Having followed the trail of the east wind as far as he was able, it was time for the wolf to delve inland. He did this without fanfare.

 Beach sand gave way to a crumbling clay path and the resulting efflorescense soiled the cream of his stride, which did not bother him in any vain sense, only for the irritation of the lingering cloud that tickled his throat. His coughing could be heard across the plain. 

The stillness was broken only by the sound that he made, or the sight of his jacinthe figure against the hazy backdrop of fading green. 

Around him, as he crossed finally from a patchwork of tinder-dry grass and towards the figment of a tree, Nuiruk found himself dizzy rather than thankful for the general pleasantry of the season.
