@Orochi <3 //

Hide had been recovering from a fairly nasty cold for the past couple of weeks. The seasons changing really had his sinuses messed up, and the healer lady had been kind enough to let him sleep in her den. He'd kind of miss it, he thought.

Today, he felt well enough to get out of the den. Stretch his legs. He was still a little stuffy, but there was no fever, and his chest and throat didn't hurt anymore.

Naturally, his first instinct was to look for Orochi. He had to sniff a little harder than usual to catch his friend's scent, but he managed, padding after the trail down the beach.

SORRY ABT THE WAIT <33

This hasn’t been the lowest point in his life, but it certainly wasn’t the highest. Once again Orochi’s title was stripped away. It seemed as though he’d only had it for a second before it was taken. At least he wasn’t replaced by Minori this time (who had yet to return to the island. Her and his mother. Good riddance). That made him feel a little better, but not much. He still stomped around the shore daily, kicked everything that moved, and plotted ways to take back his rank.

When he wasn’t storming around, he’d return to his only friend. He’d yet to tell Hide what happened. It was too damn embarrassing, and he didn’t want to bother him while he was stuck in the healers den.

Once he was finished with his daily walk around the shore (he did less walking and more kicking and biting), Orochi headed inland. He was surprised to find his russet friend out and about.

Hide? he called, I thought you were sick. There was a twinge of irritation in his voice. No fault of the yearling before him. He just hadn’t completely cooled off.

Orochi found him before he found Orochi, which made sense, but he didn't sound... right. Hide paused, brows furrowing at the tone in his companion's voice, before he shook his head and offered him a smile. They hadn't been able to hang out much recently, because Hide had been so cooped up in the healer's den and had insisted he didn't want to get Orochi sick, and he didn't want to start out with a fight.

"Well, I'm not sick anymore," he explained, taking a few hesitant steps toward the other boy. Head slightly lowered, cautious. He didn't know if Orochi was actually mad at him or not. "Got a clean bill of health today!"
