One heavy step before the next, the bear squinted towards the sea's horizon against the biting wind, colder than any she had met this season. To her, the winter had been gentle so far, and the temperatures too mild to justify the deep sleep yet when she felt so dissatisfied, and restless to match. Hungry, but for more, and an itch she could not scratch alone.

For now, solace came in the windbreak of the meager trees as she passed through the woodlot, still attempting to trace the coastline. It had worked before. Skuld only paused to give her hide a mighty shake, loosing sand and dampness from her outercoat and saliva from her jowls, then resumed her lumbering search on. All else, inconsequential.

She was to travel to Neverwinter for an alliance, but something struck Umbra as an oddity. Something felt amiss in the territory, and such conscious brought her to the sentinels. Burned and demised, such a place held surprisingly quite a few meals, and surprisingly a herd to call forth. She didn't know of that until Wintersbane brought the factor over..

But what she saw there was no deer, but a beast. Umbra bristled in a snarl as she looked upon the bear, a guarded stance to contemplate what to do.. But she knew it needed to leave.

Skuld skimmed her snout low, occasionally brushing it into the forest floor's litter, though ultimately turned that nose up to everything she would find. No trail good enough to satisfy, and therefore, not worth the effort. Onward, she resolved to travel, until this changed. One step, then another, on simple, endless, drolling repeat...

She only stopped up slow when a canine-shape had appeared newly visible between the trees. It warranted a long, deep sniff to narrow her disinterested stare that centered upon her company. Wolf, indeed.

Just one? Just enough to whet an appetite, honestly, and hardly worth the hassle. Distrustful of the things and all they could represent, but keenly aware of her own advantages over their ilk, Skuld wondered if more would crawl from the woods next. She knew how they worked. But over a single case of dog, even one stancing up for her, she was hardly bothered, and started walking towards it.

There was slight fear that coursed through Umbra as she watched the bear move closer.. With each step it came she moved back, a growl endlessly heard from the wold, and ears pinned back. As a Sealord, she was ready for the war ahead that would come for winter, but thought to be safe from the predators that hibernate.. But this one dismissed such cause.

But it seemed fate was definitely against the Stormbound Alpha, as she kept going back without looking, her paw felt the inching toward a restless rock. Upon hitting so did it, alongst with herself start to slide off the cliffside that led to the bay. She fell once before into the pits of the ocean and survived, but Umbra was no immortal as she so wished to claim, nor' a God of the seas that she no longer believed in.

Tumbling down the kraken go, disappearing from the cliffside and falling to the beach..

With a crack, she was no more.

Just a black duchess with a red carpet surrounding her so.

A final breath, as the curtains draw.

The bear lumbered forward, moving closer, and pressing the littler predator back by sheer presence alone. So at least she was not stupid. Skuld had encountered all manner of canines, some brave, some cowardly. Some with hardly a thought in their head. She started to wonder which kind this one would be, all darkness and seasalt, as even her approach warranted this.

Not about to let up so soon, just when she dared to feel half interested in this outcome, one errant rock and one step too many ended it all far too soon. That was worth a stop as she watched the wolf simply vanish over the edge, disappearing down to what she assumed was shore, beach, or close enough to it to know she wasn't going too; Skuld didn't need go look over that ridge of earth (and like hell if she was going to bother with going down there, not even for a meal or the temptation of a suffering wolf), and accepted the loss of interest even if she hated it, grumbling low and irritated to herself. The sea took a treasure from me, she glowered.

Disappointed, she grunted and turned to keep going. She would follow the trail the wolf had come in on, knowing where there was one, others follow. Maybe this was only the beginning.
