Kyn has been too antsy lately. His teeth are itching to kill. He misses the sweet smell of blood and the thrill of battle. Or at least a battle with a worthy opponent. Prey animals are not ‘worthy opponents’ to him and he wants a damn fight. What with the upcoming war, the anticipation is real. His nerves are frayed and he contemplates venturing further to the coast just to find someone to sink his teeth in. Yet, he can’t find himself to leave his wife and pups.

Speaking of his beautiful wife. He’s hungry (in more ways than one) but he desires a hunt. It’s been a minute since he and Simmik went on a proper hunt together. So after he pees on a few more trees near the borders, he trots to the den.

Moving close to Simmik he smiles, is a weak, rough smile, he’s more irritated than anything. Only because he’s been constantly thinking about the fact he hasn’t tried killing anyone in a while. Of course he’d never take it out on her though. So he paws softly at her and a proper grin shows on his maw.

“Alright, babe, let’s go drop the pups off with @Arlette and go on a hunt. We need some you and me time.” He hums cooly.

She was spending the early evening as she did most days: laying outside the den with the boys and watching them play and explore the area close by. She appeared relaxed, and she was to an extent, but she was always watchful; her gaze periodically swept the area around them, her ears twitched at the slightest movement in the trees, and she never let her guard down, not even when one of the boys asked her a question, or she needed to scold them for fighting or wandering too far. Still, she was able to enjoy the moment; she loved any quality time spent with the children.

She heard her husband's heavy steps before she saw his large, muscular form emerge from the darkness of the woods that surrounded the well-hidden den. She silently watched him approach, her gaze appreciative as it roamed over his body. She hadn't missed how restless he had been lately. She could see the tension in his face throughout the day, and she could feel his edgy energy leaking out whenever he was near. She hadn't asked him about it yet, because she had a feeling she already knew why. She had revoked her permission to sleep with others, and she figured it was starting to get to him. It wasn't like she had ever turned him down, it was quite the opposite. The children made things difficult, of course, but that was how it was when you had kids. Their needs were her first concern, and Ky's needs were often second. It was starting to take its toll on him it seemed, but she wasn't sure how to fix it. She wasn't ready to lift her ban, and she was giving him as much of herself as she could manage currently.

The tension was there again in the lines of his smile; it wasn't his normal, light-hearted, playful grin. There was a harshness to it that made it seem almost forced. Guilt swelled in her chest, but it wouldn't budge her on her decision. She would just have to find another way to help him relieve his stress.

She sat up and nuzzled under his chin as he began to speak. He wanted time just for them. He wanted to leave the kids with Arlette. She hated the thought of leaving the children, but she couldn't deny that some time alone with Ky sounded nice. She kissed his cheek and smiled up at him. That sounds nice, she said softly. It had been a while since they had hunted just the two of them.

She stood and stretched, rubbing her body against his chest like a cat. She called to the boys and waited for them to come scrambling before them. Telling them they were going to spend time with Arlette and her children, she looked to Ky and waited for him to lead the way.

When he approaches he gets a bright smile from his beautiful wife and that alone brightens his mood some. Though he can definitely feel her staring at him. It doesn’t feel like her normal stare. It feels like she’s dissecting him and he wonders if his bad mood is showing through. Yet, as he begins to speak, she reaches up to muzzle him and he eagerly does so back. Brushing his massive head against hers softly as she stands fully. Her voice meets his ears and he knew she’d love some alone time. It makes his tail wag softly against atop his hips and his eyes brighten just a bit more. He can’t help it, this woman makes him terribly happy and it shows.

Then she’s running her body along his as she stretches and he can’t help but dip his chin towards his chest to watch. Golden eyes drift over her pale fur and her beautiful body. His smirk becomes genuine and he has to nip playfully at her rump as she moves along near the kids, shooting her a playful look as she does so.

They’re all ready to go finally and they begin the journey to Arlette’s den. It’s fairly slow because of their pups little legs, but they get there. Soon enough, Kyn and Simmik are on their way to track down some nearby deer. He even gets lucky and catches a scent fairly fast, bumping Simmik playfully with his hip to signal her to follow.

She hated leaving the children, but she knew she couldn't watch them every second of the day. She needed to take some time for herself too, even if it felt wrong to do so. Plus, she knew they would be well cared for with Arlette; she trusted the other mother completely.

It didn't take long for Ky to pick up on something for them to track and with a playful bump, he took off. She sprinted forward to catch up with him, and then slowed to a trot at his side. The wind brought the scent of deer, and she knew then where they were going.

They were like one unit as they tracked the herd through their territory. They knew each other inside and out, and it was if she could read his mind as they moved; if he changed directions, she was in step with him. If he paused to inspect the scent of their prey, she stopped too, completely in sync with her mate.

