I suppose so, she said against his fur, her breaths still uneven as she tried to recover from her crying. Her eyes were puffy and her throat was dry, and she cleared it a little, still holding herself against him. She was silent for a while, not moving but also no longer crying. She felt as though she had cried years worth of tears into his coat and had been unable to stop until there were no more left. She drew in a deep breath. Thank you, she offered finally. Then she lowered her head to rest it partially on her leg and partially on his. She was exhausted from the trip, from everything that had happened, and now from letting out all that she had been keeping inside. But she was also content, and she felt safe as she always did with Taikon. Even strong wolves like herself needed to feel safe, especially when showing such a vulnerable side. She drew in another deep breath and released it slowly through her nose. Her eyes lids grew so heavy that she eventually lost the battle to stay awake, falling into a more quiet and tranquil sleep than she had experienced in a quite a while.

He listened quietly as she spoke, pressed into him. There was something odd in him. Something he'd remembered from before, but solidified in the moment. He couldn't place it, couldn't understand it fully. Her silence gave him a moment to digest the feeling, and he feared that he might... no. It didn't make sense as he thought of it. He pushed it aside, for the illogical had no place in his world, at least not the thoughts from himself.
But he breathed as she did, and he nodded as she thanked him. He knew exactly the service he had performed for her, only to him it was no service; this was all of him for her. While she rested her head partly on him, he breathed slowly, calm, sure. They were beautiful in that moment. He placed his head on the ground between his paws, beside hers. He could feel her warmth, and it was so pleasant and sure. He drifted with her in the current, carried by her sleeping breath into his own dreaming.
They were perfect.
