All Welcome
Sugar woke with a gasp, a dull roar in her ears as she struggled to sit upright beneath the deluge of rainwater. There was a sheer drop just a foot away and if she leaned forward a little bit, she could see the roiling waves crashing against the black rocks below. It was the sort of view that inspired awe and fear in equal measure. Sugar's throat clicked as she slowly pushed backward away from the ledge and finally took to her feet.

Where was she and what was she doing here? Beneath the onslaught of cold rain, she walked back through her last memory. She had been walking away from the moors after meeting Erzulie and "Elwood" Valravn there. She had headed east instead of south toward home, though the details were fuzzy from there. Sugar bit her lip.

She'd blacked out before, of course, always during a moment of incredible stress. Still ignoring the lashing rain, she patted herself down and discovered no injuries. Her head felt fine too. Perhaps she'd merely been exhausted from traveling? She had been quite fresh on her feet when departing Frosthawks but, as a medic, she couldn't ignore the possibility, even if it felt a little incredulous.

With another start, Sugar realized the rainy day was giving way to nightfall. Now she was wondering how much time she'd lost. If the hunger that abruptly gnawed at her belly was any indication, she hadn't eaten in... days.

there was something about those tall sequoias, that moment of déjà vu that sadhbh couldn't shake. each parcel of land she crossed had their own energies, had their own beauty, their own mysteries to discover — but none had resonated like those particular trees on that particular strand of coast. as the rains beat down upon the wilds, sadhbh made her way slowly back to the coast. the familiarity brought her peace of mind. she found the inland territories to be suffocating.

she planned to spend the night, settled once more in a dry patch between a sequoia's roots, but the cracks of thunder rolling over the ocean in the distance wouldn't allow her rest. and a lightning storm over crashing waves — the imagery in her mind could do the real thing no justice. the rain had arrived, but the storm was still well off in the distance.

sadhbh slipped away to the cliffside, eager to watch the storm approach the coastline despite the thrash of cold rain. as she approached, blinking rain from her eyes, she was surprised to see another already here. but where sadhbh was intentional in her movements, the other seemed to be a bit dazed and confused. the dark she-wolf paused, watching warily.

She exhaled shakily, one ear twisting sideways at the distant snarl of thunder over the open ocean. It wasn't until a bright burst of lightning stitched across the darkening sky that she looked in that direction. She swallowed, still wondering how long she'd been out here. She was soaked and starving. She needed to find someplace dry, something to eat, and then head home.

When she turned, she found herself face to face with a stranger just a handful of meters away. She wouldn't normally have reacted so skittishly, yet her current state of mind was as stormy as the weather. Sugar gasped, one foot hitched in midair as if she was about to bolt, before she gathered her wits and blinked the water out of her eyelashes.

"H-hello!" She hated that it came out as a stammer. Inching a little closer, she motioned toward the nearby woods and raised her voice a little to say, "We should find some shelter, don't you think?"
