the eagle had arrived upon the edge of the caldera to call upon sovereign ruenna.

germanicus had chosen the words that he would say. they would be honest. respectful. somehow upon his journey he had gained some specific courage. and he had thought of how best to explain what he believed to be a predilection for the masculine.

but when the silver wolf had come to the caldera and found it empty, that thin thread of strength evaporated beneath pragmatism. germanicus had not yet opened the doors of said predilection and followed its root. it remained neatly categorized as he surveyed the wolf-barren land.

he was not surprised to see it. but the lady redleaf had not come to akashingo. he took in the age of the trails, noting each one.

the eagle departed when he had found his direction.

it felt as though it were a clear missive. perhaps the silent withdrawal of her proposal. but germanicus did not think that ruenna was an individual to leave things unsaid.

there was no sign of violence. he lingered in the wilderness until dawn grew once more, circling the caldera and gathering more notations.

daybreak came. he set a course for mereo.
