All Welcome
Now that he could finally get some sleep at night, the pieces began to fall back into place. He hadn't expected the nightmares to be satisfied and quit simply because he was finally sleeping alone, but he'd take it. He felt refreshed in the mornings- for a few seconds at least, before the weight of knowing that he and his mate were practically estranged settled in on his shoulders like a weighted blanket.

But he couldn't concentrate on that. So he went down to the lake's edge and began to make his way along, seemingly patrolling the area around the beach the way he might've patrolled a border. But it was a good way to spend the morning, checking to see what prey animals had come to the lake for a drink in the dark of night, leaving behind their tracks in the soft mud.
