All Welcome
The old woman had followed the great cedar forest into maple, sandwiched between a plateau and summit. She was tired, very tired. Already she had crossed over two large mountain chains and was unsure her body could take much more travel. She had put the practicing medics of their family to work, this much was certain. The woman however was determined, unwilling to give up so quickly when it came to finding her beloved High Elk. If anything, she could die at ease once she knew she was within his good graces again.

Taking a deep breath, the brown wolf settled down in the forest, a smile on her lips. If anything, these lands were far more beautiful then the Haunted Wood they had left behind. And there, along the horizon, atop the summit looming in the backdrop, she sees him. An elk, their elk she was nearly so certain. She lifted again, a gasp, a waving wildly of her ploom.

My God! Quite literally so. He was here, he was here!! Her heart skipped a beat and she pants, barking out excitedly for all her family and she howls out to her family. He lives with us!

It was just about time for a good pack hunt again- perhaps nearly time for her children to participate, if to fulfill no other role than to simply help chase from a distance. They would need more experience hunting if they were to become proficient young adults in the spring. Knowing that larger prey inhabited the forests to the South, she made her way in that direction hoping to find a herd of deer- but ended up coming across something much better- the trail of an elk.

It would be their rutting season soon she figured, and their screeches would fill the forest. Preoccupied by the rut, the bulls might be distracted enough for her to lead a hunt for a cow elk, but she would want to do some research first and see how many elk were in the herds nearby. They could move in herds of hundreds- but that would make things more difficult for wolves to pick one and separate it from the herd. It also meant that there would be many more eyes watching out for predators.

But the one she tailed was only one- but it wasn't alone. There was another wolf tracking it, and Niamh saw fit to tail after them as well, picking up on the scent of the female wolf and following it as it appeared she was tracking the elk herself. She scented no others nearby, though she was distracted by the potential of having found evidence that elk might pass through this way for their Autumn feeding grounds. In the distance, the mountains reached up, including the summit that the Firebirds had considered a safe harbour during the deluge. And silhouetted against the light was the bull elk, grazing calmly. And in the foreground- watching it with awe- was the female wolf she'd been tracking.

She had the colour of burnt bark to her pelt, but silver fur aged her, trailing around her muzzle and down her chest. Elderly, Niamh thought- less of a threat. Still- given the news she'd received from Bronco about the dangerous wolves to the North, she wasn't going to trust this female simply because her age made her less of a threat. For all she knew, the oaken female simply had premature greying. And perhaps she wasn't alone. But she was treading fairly close to Firebirds hunting grounds, and had clearly spotted something Niamh considered to be claimed, already.

"They'll rut soon," She said, as she approached, considering her statement to be neutral ovile branch, something to be extended without risk to gauge the true nature of the woman who gazed with such fascination at the elk in the distance.

As the group settled in the strath, she spent days alone, finding clues and any signs. Occasionally taking fire from others while defending her claim, and seeing the glares from family. At the same time, trying to recruit others, and keeping the flames at a bay. Célnes knew her brother @Cenric was trying to calm them down the most with a smooth smile, their families trademark. Though even he, would have trouble defending against her actions.

There was signs that others claimed what she was doing was unfaithful, and that the High Elk would disapprove. Though no signs came directly for herself, and she did not believe them so. Diverge the thought somewhere else, but of course, @Calhoun and @Rohesia, would always look at her with scorn.

There was Odessa as well, once an old woman who cared for her so, looked at her like a heathen. The elken woman found her trail leading outside of their current domain, and followed so. She would expect to find her dead on the path, but instead alive, and with a woman of golden colors. It reminded her of @Taikon, however he contained a mixture of white, while she was a pure golden sunset. The closest that their blessed color could be, yet off, like she was simply throne to the side and ignored by their Deity.

The Déorwine's fire-lit eyes followed to where the heads turned, and froze in place.

He was here.

Célnes could not differ if it was the High Elk himself, and assumed so but an Apostle. They encountered some at the bracken woods, but the land seemed unblessed and cold, and none to be found. Though this land seemed rich in love, and his apostles were here.. Was it possible?