As they continued to move, the scent got stronger and the sounds of the herd reached her ears. She knew they were close, and her heart raced with excitement as adrenaline coursed through her. It had been far too long since she had hunted with just Ky, and she was looking forward to taking down their prey together.

As always, they followed one another step after step. It’s true, they know each other inside out and Kynareth is always impressed with how well tuned his mate is to him. Hell, he swears she knows him better than he knows himself. She can tell when there’s something wrong with him, she can tell when he’s irritated, sad, happy, horny, whatever have you. If he’s feeling it, she knows. He swears the woman has telepathy and reads his mind. Or maybe he’s just an open book and is really bad at hiding subtle hints of emotion. He believes both options.

So as they move, he finds the herd, knowing Simmik has the scent as well, they move as a unit. Stopping a good distance away, his eyes scan the ungulates for a smaller, or maybe, weaker pick. He licks his chops in anticipation, ears swiveling back and forth every so often, showing his desire to get the show on the road already.

Finally he spots one he likes. A smaller doe that stills holds the markings of a youngling. They’re very faded, but still recognizable if one squints hard enough. His tail wags and he shifts his body to touch Simmik’s.

“Young doe — the one on the far left near the buck.” He whispers to her, eyes full of bloodthirsty anticipation, they never leave the deer.

After he announces their target, he nods to her to follow. He stays low until he’s close enough to get the jump on them, but he’s uncharacteristically impatient. Constantly rasping a dark tongue over his teeth and whiskered lips; eyes zeroed in with dark excitement.

Without any sign, he jumps into action. Startling the herd probably a bit too early, he commences the chase, knowing Simmik will follow.

As in tune as she was with her mate, she could feel his overly-excited energy as he practically vibrated with anticipation beside her. She knew he liked to hunt, but this seemed a little off to her. She was afraid it would cloud his judgement. But before she could try and calm him, he was dictating their target and then he was taking off towards the herd. She stared at him with angry exasperation for a few moments. Not only would she had selected a safer target not so close to the buck, she would have waited and got closer before jumping into the thick of things.

Jumping into action, she sprinted forward, if only just to try and keep his dumb ass from getting hurt. As expected, things were a mess. The herd was stampeding all around them, making it hard for her to make her way towards him. She had to bite and growl and slam into a few panicked deer before she was at his side again. He had somehow managed to find their target in the midst of all the chaos, but the young doe was sidled up next to the buck who was casting worried, yet warning glances their way as he fled.

She was faster than her husband, so she reached the doe first and thrust herself up, her teeth snapping and grabbing a hold of her shoulder before she hit the ground and rolled. She landed on her feet, and flung herself forward, glad to see that she had tore a nice chuck from their prey. The blood spilled down the deer's leg, and she limped as she tried furiously to get away. Simmik wanted to get this done as quickly as possible—before either of them got hurt.

Kyn doesn’t ignore her frustration, but he’s already gone before he can acknowledge it. And, as expected, he hears Simmik just a little ways from him. He looks back to catch her intensely focused gaze, he looks at the buck as well.

He switches his target momentarily — to protect Simmik. He watches her go for the doe, slipping behind her he rushes towards the buck just in time. The male had inches towards Simmik, perhaps in an attempt to protect the doe, but Kyn isn’t having it. He snarls and snaps at the bucks hindquarters. Drawing a bit of blood as a warning, but with his warning, he gets one back. The buck kicks him one time real good in the shoulder. It makes him stumble, but he doesn’t fall. Rather he snarls out another aggressive growl and bites again. Lunging towards the male and knocking his body into him. That causes the buck to stumble, but he too, doesn’t fall. He gets the warning though and by this time Simmik had already bitten a chunk from the does shoulder. She’s slowing down and he has no choice but to leave her. He’s gone.

With their threat vacated, he turns to the doe. Running at full speed, he bumps her with a burly shoulder as well. This time, she can’t do anything but stumble and roll to the ground, gangly legs trying to help her up. He doesn’t even give her the opportunity. He’s on her in an instant, deep growls rolling from his lips and a deadly determination to kill set in his eyes. He snatches her neck up and shakes. Instantly a crack sounds out and her body convulses. He keeps shaking though. So aggressively in fact that he head disconnects from her shoulders.

Her body falls and her head drops from his maw. He stands, bloody tongue falling from a wide, panting maw. His adrenaline fading, he favors his right foreleg. Blood dripping from his drooping lips, he stands there and pants aggressively, ribs expanding quickly over and over. Finally he looks to Simmik, gauging her reaction. What will he find?

