@Samani

Twins had taken quite a different paths in their development. Where Samani was beautiful and took the well-trodden path of a proper puppy-hood, Kau was her opposite, who attempted to stay on the track, but often veered to either side of the road. She was physically deformed in a way that some might have pitied her. The beautiful coat spoke of an unfulfilled promise of, what Kau could have been, but would never achieve.

Lucky for her she was blissfully unaware of, what others thought of her, even less of, what was expected from her. The upside for being the weird one in the family was that you could get away with a lot of unorthodox stuff. People never bothered her with inquiries, why she was doing stuff. They accepted the fact that the stuff was done, because Kau wanted to do it. Now, for instance, she had dug out at one corner of the randevouz's site, where she lied in with a colourful rock in her jaws, growling at a threat that was invisible to all but Kausiut.

Their rendezvous location was comfortable enough. The young wolf had taken her time wandering the area and searching with her dark nose. The scents were all Moonglow, but different. They did not smell at all like the homey fragrances of the birthing den.

Samani slipped from the shadows of the den and into the chilly autumn air. A short distance away, her sister was lounging on the ground and growling fiercely at an enemy that appeared to have been constructed from her mind. The rosy figure watched carefully. The jewel jade of her eyes fixated on the rock in her sibling’s mouth, the sound that her fangs made she worked her jaw against it.

Samani sniffed in the immediate area and found a robust stick. She selected it with her teeth and moved beside Kausiut. Once she had found a space a few feet away, she lowered herself onto her belly and placed the stick between her paws. Her eyes did not shift from her sister, or the stone Kausiut had claimed.

Time from time Kau would spit the rock out, only to roll on her feet, pounce at it or dig out from the loose sand it was hiding within and finally with her toy secured firmly in her jaws, she would slide down on her side and roll around in the hole again. When Samani approached with a stick in her mouth, Kau did not react right away. Without moving herself, she followed her sister's trajectory with her eye only.

She chose to settle nearby and Kau gave a warning growl not to come too close. However, that thought was interrupted, when she lost grip of the stone and it slid further down in her throat, obstructing upper airways. Kau panicked, got to her feet, caughed and retched violently, until - luckily - the rock slid out and fell on the ground. She looked down at it in an offended silence, then turned to Samani and focussed her gaze on the stick.

If enough mental pressure was applied, just maybe she would get the toy without too much struggle.

Samani was not unaware of her sister’s romping, or the concerning noises that she made as she retched up the rock she’d been playing with. The sunsoft child gnawed at the end of her stick and continued to watch Kausiut until her sister had found an eye for Samani’s chewing material.

The jade-eyed girl knew that she was at risk. Kau had all but entirely lost her concentration on the rock and her eyes had found the sturdy stick in Samani’s grip. The peachy figure batted her eyes carefully, keeping her sights trained on her sister with cold intensity. There were no intentions to struggle against the tornado of a child. Samani was wary, guarded, and she did not believe that Kau would be able to secure the stick without a challenge.

After several seconds had passed, Samani lifted her head and squinted sharply toward Kausiut. The narrow length of her muzzle was drawn high. Her lip curled to reveal a pale puppy fang before she lowered her head again and chewed on the stick end.

Well, if asking politely (by Kau's standards it meant staring the person down and making them believe that "You.Want.To.Give.Me.This.Toy!!!) did not work, the girl was not going to shed much tears about it. Far from it. She went from being calm, calculating and diplomatic, to going to war. She pounced at her sister, aiming for her scruff, intending to grab it and then allowing things to unfold themselves. In her limited experience, there was nothing morally wrong taking something by force.

The challenge had been made, thrown down like a gauntlet in the dirt. Kausiut did not hesitate to take it, moving toward Samani upon her twisted foot. The peach did not hesitate. She continued to gnaw at the stick, following her sister’s movements with wary jade eyes.

Kausiut having a deformity had never struck Samani as being odd. No, her sister did not look like some of the other children. She could not walk quite like the others, or even like their mother and father. It was clear that there were key differences, but they did not register to Samani as deficiencies. Kau was just as dangerous as any other wolf could be. Perhaps, she was even more so. There was a determination in Kausiut that was difficult to shake.

The girl’s fangs found Samani’s nape. The slim girl pulled her head away, feeling Kau dig into her skin with the point of her weapons. The peach growled softly, gripping the stick tight and moving to conceal it from her sister’s sight. This is mine, Kau… Samani gazed coldly toward her sister.