She approached the duo, a side-eye toward the elder as a smile approached, before asking the woman, "hello miss," the elk-girl greeted and turned toward her, "would you know where they normally cater to?"

She is transfixed by the creature, as large and mighty as he. She believes it to be her God, whether taken to the earthly form or a sign of him by his apostle- no matter, it was a sign indeed! The elk lifts his skull, looking to the wolves which watch him now, gathered below him. He bellows, the crisp air stirring a mist from his breath, and he then descends down the other side of the rock face.

Celnes comes, following likely her scent then her sudden call. She too can see the High Elk and that despite her ways, he had not given up on all his followers yet. Maybe they would yet survive, not all judged based on the lack of one woman's faith.

Yes, they will. The older woman speaks, a smile over her graying mug towards the other woman now as she tears her eyes finally away from the Summit and onto her. A pale girl, blonde, though not a 'proper' color completely (as she was quite fair), she was not as cursed as those who not walked amongst her kind. Those of grayscale hue, white, black...

Either way, there was little which would break the old woman's spirits now and the other woman spoke knowledge of the elk, which fueled Odessa's mood. She would not disregard her, nor Celnes. A proof of their valor, their strength and resilience. He who is the mightiest is fitting to guide and protect his followers. The High Elk. Her God, her beloved.

She was contented with the woman's reply, as Niamh took much more kindly to agreement than she did to argument though some might note Niamh did love to argue. On this topic, however, and haveing lived and hunted in the area for over a year now, Niamh felt she knew best. Fortunately, her oaken companion seemed to know at least a bit about cervinae, which she would have expected from someone Odessa's age regardless.

She might have begun a conversation with the pleasant female had it not been for the approach of another- though Niamh immediately felt that given the faint interest the older female showed in the panther-like one who arrived shortly thereafter, that she knew each other. Had they been strangers, she might've turned her gaze upon the newcomer to size her up, but they both seemed more keen to get information from Niamh. They both clearly revered the elk- the older one so much so that she went on to praise the creature, noting the strength and grace of the bull elk in particular. The bull in question either seemed to tire of its audience, or felt some pressure of a threat from them, and wandered beyond the ridge.

"They cater to my pack," She drawled, a calm but sincere warning to the two who had the hunger of desire in their eyes. As a food-aggressive creature, Niamh hardly shared meals quietly even with her own packmates- and therefore had even less tolerance for these new strangers who seemed to express an interest in prey that the Firebirds would normally claim, at least in this area. She flicked her tail and lifted her muzzle, gesturing toward the ridge where the elk had grazed. "These forests are our perhiperal hunting grounds, from here, east to the river and where it flows north past our borders." She said, addressing the vast area where they normally hunter larger prey. "That elk must be a stray. The majority of the elk I've seen, gathering in herds numbering in the hundreds- live across the river to the East and beyond that ridge of mountains," She said.

He too had been scouring the land nearby in hopes of a sign. It's all they could do now until his family was pointed in the right direction. A series of muffled barks followed by a howl was quick to gain the hunter's attention though. The call came from Odessa somewhere nearby and based on the tone she had found something.

Changing his course, Calhoun followed the fading sound, a spark of excitement alit within him at the promise that their search had come to an end. By the time he arrived, Cal was able to make out a large figure sauntering away into the growth and out of sight. For a moment, he believed it to be a trick of his mind, though based on Célnes' question and the stranger's response, it was safe to say that the fleeing elk was real.

At last, the sign they had been searching for! Though their visitor seemed keen on putting a damper on their good news. Calhoun scoffed at the idea that any apostle of the High Elk might "cater" to a pack. His followers are blessings, not servants. For a moment his reddened gaze traveled the body of the stranger before his eyes settle back on her own with a raised brow, Especially not to one of your kind.

She understood the golden womans meaning, but carried with a pleasant smile that warped to a more narrowed one, "we do not hunt the Apostles. They belong to no one." Though she stayed polite despite the undermeaning this stranger was giving. Information however, that there was a pack nearby the area. Perhaps it would've been a more friendlier term to find a more precise location, though sadly her cousin appeared.

