother, blue-eyed, and yet he smelled not of the milk that she had drank for some time. Curiously she toddled forward towards him, blue eyes gazing up unreadably at the stranger.

His nose quivered with all the scents, though they seemed to muddy together. The pups, his mother, aunts, milk, and all else. He was not so far removed from it all to be surprised, but trying to determine where one new thing ended and another began was not yet easy.

But, the shadows moved, and one took form towards him. He took a step back, nostrils flaring as one of the dark pups appeared with eyes very much on him--a sister. So small! He marveled for but an instant with a canted head, peering down at her. She didn't give him long to consider, however, not since hesitation did not seem to be weighing her down any, even on her short puppy legs.

Up close, and knowing that his mother was nearby, he was careful but ever watchful with his blue eyes bright upon her. Another step back from him hoped to lure her further into the openness, and with it, he lowered his front legs down to his elbows, then his head, before he nipped at the air gently to see if she could be enticed into play--or whatever it was puppies this small liked to do besides eat and sleep, if she may take the cues somehow.

And lure her he would, for Mira followed, stepping outside the entrance. The man lowered himself closer to her height, pressed to the ground and nipping in the air. Mira was unsure whether to approach this target. Her siblings were easily bested, but Antares was quite large, and for once in her life, she hesitated. But considering the fact he was not at full height, perhaps he meant no harm... and so Mira tumbled towards him now, jaws opened wide as she meant to grab one of his paws, or a toe, in her mouth if she could.

He was successful, now with a bit more distance between her and their mother, plus the rest of the densite included--but not enough that he could raise anyone's concerns, he hoped. At least if more of the little things decided to show, he could see them coming. But, Antares was happy to focus on her and study how she might receive him in turn. He didn't know enough about puppies, let alone how they might take his offer for play, or whatever it might be that he was planning.

Once a little hillock of hesitation seemed behind her, she came for his feet next. He let the first contact be made, her mouth finding purchase on his paw then, which he didn't much care for but since she was pretty low threat, he'd let it slide for now. So thanks to this, he decided to try for a little bump of his nose back at her--him attempting to keep her between his paw and his muzzle, possibly sandwiching her there if his plan worked. While she got to keep the grip on him, he'd aim a teensy nibble for her opposite side.. doing his best to be careful, and only using his incisors just barely, mostly just going for pressure, perhaps.

Aha! Mira detested the feeling of tongues on her face, mother, sister, brother, whoever- but having her own saliva on someone else for once was a welcomed change. She squeezed down her infantile fangs into the paw, until she felt her opposite end being sandwiched, and then- a nibble. It was not severe, but so far she was used to a fairly cushioned life, her only fighting partners being other children. So Mira yelped in surprise, and then came a little growl that rumbled low in her throat. It was not worth it to hang onto this paw any longer. She released her grip, freeing herself from the sandwhich on one end, and curving her bean body back around to rear up with jaws wide at her enemy, his snout.

There was a sting to her bite, though nothing severe, nothing he wasn't ready to try to handle. Still, it wasn't exactly something he wanted more of; he could tolerate it for a second or two, since he was slowly finding that he liked appreciating her ferocity for a body so small.

Which, it seemed his nip ticked her right off, judging by the yelp (that he hoped wouldn't summon parental reinforcements) that turned into what was probably the smallest growl he could recall--and that he was more keen to work with. But with his paw freed, she came for his snout instead. He rumbled back with an unflattering, open-mouth, toothy expression, feigning some uncertainty as to what to do against such an onslaught (only half true--what could he get away with without hurting her?) as he lazily tried to move out of reach, or at least be an unpleasant surface to bite at. Normally, this would be where he might answer with a jaw-spar attempt, but that was for teeth about the same size as his, not these little needles she wielded.

Meanwhile, he had taken the chance the lower his hind end, and halfway roll onto his side--though didn't give in quite, just began the motions to get there, soon--unless she didn't let him.

Wide mouth and more teeth. He shifted away from her reach, causing her initial lunge to land near to, but not contacting, her brother's muzzle. Mira huffed out some small breath, and moved to face him again, finding something about his positioning had shifted slightly. And there she thought him silly for not returning any real attack- and rushed again, oblivious to his movement. Determined to try at his muzzle again- for she was not a creature who gave up easily, and especially not when a grudge existed.

Though he set out to make it an inconvenience at least, and her first attempts fell a little short, she still kept coming at him. It obviously wasn't enough to turn her away yet, not that he was pulling out all the stops or anything, but she returned for a new pounce as soon as the last fell short. Some good Ostrega determination, he reasoned, though the rest of her was still small. Or stubbornness, though to some, it likely went hand in hand. He hoped to see her continue to grow fierce, and strong--for their family.

But, under her onslaught, she came for his muzzle and on that contact, he let the rest of himself fall slack into the sideways lay he had been easing into, pairing with a low growl of his own. Momentary defeat, seemingly, as he sprawled and left his jaws gaped.. all open to more attack from the fiery little darkness.

Though.. it did free up his paws now, and he raised one up, trying to swat at her with it then.

my apologies for the wait, we can wrap this whenever : )

When she made contact again, he suddenly fell into a lay- not so sudden, really, but she was quite oblivious to his gentle ease into the position, much too focused on the battle. Still, he laid for a moment, causing Mira a short confusion until her chest swelled with victory. Perhaps she had slain the beast! Or was it best to check, and be sure?

Just as she meant to make a final attack, instead a surprise came from out of sight- swatting at her then, causing her to whirl eagerly. The paw! Mira snarled a little high-pitched noise, taking the defensive now- opening her jaws wide, and hoping that her instincts would be fast enough to catch him wherever he intended to strike. Of course, she was a child, and would likely fall short or miss at most attempts- but the best learning came from failure, after all.

no prob! i don't mind waiting ever at all :D and i think i can steer it towards a wrap..
Antares wondered what went through her head, and not at all for the first time here. Was there some satisfaction to be had when he fell? Did she connect any of it, or see right through him? What was her next plan, even? He did not remember his days this early, or if he could formulate much of cognizant worth; his earliest memories were romping with his siblings, tussling among each other, and exercising their increasing senses to the mountain at their disposal. Would any of this stick with her?

At his looming paw, she would not tolerate that, either. She spun on him and was not going to let him get her off guard with that one, it seemed. Even as he looked at her defenses that didn't give his paw many places to go without the risk of those needling teeth, he tried to decide what to make of it from there.

With her attention on the paw, it took some of the novelty out of it, truthfully--and more so when he saw a dark figure of an aunt looming nearby, surely come to collect a misplaced inkblot that he had lured away. Seeing that much, and knowing better than to test any of that fury, Antares rolled upright, withdrawing his paw as he made the motion. As he gathered himself, he reached one last playful click of his teeth her way (not close enough to chance a nose-nip, but.. almost), just to keep her fury on him as he began to lead her back towards the den, baiting her with himself.

Before she knew it, he was shifting upright, paw pulled away from her hungry jaws. His fangs clicked unexpectedly near her nose, and she sneezed, blinking her eyes again up at him. He began to move away, and Mira happily followed, content to imagine she was stalking some prey.