It all happened so fast: first she was sprinting towards the doe again and then fear filled her chest and squeezed her heart as she saw Ky leap between her and the buck. He clearly had his wits about him enough to try and protect her from something she could have dealt with on her own, and now he was taking a hard kick to his shoulder and she couldn't do anything but watch it happen. For a second, she couldn't breath; she tried, but her lungs wouldn't respond. But then she finally sucked in a breath and chased after the doe and Ky, who had managed to chase the buck off despite how poorly this was all going.

She braced to jump at their prey again, but then Ky was there, wrestling the injured doe to the ground. Simmik skidded to a halt and just watched as he ripped into the deer. He shook her and shook her until her head fell to the ground, detached from her body by the force of his attack. That part wasn't unsettling; in fact, she found his brutal violence sexy. Maybe that made her fucked up, but she didn't care. What had her furious was everything that led up to his attack on the doe.

Her gaze snapped to his shoulder as he limped, and when it found his face again, she was met with his uncertainty. She closed the distance between them, looking more closely at his injury and tightening her jaw in anger. That anger bled into her gaze as she finally looked up to him once more. What the hell was that? she asked him. You were reckless and sloppy. What if he had died? What the hell was she supposed to do without him? I know you're a better hunter than that. She looked at him expectantly, waiting for him to explain his behavior.

As he settles and turns his gaze over to his wife he can already see the look she’s giving him isn’t good. He almost shies away from it — like a pup who knows he’s done wrong. His ears shift back as he continues to pant, droop mixed with blood messily dripping from his opened maw and tongue.

Yet, when she closes in and demands answers, rasps his tongue along his chops before opening to pant again. He looks down at the deer then back at Simmik, clearing his throat before speaking.

“I know,” He trails off, still trying to get his breathing together. (He’s gotten a bit out of shape.) “I just, uh-“ He shrugs dumbly before wincing at the pain it brings. He sighs finally, closing sun kissed eyes for a second. “Just been irritated lately. Been sitting too long.” He explains, planting his hocks into a sitting position. “I want to fight again. Like actually fight, not spar — but kill.” Then he murmurs begrudgingly- “and I’m out of shape.” He ends with a huff.

He turns to her and moves to brush his face along hers, accidentally smearing more blood and a bit of drool on her. He licks her muzzle once before moving back.

“Forgive me, babe. For being sloppy.” He asks, giving her his best puppy dog eyes.

As usual, her anger was met with a sheepish look. He was so impulsive; sometimes, he just did things without thinking it through. Time after time, they had been here, fighting about some bad decision he had made, yet he never learned.

At least he had answers for her. His answers were not quite what she had expected, though. She thought he was going to complain about not being able to sleep with others, but no—he was restless and needed to fight and kill.

He took a seat, and she let out a long sigh, shaking her head. She let him nuzzle her before standing up on hind legs to gently pushed him with her front paws. She wanted him on his back so that she could be in her spot on top of him.

Assuming he obliged because he always did, she took her place, careful not to touch his sore shoulder. Her anger had all but fizzled out. Simmik licked some of the blood from his face before stating: You should have said something sooner. She nuzzled his neck for a few moments and then met his gaze, her own filled with fire and anticipation. If killing is what you want, then we will find you someone to kill, she told him. Surely there was some loner out there waiting to be found by the two of them.

As he explains, Simmik takes a seat before him. As he finishes, he watches her sigh. All he can do is look back at her with anticipation dancing in his eyes. Not quite sure what she’s going to say next.

Then she’s softly pushing him with her paws, he doesn’t question it, he just listens. Allowing himself to roll to his side and fall to his back. Now, something else shows itself in his gaze — a different kind of anticipation. She crawls on top of him and he relaxes his limbs and body beneath her, a soft smile coming to his face. He moves his non-tender paw to rest against her side as she licks his face, he licks her back.

When her eyes met his he felt his loins stir at the look she carries. Oh, god. That’s sexy. He can’t help but think. She assured him they could find someone for him to kill and in that moment, he knows that Simmik is meant for him. She knows all of his needs, his desires, his mannerisms. She knows him oh so well. She’s so accepting and kind, unless she needs to be rough with him, and usually it’s because he forces her to be. Due to some dumbass decision he’s made. Just like now. He honestly doesn’t know how she puts up with him.

Love and adoration fills his canary orbs as he looks up to her. Lifting his head some to sensually lap at her lips he chuckles softly.

“You really know how to make a man fall in love, huh?” He purrs, but his eyes speak volumes. Such genuine love and emotion rich in the swirling golden depths. “I love you.” He blurts out then, serious with his confession. “You know that?” He asks softly, despite knowing the answer.