Inwardly she sighed at him; not understanding the issue of getting along to acquire what is needed. However the Déorwine remained with her facade of perfection, a humble lady of noble origin. Though her then cousin spited the stranger for her coat, "we are followers of the High Elk and following where he has blessed," calmed but rush, she was trying to explain Calhouns rather.. Rude entrance.

"Mind your tone." Chad's voice rumbled from behind as he drew over the rise. His golden eyes were pinned sharply on Calhoun. Leveling his stare with him, the flashy Déorwine male was hardly the picture of his usual boastful self. Largely ignoring the others, he continued. "Need I remind you the attack." An earthy brown ear flicked back to indicate Célnes. "We do not need to rush into making unnecessary enemies." He cautioned. It was bad enough some pack wolf over the mountains had drew their leader’s blood. If they were to find the High Elk here and remake their home, stepping on their neighbor’s toes wouldn't do them any favors.

Still, despite his defense, Chad was just as prejudice as the rest of them. Only he was clever in that in this instance, he kept his judgement hidden. Turning to regard the fleeting image of the Apostle, wrought with regal antlers, pride and hope swelled in his chest. "We have searched for a long time. Praying, hoping for a sign from our divine God. And now we are one step closer to becoming whole again." He elaborated with a proud tip of his chin, sharing a fond look with Odessa, blessed to have found him first.

The boy can't be certain what brought him out here. Maybe it was the calling of the mountains, the sweet voice of the grass singing it's tune... or maybe his mother. Perhaps the scent of elk that lingered in the air, enticing him with awe and wonder had been to blame.

Wherever he was—it was far from home. Too far for comfort and too far for him to turn back.

And thus Primrose trudged on until he came across the scent of his mother and others. With a bounding run he raced to meet her with wide brown eyes and a wagging tail. "Mom, mom!" He shouted in excitement before slowing down and skidding into her leg with an 'oof.'

Looking about, the pale orange lad took in the sight of the strangers around them. All of them washed in brown and dark, too different and too big. They didn't look like him nor his mom, nor his siblings, nor his pack. Who were these strangers? Were they wolves too? They looked like it but... different.

Scrambling to hide behind the backside of Niahm, Primrose stuck a sliver of his face out into view to stare with a frightened gaze.

Chanel didn't know what led Primrose out here, but she was determined to become a good sitter one step at a time. When she found the boy's scent trailing out, she didn't want another Alyx situation, and thus the pretty girl followed. Eventually Niamh's scent twisted along that path too, and she was relieved, but finished the journey anyway- better to meet with her packmayes than leave them alone, right?

But she found the boy and his mother, she realized there was a group of all similar looking wolves here. Every one of them brown! Chanel had no context of the situation, and was not a mercenary by any means, but she didn't like the way these strangers had her packmaye outnumbered. The diva trotted forward, falling behind Niamh and offering Primrose a warm glance before her attention returned to the brown wolves. Hi! Who are you all? What's going on here? Needless to say, her bubbly spirit was a high contrast to Niamh.

They catered to her pack... The tone of her voice and words, was a warning to the two obvious rogues who may have been near her lands. If they had been near pack territory, Odessa surely had not scented it. North of here they were, so it had seemed.

The arrival of Calhoun came then, to knock the golden blonde woman down a peg when it cane to talk of the elk. His gaze judgemental and Celnes, a sympathizer for the accursed, moved in to smooth the mood.  Then Chad, who Odessa waved her tail to as the man looked to her. She had not failed them set despite her age, who had indeed been blessed to take sight of their God's sign.

But it was not here ended the group of them, as more arrived, this time seemingly of the blonde woman's lot. First a pup, couldnt be no more then six months and along with him,  a yearling. She was coated in a brown agouti pattern and Odessa smiles for the young babe. The wooden woman's nose twitches, taking in their equally familiar scent but still did not remember scenting any borders before. She of course didnt know there was a large stretch of swampy bog to cross before the pack could make it here to this glade. She wondered then, if a fight was to happen here today. Odessa had grown slower in her age, less force behind her bite. Still, she doubted the they would want to pitch a fight over what was concluded as just 'a stray' amongst the herds that would otherwise be within her realm of hunting terrain.