Kau was always ready for a fight, best if there were no limits on, how far one could go. But she also had learned the limits of her strength and, when action was not going to bring the desired result. She may not have as much energy as others, but she was mastering the craft of spending it wisel. It was clear that her initial plan of dragging Samani off the stick was was not going to work. They were roughly the same size, her sister was better built and heavier and practically inmovable, if she decided so. Chomping on her nape for too long or hard would mean she would eventually scream and an adult would intervene. And Kau had endured enough of wolf-manner-learning tactics for especially naughty children not to wish to have a lesson of it now too.

Therefore she decided to let go of her sister, clambered over her and then got directly in her face, trying to lie on top of her and thus make her move.

The hold on her nape was released.

Samani turned her head toward her sister with a stern expression. It lasted for only a moment before Kausiut began to clamber her way to where she could face Samani directly. The weight of her body on top of the peach was bothersome, difficult to withstand. Somehow, Kau had found her foot embedded in one of Samani’s ribs. The lean girl felt her lip curl warningly, an instinct that had bubbled up from the irritation that she felt in her gut.

Stop.

The word was sharper than Samani had intended. She glared at her sister. With a grunt and a hefty shove upward, the girl hoped to toss Kausiut from her back. She did not like to be mauled so openly by her sibling. Not over a stick – her stick.

Kausiut sensed Samani's discomfort even before she spoke it out loud and attempted to shove her off. Rather than backing off, she took it as an encouragement to continue, until an opportunity presented itself to get, what she wanted. The stick. She growled in response, refused to shift, but grabbed a hold of, whichever body part of her sister's was available and bit it just hard enough to feel pressure and the pinch of her teeth. Maybe that would make her move.

Little rascals! uWu

Kausiut bit into Samani and the slender child yelped in shock. She felt a surprising wash of anger surge through her. The stick was no longer at the front of her mind, no. She had found a reason to feel violent. It was an emotion that had never claimed her, not before that point. When Kausiut dug her pointed teeth into Samani’s flesh, the moon child swung her snout sharply toward her and snapped with her fangs.

It appeared that Samani did not care where she struck. She only wanted her sister to feel the same pain that had been inflicted on her.

If Samani had thought that an equal act of puppy-violence would deter Kausiut in any way, she was very wrong. Kau did not understand the concept of "stepping in other's shoes" - if she hit you, and you hit back, she would hit you again and would not stop even, when it would become a full-scale brawl. She liked playing rough and jumped at opportunities of doing so.

Had her sister not given in to provocation, completely ignored her and given Kau a cold shoulder - that would have worked way better. Since she had given the devil her little finger, Kau did not hesitate to grab the whole arm. Samani managed to bite the side of Kau's face and the girl retaliated with breaking free and attempting to land a bite on the other's muzzle.

If you like - we can play out the fight at "Tabletop" through dice-rolls and then write a summary here.

I tried the roll! I'm not quite good at the randomizing events with dice portion of the game. I saw people were rolling to see if their hits would land? I kind of just did that in there and tagged you. Hope that's alright with you... ^^;

Kausiut was able to free herself from Samani’s initial bite. The moon child did not anticipate that Kau would retaliate so swiftly, or with such force behind her bite. The mark landed on Samani’s muzzle and tore the flesh away. She yipped in surprise at the sharp pain. Instinct caused her to recoil, trying to remove her features from out of reach of her sister. The stick was clutched tightly, guarded like the last piece of meat in a cache.

When Samani set her sights upon Kausiut again, fire had ignited in the jade of her eyes.

The peachy figure swung her head, aiming to crack her skull against Kau’s and cause her sister’s ears to ring. If this was successful, Samani would move to snap her teeth around her sibling’s ear, intending to cause the same manner of pain that she had felt in her snout.

Samani succeeded in grabbing Kausiut's ear - quite forcefully. She yelped in pain and fury, and shook her head to free herself. Needle-sharp puppy teeth scraped along the auricle, until a larger pressure of the jaws made the skin break and cartilage tear. Bright red blood was seeping from the wound, when Kausiut finally freed herself.

With a roar she charged at Samani again - stick now fully forgotten, but with every intention of punching some holes in that pretty pelt of hers.

Kausiut yelped, surprising Samani. The young girl had forgotten about the stick, though it remained clutched awkwardly in her paws. The blood that appeared on her sister’s ear was brighter than she imagined it would be. The young girl found herself too shocked by it to prepare any kind of defense.

When Kausiut charged into her, Samani took every sharp bite. Her sister’s teeth found purchase in her several times over. The young girl was overwhelmed by her adrenaline, outraged by her sibling.

At last, Samani pulled away sharply from Kau. The girl’s lip was curled over her teeth. She did not give Kausiut a chance to catch up again. Samani turned and stormed away from their playing grounds with a scowl upon her face. She did not want to see her sister anymore.
