All Welcome

Upon the beach is where he adored. Where the sun found its place among the waves and disappeared in a painted view below the crest. The distant howling of sealions announced their presence to the behemoth and yet, knowing the males, had no interest in risking his time among them other than listening to their chirping from a distance and feating on sea bird eggs, and other seashore morcels that a loner could enjoy.

A feeling of loneliness overcame the paladin. Life as a loner didn't seem to suit him very well as he kept dreaming of the day to belong somewhere... among others. Among ranks. To have a duty to accomplish and be more than just an empty vessel wandering the waves morning and night. Alas, a sigh escaped his maw, twisting in a ghostly smog around his ghastly maw, the man continued to wander the beach as a specter and nothing less.

The closeness of the shores was enjoyable to the man of Northern origins, the chill of the ocean spray refreshing and pleasing in a way he could not have imagined. The mountains and snow of their homelands had been nothing like the water and sand found here, the differences stark and obvious. Some wolves were adverse to such harsh disparities; Stjornuati was not one of them, laying stretched in the sand with his back legs extended behind him so that the cool sand warmed to his body heat beneath his stomach.

Truly, the Nord was at ease here, not just on the beach but in these lands. It was a development that he was suprised to discover within himself, though he held no doubts of the validity of such realizations. With his sister having joined them, the small handful of wolves that lived with them at the Watch was slowly becoming like family, though he knew there were yet no formal conversations to acknowledge this, not even between himself and Solpallur.

A sound, a flicker of his ear, a turn of his head. Liver colored eyes watched as another wolf approach, eyes tracing over scars for a moment before taking note of the scent that came with the wind. Male. Alone. Stjornuati did not make any motions to leave the vicinity with anothers presence joining him, instead tipping his head and chuffing at the other.

Absentmindedly, the man wandered the sandy beach. The soft sand between pink, cracked pads squished beneath his girth, the only sensation he was truly aware to other than the relaxing chill in the air that announced the oncoming presence of winter that would soon take its hold on the lands... soon enough frost should be the norm, the harsh summer heat would fade to a bitter freeze... Elijah wasn't certain what he preferred.

Snapping him out of his thoughts of nothingness - gold and chill eyes landed on the individual comfortably sprawled upon the beach. A grin spread across his blackened maw as he took in the sight. Tail lifting in a slight curl, the wave giving it motion was enough to try and indicate that he was more excited to see someone else than the feeling of dominating anyone on the beach. He was just too excited to think about his manners.

With his grin growing more mischievous, he wandered closer. Giving the male a side-eye with the golden orb before speaking, a feeling he felt almost alien as it had been far too long since he had spoken to anyone at all. Ah, how he missed it. Is it weird so say you look pretty sexy laying there? Hell, he didn't give a shit. This was like a blessing to see anyone for even just a bit, it was sexy to him.

Sexy. Sec-see? Sex-sea?

The word threw the foreign man for a moment as he tried to sort out what the word meant, the jumble of common tongue clunky and confusing. It was not a threat, he assumed, not with the way the male waved his tail or the way he pranced through the sand. And though it was the one word that stood out to him, the whole of what the male had spoken to him was lost, as if it was a lone ship out at sea.

What this sec see drengr speak of? He asked, reclining his head back to view the other. Tail brushed the sand lazily once, though stilled again as he awaited an answer.

Well, this fell flat, and it visually could be seen as the man's face dropped from the handsome, flirty grin, to a more confused and a little disappointed pout. Sex-eee He tried to over pronounce the words, exaggerating his lips as if it would help the man understand him in any way. Pondering how to explain himself - his eyes wandered to the sky as he thought it through... man this was really killing the mood. It was like trying to explain a joke, really.

It uhh... it means I think you're attractive? he questioned his own explanation. Way to sound confident. The second round of explanation came off a little more sure of himself, even straightening up a bit as his back arched with pride in himself. Like you're fuck-able. He winked happily.

Well, he had no clue how strange that came off as.

not really sorry...
The ginger stalk was held daintily between her teeth—unwilling to crush the flavourful medicine as she stalked after the direction she believed Stjor to have gone. She would have liked to have  revealed her find to @Solpallur, but it was likely she would have been met with either a blank stare and a grunt, or some jumbled words she did not fully understand and a pat on the head.