Odessa's marigold gaze turned to the summit once more, her lips pursed. Had she of known that a large, thick forest named 'King Elk Forest' was beyond, she would have definitely questioned the blonde woman exactly where the elk 'catered to'. Well then it looks like it's a good thing he isnt going east, nor north of here, but south over that ridge. Which is where they would be going. We follow our God. She could only pray that should the scouts go out southwest they would be greeted with promise of a future to come.

I just want to squish all of you for joining- I LOVE big, exciting threads like this!! What a way to introduce yourselves to the locals! :D <3

EDIT: Just for clarity's sake (and I personally do not care if we have a loose posting order or not so it's up to you guys <3) the order seems to be Odessa, Niamh, Célnes/Calhoun (not sure? but prolly best to sandwich Calhoun between Célnes and Chad XD), Chad, Primrose, Chanel.
Also, I am still 100% cool should any others want to join in. THIS IS FUN!

At first, Niamh would be somewhat inclined to agree with the man who joined them next- another earthy-toned fellow with a stoic expression, but with eyes that somehow managed to look straight through her with the same disdain one sported when looking through a window and seeing that it was raining outside. True, finding a herd of elk would be a blessing, so she gave him a curt nod, though her expression spoke volumes. Why did he even bother joining them? Didn't he know it was rude for three wolves- clearly all associated with one another if not related- to surround another wolf out on their own? Perhaps these were the deviants Bronco had mentioned...Funny, though- he hadn't mentioned that they'd all wear such similar pelts. Two of them even shared the same austere, warm hue in their gaze.

But when he mentioned she had a kind, and that it was one he obviously frowned upon, she lifted her head and tail indignantly, pulling back her lips to reveal her fangs. Her kind? What exactly did he mean by that? They were both wolves- and from his shape and stature, he was a grey wolf, just like her. Her eyes wandered to the others to see if perhaps they bore trademarks of other subspecies of wolves but all she noticed was that all three of them were earth-tones. Brown, brown, and brown. And then a fourth arrived- and the trend continued. More handsome, to Niamh, than the first male- and this one sported a plush, beige ruff and a more even tone to his eyes. He even went so far as to shush the first, though there was a noble condescention in his voice that Niamh didn't appreciate.

More talk of Gods, and revering the elk which- she was told- they didn't eat. They worshipped the elk. The elderly one chimed in yet again with praise that made the fur along Niamh's spine prickle. Something was wrong here- something supernatural and wrong. Wolves were predators- and these ones were going against nature. Now, looking at them again...Brown, brown, brown, brown. Even the handsomest among them, with his silken tones, couldn't set Niamh's conscience at ease. The spoke over one another with the ease of wolves who had lived together for quite some time. Of Family.

She dreaded the sound of the soft, flutelike voice as soon as she heard it and felt her beautiful, doe-eyed son collide softly with one of her legs. This was no place for a child- not when surrounded by four potential enemies. Without taking her now wary and suspicious gaze from the family of wolves around her, she nuzzled Primrose as he tucked himself near her haunches. In any other situation she would have boasted him- shown him off for all of his beauty, but from these religious fanatics, she wanted to keep him safe. Chanel- having obviously been looking out for the boy, was soon to follow and Niamh couldn't have thanked her enough for trailing behind the boy like a proper puppysitter. She was relieved- now they had Primrose sandwiched between the two of them, safe from the tawny group who, with their sincere, religious chatter, made Niamh bristle.

She told herself to stay calm, for Primrose's sake. She side-stepped, allowing him a brief glimpse of the wolves she wa about to address, and turned her head to speakl to him in a sweet, singsong voice that was hushed, but not so quiet the others wouldn't also hear. "Take a good look, sweetie." She said, casting a side-eye to the community of tawny wolves.  She raised her voice as she turned back to address the crowd. "This is what inbred, religious fanatics look like." She said, and dared them to say otherwise with a beat of silence.

