He sets to marking the borders soon after everyone is settled, determined to show his commitment to leadership early on. After his first experience at the tree with @Rowan, he's decided he can trust his co-leader. It's rather fast for Zephyr, but the experience had been daunting and intimate, shoving them out of strangerhood and abruptly into the realm of friendship. Likely for the best, if they're going to lead together.
He stops to mark a tree, wondering where the other boy is now. It hasn't been very long since he last saw him, but he can't help wanting to see more of his mysterious co-leader. He's been drawn to Rowan ever since he helped him through the whispers of the Daedra, as if the experience had bonded them somehow. Or maybe it's just him; he can't know if the feeling is mutual, and he won't ask. Questions like that never come out with anyone but Phillip, no matter how hard he tries.

Rowan trailed quietly through the woods.
Searching for fallen messengers.
Or Zephyr. They've both been busy, and Rowan wanted to get to know him better.

The events of their first meeting forged a bond of sorts between them.
It made him feel warm. Removed his loneliness too, though he was never really alone in the woods.
He licked his nose and sniffed the air.
The whiff of one on border patrol drifted to him.
Rowan trotted towards Zephyr's last mark and followed it around to the source; the one themself.

He chuffed softly, slowing his trot as he drew up beside his co-leader.
Tail wagging softly, and a shoulder bump for greeting.
"How's it going?"

Rowan appears as if summoned by his thoughts, greeting him with a warmth he hadn't quite expected. He likes it, though. He briefly presses his nose to his co-leader's cheek, offering a faint half-smile. Things have been quiet, He says, grateful he's able to give that response. He continues his walk more slowly to allow Rowan to catch up, and after a few moments, he adds, Maybe we could hang out for a little while, since there isn't anything going on. He hasn't ever invited anyone to hang out, at least as far as he can recall — but he likes Rowan, and the boy will without a doubt be an important figure in his life in the days to come.

Quiet? Not in these woods.
Slow, however. Yeah, that was the right word for it.
The days drawed on and the nights crept.
It was a wonder the world hadn't stopped.

But to 'hang out'? What did that even mean?
Climbing or somethin? Surely not.
"Yeah sure. But, uh, what does that even mean?"
His head tilted to the other boy. It was probably something really simple he was missing.

It seems Zephyr isn't the only one with inexperience in this area, though Rowan is even more oblivious. He doesn't mind, though. It makes him feel less alone in the matter. Uh — it's like, spending time together, and having fun, He explains. Maybe we could do something together, or... get to know each other better. I haven't really done it before. It feels weird, outlining how this whole friendship thing is supposed to work when Zephyr isn't even truly certain he can pull it off. But he does take some comfort in their shared oddity, at least.

Rowan tilted his crown to his co-leader. He himself didn't seem very sure of themselves, but that was just how it was gonna be.

"Hell yeah," he grinned. Oh that was easy he did that all the time with the other Blackfeather kids.
And he only knew one way to do this hanging out business.
"Let's play a game or something." He grinned, thinking for a moment. The albino crow fluttered into view. Bastard.

"Tug of war?" There'd be a gppd stick somewhere around here for that.

gonna close this up so we can have updated threads <3
Maybe it's weird to be disappointed when Rowan shows a spark of familiarity at the explanation. It seems to Zephyr that he should feel relieved, but he isn't. He just feels more alone — but at least one of them has experience with how this works. So he agrees to Rowan's suggestion, though it's a learning curve for the wraith. It's fun, though, and that's what matters. At least, that's what he tells himself when all is said and done.
