the forest had just begun to turn, verdant hues withering from green to pallid yellow on the cusp of fiery autumnal hues. the shadow had seen nothing like it, and regarded the marvel quite warily. where another child might wonder at the change, she distrusted it. the unknown, she had learned, was often unpleasant. but that did not mean it bore no cause for investigation. quite the contrary; if there was danger to be had in the forest, the shadow would sooner know it than not. so she sniffed uncertainly at tree trunks and picked her way among thinning foliage, all the while mindful of the potential nearness of alduin the saint or the gunmetal boy.

amongst the ever-thinning, ever-blazing leaves sat the treachery of three. two idly picked at their glossy feathers, while yackle stood at the edge of a branch with eyes peeled. searching, searching…
…there!
they croaked gleefully, alerting the others and gesturing them closer.
wolf, chistery uttered with uncharacteristic enthusiasm. do you think-?
wolf. yackle placed all their attention into the blot amongst the autumn hues. look at me, wolf!
chistery’s speech
killyjoy’s speech
yackle is accompanied by their flock at all times unless stated otherwise.