"You'll find no God here." She said, lifting her head to address the four Déorwine wolves in a deep, booming voice.  "You've found the Firebirds; and you'll find we're not inclined to be merciful." She hissed, hoping to shut the elder female up, and cease her talk about remaining in their area. These were valued hunting grounds, especially in the winter time when the elk and deer would venture down from the mountains when forced into the open by storms making it too hard for them to remain in the security of the higher altitudes. And while these strangers confessed that they did not eat the elk, worshipping them would draw them no closer to the winter hunting grounds that the Firebirds had claimed. "These are our hunting grounds. These forests West of the river are ours, and whether or not you hunt the elk, I am sure you hunt other things," She informed them. The fur along her hackles bristled. That was about as civil as she could possibly be. She sent a glare to the sullen male with the mahogany in his eyes. "The one blessing you'll get is the peaceful goodbye I'll give you- so long as you leave these lands, now, and vow never to return to them." She said. The most reasonable wolves in the group was the doe-like female, with the hue of autumn leaves in her eyes, and the handsome male with the beige ruff. She trusted that together, they might herd their fanatic granny and the sour, sardonic uncle-character out of her hunting lands without questioning her again.

"You are being quite rude to guests. I apologize for my cousins, and other family, but we did nothing to you of danger." Célnes narrowed her eyes at the golden woman while caring a smile. The woman threw threats around, however only a pup stood underneath her and another brown-like companion to follow. She only gave a nod to the other, a friendly smile to flash, and one toward the pink-ish pup. An odd-coloring, but still unblessed. She felt more inclined knowing of the browner-wolf, and was tempted to flow with words to recruit her so.. But they were already in a fickle.

The woman insulted them so- calling them incested. The one trait of Deorwine is one can gain the name, and the bloodline was never important. So she said- though the royal bloodline was the only one that mattered. The namesake was their key to life, and any could join as long as they are blessed, "You are quite close-minded to think we are an occult of incest-wolves when you know nothing of who we are." The elken woman pointed it at as so, toward the rudeness that was given.

"You do not own all land- I smell you not traced all over. Faint perhaps, but we are not claiming this land. We follow, where our Deity goes, and not of your word." Simple speech, but she said so. Célnes  made to say they would eventually leave, but not on her word. She held no authority over their wolves, only she and Cenric does.

"I am Célnes, King of Kingslend. Who are you?"

His family's sushings breezed over Calhoun. He cared not for what they deemed "important" for their foundation, the High Elk would provide everything they needed so long as they showed unwavering faith. Before he had the chance to even respond a child appeared, one as scorned as the mother he claimed and hid beneath. Calhoun could care less for the boy, though he was kind enough to restrain himself for the child's sake. High Elk's or not, he seemed young and stupid with only time as a cure. He was followed by another, one more kind on the eyes through his God's light.

The first woman claimed that the apostles live to the East, though that wouldn't make sense. They had just traveled all over the east and had no signs of their God, not to mention if they were that far, this apostle would be a part of another herd. It seemed Odessa also caught on to the strange intel as their sign disappeared in the opposite direction. This woman was trying to throw them off course.

The hunter's muzzle wrinkled in protest as his own fangs were shown the light. A growl rumbled in his throat as his tongue flicked out and slid easily along his teeth, yet he did not dare move a muscle. They still outnumbered these...Firebirds. He did not fear them, no, he remained still for at last he and Célnes saw eye to eye. A foolish mother was not worth the expense of energy that could be used to track the apostle. He would let words put her in her place.

Slowly Calhoun let the snarl fall from his muzzle as he held his head up with the strength of his God. The Deorwine were proud people and he would back his King if it showed the strength of his family. Kingslend would not be fooled and the mother was a fool to think she had the right to even challenge them.

Chad had been willing to try and maintain an air of civility between the Deorwine's and the golden female. But all of that went out the window as soon as she opened her mouth again. Insulting them, labeling them inbreds. Dismissing the existence of their God and forcing her claim on these grounds belonging to her pack.

Eyes narrowing to fearsome golden slits, his ears pivoted back to resemble devils' horns. A brief flash of teeth, a squaring of his shoulders and puffing of his chest made him look bigger than he already was. Chad was all about posturing, when it came to squaring off or otherwise. He left the talking to Célnes, who handled the woman easily enough. He filed the name Firebirds away in his mind for later reference, in case this pack should become problematic for them in the future.

