All Welcome
She was gone.

Blueberry had gone hours, even a day or so, without seeing her mother before—but this was different. And now, sniffing around the border where her mother's trail faded out. . .and then following it, and finding it going farther and farther away. . .

She was gone.

She wasn't even sad. Well, she was. But she couldn't separate it from the white-hot anger that overtook her, the affront that seized her entire being.

How dare she?!

Maegi had told them she loved them, that she cared. So had Mou. And now, both of her parents were gone, one of them with no word at all.

Blueberry returned to the base of the caldera and sank down, toes clenching deep within the ground. She gritted her teeth, but it wasn't enough to muffle the shriek of rage that escaped her. She scrabbled at the earth, digging a small hole before flinging herself into it, as if she were making her own grave.

She cried, but it was betrayal more than grief that seized her in the moment.

The sound of crying wasn't something that Fennec historically would mess with, but that was just another change that came with parenthood. It clearly wasn't her son doing it but still she caught the edges of it and let it lead her to where Blueberry sat.

Without paying too much focus, Fennec recognized the scent and sat down nearby, stretching and reclining in a warm patch of sunlight. She wouldn't engage, but subtly listened for a sign she was calming down. Fennec wasn't aware yet that Maegi had left, but she was aware that her intrusion might not be welcome. And if it was her, she'd have bit the nose off of any stranger who tried to ask what was wrong.

She hoped the approaching footsteps were Vesper's, but she wasn't about to get so lucky. She lifted her head and saw a russet figure through bleary eyes, and promptly buried her muzzle into her paws again, her sobs beginning to slowly ease into occasional hiccups.

What d'you want, Blueberry asked flatly, nose clogged and voice thick and heavy. She rolled onto her side, still curled into a fetal position, and her gaze rose to stare at the wolf once more.

The girl thought she'd seen the other around here and there, but honestly, she hadn't paid enough attention to be sure. Smelled like a Redhawk, must be a Redhawk. But it wasn't her mother, returned from wherever she'd gone, and it wasn't Vesper or Bronco, 'neither.

So fuck it all.

To sit down. Fennec responded from where she was relaxing. Her tone was baldly direct, no real humor to indicate if she was joking. She wasn't; if this girl didn't want to talk, Fennec would use the time to grab some rest.

But I'm not the one crying. What do you want? She asked, as casually as if she'd just asked about the weather. If she answered, Fennec would shoot the shit with her, figure out what was wrong and either sympathize (the easier route) or tell her why that was fucking stupid. (Since it was likely about the caldera not being home, surprisingly, she'd run with the former. She knew what it felt like to miss a place).

Either way, she'd hang out here sharing the space until the other girl took off or it got too late and she had to hit up other things.
