It was hard to tell time anymore. Everything was on a sliding scale of gray from morning to night, with the worst days having nothing change. Safe to say that his sleep cycle was ruined, and he was particularly grumpy about it as he finally pulled himself out of his den, only to be quickly drenched by the light but fast-moving rain. He huffed, then snorted droplets from his nose, finally pulling himself out of his den entirely to start the new day.

If it was a new day, he couldn't tell.

Ugh, all this rain was a serious downer. It wasn't as warm as summer was supposed to be, it drenched her fluffy fur and plastered it to her body, it made everything muddy. All of the gray was beginning to drag her down, mentally, and Lenny didn't know how to feel about it. She was normally quite good at pushing bad thoughts to the side, at being cheerful and positive, but the consistent rain was not helping.

It was early, but she was used to being up early. Besides, it was hard to sleep with all this downpour, anyway. Morning patrols (otherwise known as walks around the border) were common for the guardian, and today was no different.

Or, well, it was, because her paws had carried her to Yao's den.

Oops.

"Habari za asubuhi!" she called, spotting the brown wolf leaving the den. Her pronunciation was getting better, she thought, and she knew simple greetings like that. "You look like you slept about as well as I did," the woman sympathized, offering him a small smile.

He couldn't help but grin at Lenny, despite his mental and physical grubbiness. Her efforts to learn his language warmed his heart and she was getting better each time. Eh, ni sawa he replied. He stretched out his body, feeling cramped and tight. La. Sikulala vizuri. So much rain, eh?

As she'd expected, he had not slept well. That was completely understandable. "The rain sucks," she admitted. Her fur had plastered to her body, making her look smaller, and when it didn't, her fur was so frizzy and weird. It was just uncomfortable.

But that didn't mean she could be a downer about it.

"Ahem," she cleared her throat, a smile crossing her maw as she mock-bowed in front of Yao. "Good sir, would you accompany a young lady on a walk through the woods on this... not-so-fine rainy day?" she questioned, her accent akin to a country one, playful and lilting.

Concluding!

He grunted in assertion. Some rain was good. Too much? Bad. He was glad that he was not the only one suffering through the torrent of rain.

He smiled — really he was unable not to. The flourish was ridiculous, and once again she used an accent that made him chortle despite himself. Of course, siti. he said with a similar mock formality. He bowed his head to her, then began to walk with her, side by side through the rain.