The boy nuzzles into the hind of his mother, his big paws wrapping around her leg in a vain attempt at a hug for some sort of affection and safety. Theres too many words thrown around, too many voices clammering above him and all Primrose can do is struggle to hang onto the adult conversation.

'God' 'Highelk' And then his mother's— 'Inbred religious fanatics' Prim furrows his brows at those words so foreign to him. He had never heard his mother say such mean things, but the way she whispers them with scorn tells him they're something he shouldn't ever repeat.

The deafening snarl that sounds in respond only further drills that thought in his head.

He stares with wide eyes and a trembling frame up at the brown wolf with a red gaze. Their teeth—large and sharp and imposing are something of a nightmare, a thing that will stick with the boy for years to come.

A whimper worms it's way through his throat.

Staring at the King, the peachy boy steps out from behind his mother with a tail between his legs and puffed up cheeks. "I'm Primrose!" he loudly proclaims at the giant. "And this is my mother, Niamh, and my friend Chan...el! Are you... um... going to hurt us?"

cameo unless attack <3

germanicus watched the proceedings with his usual impassive nature, weaving through the throng closer to the elk-wolfess' side. the golden woman was tall, rangy, the build of an archer. but the young ones with her would not be of use. a fool then, to challenge a group who might easily shred her body and leave it along the wayside.

because diplomacy did not concern him, he merely steeled himself beside the antlerwolf who led their clan. eyes trained ahead, not upon niamh, though close enough to interpret any sudden movement as attack. she would do well to leave now. célnes had spoken truly of her intentions here, and the idol had mocked them. germanicus worshipped no hooved thing; therefore he was prepared to mete out a warning in his leader's name and her name alone.

Though Chanel's questions were answered in some ways, in many ways she felt even more perplexed than before. Niamh's words were cold and biting- talk of inbred wolves had Chanel nearly clutching her pearls at the absolute impurity, and her wide chocolate gaze swept across the strangers as if to question whether her packmate's words were, God forbid, true. Why, of course they were true, she told herself! Chanel knew the Firebirds were a good family of people; if Niamh thought these people were an impure threat, surely they must be. She listened with ears canted ahead when Célnes spoke- and might've nearly reconsidered her opinions, until the stranger proved her insanity at the end of her speech. A woman who called herself a King! Chanel knew what she felt was wrong- and could not understand why a woman would call herself such a thing. The men beside the insane woman had bared their fangs, which truthfully intimidated the diva- but seeing Prim had the same fears, she knew she could not let her worry show on the outside. Célnes' question went unanswered. Usually Chanel valued common courtesy and good manners, but that was thrown out the window when these beasts of men bared their fangs to two women and a child. How terrible they were! Primrose ended up introducing the rosy woman for her, but she shifted past him- even if he wanted to push to the front, she would stand beside him. She was a babysitter. The role of that job wasn't exactly meat shield, but if a child was hurt on her watch... she'd be a failure. I wouldn't let these ruffians touch you, She whispered quietly to Primrose alone as she leaned slightly towards the boy, ducking over him though her warm gaze was trained rather nervously on the strangers. Ears were pinned to her head while long dark lashes beat defiantly at the male deerwolves, Look, you scoundrels have frightened the poor boy! You ought to be ashamed of yourselves! She hissed in the manner of a mother scolding a young bully.

It was quite easy to say that each of the Deorwine wolves were brown, as mostly they were. Though each shared their own different markings, shades, eyes. One might think it could be a litter and their mother. A family... And then the blonde woman would dip her head down to her child, whispering first and yet then directing her attention to them as she continued. In one moment they were asking direction of the elk, the next they were being insulted.

Quick the blonde pack-wolf went from a small warning to outright filthy. The words directed to her daughter causing sore muscles to tense in Odessa, jaw tightening and eyes narrowing as a rumble boiled up in the crone's throat. So quick she was to assume such sickening things just because they all held the same (divine) color? Not only this, but what deterred the woman further was how the pack wolf was so inclined to anger the group of strangers in front of her without any disregard of what the consequences could be. Was she so willing to put the lives of two children at risk just so she could be happy with mouthing off? The future of the pack in the bodies of the children should always first priority. Odessa, motherly to all of the Deorwine broad (as she was their wet nurse after all) found the act sinful.