Stjor would likely have the answer to her questions.

When she finally found him—her nostrils flaring past the rather pungent scent from the hardy root, she found him sprawled across the earth—and the rather gasp-worthy words of a white man causing her eyes to widen in naive surprise and her treasure to fall from her gaping jaws. “Oh,” she half hummed, caught off guard.

And then… Oh. Sorry. I’m sorry!” Had she just interrupted... something?

Again, words that went over his head. There was something about the common tongue that displeased and even angered the man that lay stretched out so comfortably on the beach, though the anger that burned at the edges of the parchment was not directed at the scarred man but at the notion of such a difficult tongue. There was little he could do, save for learn the language and its nuances, though he was saved from his ignorance by the welcomed appearance of the little female.

Head turning to spy the copper tinged wolf, his tail swept the sand, pleased that she had such good timing. Ah, Engi, assist this one. What does drengr say?

Well, this was an utter failure; and here he was just trying to be friendly to some stranger on the beach. His compliments just completely going over the guy's head. At least, and it brought a smile to his blackened lips, someone else came by to hear his words and react somewhat appropriately. At least she knew what he was saying! With a friendly wave of his tail to greet the new face, he assumed they knew one another considering how casual the other male was toward the female.

My my you're a pretty face too! Hello dear, my name is Elijah - do you two know each other? Mind explaining to him I'm only trying to compliment him? Essentially he was hungry for some good interactions... He didn't get to have some good company for very long these days.

Delicate mouth partially agape, her mind reeled as she looked to the stranger who now pressed to her with his words. When Stjor spoke, the ridiculous direction of the conversation was understood more properly--so she hadn't just waltzed in to the makings of a rather heated moment.

Still, the emboldened warrior purred her name, requesting assistance with translation and she felt her cheeks instantly flare with the heat of her blush. I... Oh, she hummed, her eyes drawing back to the man who spoke before giving her tail a deft flick in consideration.

And so she pressed her innocence, testing the waters with something the pale brother had told her upon first meeting--something she had never fully grasped the understanding of. He likes you. She paused considering the moment with the tip of a shy muzzle. You're appearance pleases him.

And then the third wheel fell silent, uncertain if she should slowly back away and melt back into the brush.

HA! A sharp bark of laughter, the sweep of his tail quicker in his amusement at Engi's explanation. Stjornuati was not prideful of his appearance by any means, a beast of the North who had grown up windswept and unkempt, a feral creature who not been taught the importance of appearance. Sure, he understood attraction, especially in the throes of spring-fueled lust, but besides that the man did not usually give it such thought.

Drengr's appearance is also pleasing, He responded, missing the context of what little Engi was attempting to emphasize. Strong, battle-hard. A beast this one would feel honored to spar.

The guy laughed? At first, Elijah was a little confused. Concerned that maybe the guy took the compliment the wrong way. From the looks of his tail the guy was amused in a good way? Elijah's expression lightened into a gentle smile, proud that things looked like they were coming along finally! He shot a thankful look in the direction of the helpful woman who cleared the air a bit, his smile growing faintly with gratitude.

Then the guy complimented Elijah in return! Okay, now he knew things were going well! His tail fluttered faster, proud that he too was 'pleasing to this guy's eye' even if Elijah's original compliment was just to break the ice. Despite the little bump in the road causing some confusion and well... some awkwardness between them all, it all seemed to work out in the end! Really? He gasped! You'd spar with me? And it was an honour too!

Oh jeez, Elijah really felt his luck had turned now!

She flinched at the laughing bark that interrupted the growing silence--her eyes pinning upon Stjornuati with unhidden surprise. Her mouth felt dry--the thought that this was yet another language barrier clearly upon her mind, and yet...

... was there another meaning to the word 'spar' that she had simply never understood?

She swallowed, the white stranger practically beaming now with this delivered news.

And so the naive girl took a step back, blinking, looking away from the two as if she expected one to just mount the other right before her in some form of boisterous rut. Okay, well ... I'll leave you to it, she all but squeaked out, her silver form turning to dart back the way she had come and offer them privacy.

These Northerners continuously surprised her.
