Short, quick posts are fine! Sorry it took me so long to get the thread up!

Super vague on date; I think you asked to backdate?

The golden crested male was found this day upon the scarred mountain, the autumn sun beating down upon the pale colors of his pelt as he loped across the barren land. He followed the scent of another wolf, his expression set in its ever-stoic state as he moved along the trail, staying alert for a glimpse of their form ahead. He would spot the dark form of @Astara eventually, though he was yet a fair distance from her.

thank u for starting - sorry for ME taking so long to respond!

at some point, astara became aware she was being followed.

she picked up a similarly paced lope as her pursuer, one ear cocked back as she made her way uphill.

through a thicket green with winterfern, astara passed -- and in the temporary aegis of visible cover, made a wide loop that doubled back through the trees.

should her pursuer, whoever he was, follow her scent, he would likely first delve into the weald where astara had obfuscated her tracks.

lying in wait, the blackbird watched with ears pricked and breath baited in quiet, stealthy rhythm.

While scent had initially led him to her, it was sight he followed mostly now, her slinky black form disappearing into a realm of shadows that breathed malevolence. Turning his head, he cast a glance back at the white raven that sat upon his shoulder, protective of his friend in such a way that had him bid @D'Artagnan up into the trees with a quiet murmur. He would be safer there, at least until this encounter was said and done.

Shoulder relieved of its feathered weight, the man stepped carefully, cautiously into the thicket, chuffing quietly to grab the attention of the pitch-draped woman should she still be in the vicinity.

Small cameo!

He had been enjoying Stjornuati's company lately, far more than any other wolf he had encountered thus far in his life. He had funny sayings, with a strange yet charming way of speaking...it also helped that D'Artagnan was treated like a God amongst mortals by both he and the fellow wolves looking to settle at the Watch.

So the raven had made a habit out of perching upon the pale wolf's shoulder, accompanying the man on his many patrols and outings.

This particular day had Stjor seemingly on the hunt for another; an interloper? He strode through the territory with a decidedly focused gait, Dart bobbing along on his shoulder, until a shadow appeared ahead of them. The glance and mutter he exchanged with the wolf was all that was needed, and with a flutter of wings, his companion took off into the branches, out of reach of the claws and teeth of hostile wolves.

He would, however, keep guard from above, watching on diligently.
Feel free to skip Dart in group threads as needed

behind her, a flurry of feathers taking flight.

astara paused as she listened, gathering intel where she might. when the footsteps tread closer accompanied by a chuff, the blackbird pivoted on slim legs and regarded her pursuer with lips skimmed back in a toothsome grimace.

he was tall, muscled, and clothed a color that reminded astara of subcutaneous tissue; creamy fat girdled by darker gristle and tallow -- a pair of organ-mauve eyes.

and where was his bird? she saw no blackened shadow in the trees, and in so missed entirely the leucistic bird whose talons wrapped around a limb above.

the rook gazed to the treeline briefly before returning to the man before her, tail risen in quiet threat.

The creature before him was breathtaking, a wild and feral thing that eyed him with potent aggression, a reminder of the women back home. Even her silence favored their ways, her show of threat without using words to muddy the snow. Carefully, he would shift his head forward, nose working as he took in her scent, a musk wrapped in that of many others. A pack-bound woman, it seemed. For a moment, the star-eater was disappointed.

A single paw was placed before him, slowly shifting his weight to take that first step towards her, though not in trepidation. His movement was purposeful and non-threatening; he wished only to venture closer, after all.

tension lingered in the wide gap between them. astara watched the northerner distrustfully, eyes hard as he lifted his muzzle and drank of the bitterly cold air.

no doubt extracting from the rich scents that swirled around them her health, her station, and her allegiance to the wolves in the wildwood behind them.

astara would not have being approached so brazenly by so hale a wolf. she mistrusted his presence immediately. he was lean but too well-kept to be alone.

as one paw raised, astara's tail raised in equal measure -- and when that step was taken towards her a rippling snarl thundered her muzzle like a peal of thunder. come no closer.