She was Godless and so cursed to eternal damnation. It was a shame she would be tearing her family down with her, especially given the yearling showed potential for absolution given that she carried the High Elk's blessed colors. Odessa couldnt help but tisk and shake her crown. Such a pity.

Not shy to snarky remarks and rude gesture, Odessa countered as she too whispered to her broad, a snarl now placed to her graying mug as she mocked. Take a good look, my young. Bright yellow eyes to Niamh, This is what heathen swine looks like. And Celnes, in all her hopes tries to amend the situation. She calls the other rude however, as she was, and that these lands were not hers and thus the Deorwine would leave when they so chose to and when their King acknowledged them to do so. Odessa knew that them not quickly turning tale and leaving meant likely a retaliation would break when the blonde bitch didnt get what she wanted. Thus, Odessa aimed to protect herself and her young by displaying a readied posture for defense should Niamh in turn attack.

This was fun! Thanks for joining b'ys! Last post with Niamh, though, just because we're a wee bit out of date, and otherwise, she'll do something stupid that I haven't accounted for in her present threads XD

It would seem that amongst the group of strange but beautiful wolves, the woman who bore herself with some amount of dignity did have some sense of reason, and attempted to put out the budding flames Niamh's words had begun to stoke. But she would turn her disdain upon Niamh as well, criticizing her for being judgemental which was something Niamh was actually quite used to- so the comment rolled off her shoulders like water off a duck's back. She'd call things as she saw them- and she saw no reason not to think these wolves were also judgemental, and therefore hypocritical. They weren't much unlike Niamh, in terms of bearing fierce pride amongst them, and that pride could often colour judgement. She rolled her eyes and shrugged, deeming it unfit- and likely too complicated as she'd have to then suffer the rebuttal of all the other elk-wolves- if she even chose to reply.

With response to the pack's hunting claims, she huffed. "Well, if you haven't noticed, it's been raining for a month. No wonder you can't smell a thing." She informed the woman who introduced herself as the king. She demanded a name, so Niamh heaved a reluctant sigh- why was she even bothering?- and went to reply, though she would be beat to the matter by her sweet, beautiful son. She smiled at him gently, but stepped forward to lovingly nudge him closer to her flank. She wouldn't have tolerated speaking out of place from any but her children, so long as they were still young, innocent and pure as Primrose was. "Niamh Redhawk-Blackthorn, Regent of the Firebirds," She responded, with a tone intended to insinuate that if Celnes was any part royalty, then Niamh was too. "They won't hurt us, darling." She purred, looking up to meet the eyes of several who stared at the smal group of Firebirds with malintent. There was no way she could match them all- especially not when she would need not only to protect her own vulnerabilities, but Primrose as well. There was no way she and Chanel- her kind-hearted puppysitter- could fight off this many other wolves. And when cornered and bettered in strength, Niamh found it more comfortable to simply remove herself from the situation entirely, to avoid bringing calamity upon herself and her packmates. Her eyes caught sight of yet another, lurking not far away- and she knew, then, that it was time to leave before anything disastrous happened.

The aged female's hiss would draw Niamh's attention and would earn her a surly glare. No one. Absolutely no one called her son heathen swine. And her simmering honey gaze bore into the female as she revealed a flash of her teeth in silent warning. She'd remember the grizzled woman's face; and she sheathed her fangs. Now was not the time to invite violence.

"We'll depart; but be warned. These are Firebird hunting grounds, and what you call a deity," She said, flicking her tongue wickedly over her teeth. "We call delicious." She settled her gaze upon the woman who called herself a King again, her gaze even but skeptical. A bucnh of lunatics, she decided. She lowered her muzzle to nudge Primrose, and began to move using her body as a means to both shield him and herd him from the group- she cast a glance to Chanel, trusting that the maternal female would take Primrose's other side, and help her make sure he was well protected as they left the band of elk-worshippers behind.

