All Welcome
He hadn't meant to wander from the safety of the borders, but it had kind of just happened. He had been chasing a rabbit, so focused on it that he had sailed right over the edge of territory and continued on into the woods that hugged this side of the borders.

But then the rabbit had disappeared, mostly because he had no real hunting skills, and he had found himself curious about this new place. He had never been outside of Easthollow before, and though he was little nervous, he continued to explore. There were so many new smells here that it was a little overwhelming, but soon he found himself near a small stream and he gladly walked into it. The water was shallow, so he plopped down and lazily took a drink. It was nice here, he thought, and peaceful enough that his anxiety started to fade a little.

A wide bowl of grassy expanse opened up underneath the ridge, studded with boulders and pines. The air was soft and musky, drying grass a heady scent on the wind. Stepping from the shadows of the trees the white wolf let her toes touch cool earth as her eyes swept over the land. In the distance, tall peaks rose with gray and white streaked caps, giving rise to forests that had turned dark with the coming winter. Her pelt was fluffed up, a puffball shape moving down to the bottom of the ridge as rain began to drizzle from cloudy skies. An equally gray river winded the curve of the glen with smooth rocks strewn about its' border.

Her travels alone had a purpose- Ivev felt the strings of a silent world tug at her insides, and every time she closed her eyes light spirals danced behind her eyelids. And for the present, the female could see a mottled white figure amongst the banks of the stream. Her movements towards the stranger were unassuming and non-threatening, a mere establishment that she meant to harm. Standing on the opposite of the water, Ivev lifted her tail for a simple, once-over wave.
   "Hello there, young one."

The presence of another made the boy tense. All he could think about was that day on the borders with the weird stranger. He half expected the pack to come sprinting out from the trees to attack this wolf, and he glanced around warily a few times before realizing that probably wouldn't happen. The tension remained in his lanky frame as he focused back on the pale woman. It was then that he realized she had actually greeted him, and anxiety settled heavy in his chest. He wasn't mute as he had been when he was younger, but he was definitely selective of who he chose to talk around; right now, that list consisted of only his most trusted family members.

So, instead of saying anything in return, he just watched the stranger, his muscles tense and his expression uncertain as if he might bolt at any second. One wrong move, and he just might.