Once more, the boy was confused between the discussion of the weird brown wolves and his old family. Tipping his head to the side, he watched them banter back and forth with wide eyes before being intersected by the limb of Channel. "Huh?" He breathed, peeking his head around, the boy continued to stare rudely at the bunch before looking back at his family.

There was a lot of words being said; Some increasing in volume. Some increasing in insults.

Primrose pulled his ears back at that fact. Mainly at the calling of 'Heathen swine.' The young Firebird did not know what swine meant, but he knew that Heathen was a dreaded term. Being called it did not favor him, and with a quivering lip and confused mind at why he would be called such a thing he clung to his mother.

"You're mean," he called out at the lot of them before being trudged along back home.

"I believed you approached our elder first, and as we have no land to claim, we are travelling in a group; not to bully a child, but to find a home." Célnes couldn't believe the sheer audacity these wolves were going in a conclusion. If they couldn't smell due to the rain, it was obvious they would cross over without knowing their claim, yet even so, she dared to snarl at them and insult them even more.

The King could feel her head twist, and her smile seemed to tense up. She didn't look at them directly, only continued with narrowed eyes a rather polite look. The others surrounded her so, a comfort to be with family arms despite the disagreements they would have.

Even more-so a kid appeared, and the other barked like a Principle to them. She paid no mind to that woman, "It seems we have gone on wrong terms, though I do believe we have been wronged. Looking for but a home to call, we have been scorned and insulted," the Deorwine said with a sigh, "perhaps our elders have been right to keep to ourselves." The last part was whispered to the family, specifically to Odessa. The departing Firebirds would not be able to hear so.

She ignored the kid as well, "Return to the temporary territory, make sure to tell others not to come to these grounds nor' associate to the Firebirds." Though little did she know her dearest brother would go forth and talk to them. She felt quite wronged by this golden woman, who accused them so harshly and then egostisly called out their God as 'lunch.' She had thought to be peaceful with neighbors, instead they approached a Deorwine Elder, and started to insult.

What a pitiful day, thought the elken woman as she told others to go.

For a while, the hunter remained silent as insults were thrown from both sides in jest. He might have not commented, but he could only roll his eyes at their potential new neighbors. They surely were one to welcome. It was clear they did not hold the same beliefs, they would never see as they did and therefore they were a waste of breath. Though, a laugh was raised from the man at the other's last attempt to provoke them.

You really are a fool to believe that you can kill his grace. The High Elk is more than this land and your precious food. It was only his apostles that roamed the Earth. They were not to be killed, but they were not he himself. Of course, the apostles could be killed, but the High Elk could not be. There is a reason you have been stripped. A shame really, but one clearly brought on by your own decisions. He had nothing left to offer and any more time would just be wasted. He had an elk to track after all so as the crowd began to disperse, he would stalk towards the growth where the apostle had fled.

The more they spoke of their god- an elk, apparently- the more Chanel believed these poor hooligans needed a proper education. Primrose called them mean, and the babysitter could only agree, murmuring down to him, They're just bullies. They just love being mean to poor pleasant people like us, Chanel huffed in a soft breath. What kind of evil people were so vicious in front of a child? The woman felt ashamed that Primrose had to witness such a thing, even more to experience and be a part of it. When Niamh directed them home, Chanel was happy to guard the pup's other side, giving him a gentle encouraging nudge in hopes that his usually-upbeat spirits would not be killed by those lunatics.

Daggers were sent into her direction by a piercing stare. All of which affected the woman little. She had faced off far worse in her time before and there was little fear left in the old woman, who had sense now welcomed even death itself with open arms.

To Celnes comment, however, her ears folded, expression softening for the young woman which it had not in some time now. It was true, they were often met with ridicule and disinterest. Of course, their 'colorism' would be one to put others off, but times, like this, they were simply looked down to by their beliefs. Odessa wasnt about to just stop believing in her culture and religion just to make the locals 'like them'.

Alas, Odessa turned to make way back to their gathering site. Despite all this, the little group of shunned would not ruin her day entirely. She had spotted a sign from the high elk and for that today was worth celebrating.
