"Let me stop you dere." She said, with the same firm patience she'd spoken with a moment before when she'd told him to tell her the joke. She gestured with her muzzle, just to get her Maman's attention so she could ask her a quick question. She didn't take her eyes off Penn.

"Se même blag li te di w'la?" She asked, in a singsong voice, eyeing him carefully.
It can be assumed that if Chacal is speaking, she will be singing. Her speaking patterns will always have a melodic quality to them.

"li kwè fanm yo sèlman anfòm pou elvaj," erzulie trilled back to her gilded child, tongue lolling with amusement. "e ke nou pa anfòm pou dirije."
"but he be only jokin', oui," erzulie purled, heart galloping with a sadistic cadence. while she had no propensity for bloodshed at the moment, her ways may not be the ones chosen by her daughter.
she herself wanted to pin the man and drag him through the tangle until he was a mess of bleeding cuts. let him hope that chacal chose more mercy.

"You wouldn'tve liked the end anyway..." Penn muttered to himself when he was told to stop, unable to hold his tongue. Being pinned to the ground was starting to get uncomfortable, but he was distracted from it when the two women began to speak to each other in alien tongues. He quirked a brow, looking from one to the other, wondering what on earth they were saying about him now. They seemed... amused? Maybe they found his insolence endearing? He was pretty handsome, if he did say so himself...

The tawny woman confirmed his claim, much to his surprise. His expression lit up in a sweet, innocent smile that he turned from her to the younger girl. Maybe this wouldn't end so badly, after all? He somewhat doubted this would end in the threesome his hot-blooded male imagination was beginning to fabricate, but maybe, just maybe he wouldn't die.

It was as she suspected. He was frightened of telling her whatever it was he'd told Erzulie, and when her mother explained, Chacal's features grew grim and she bristled. Erzulie implied, now, that it was just a joke, but she found something irked her about the way he tried to smile at her now. She didn't find it funny. She knew he hadn't been joking. And she didn't want some misogynistic pranker roving about, leaving this situation thinking he'd escaped, or joked his way out.

"Hmm. Yes, funny boy. I like jokes. You know, I t'ink dis funny boy would enjoy a tour of our packlands, Yes?" She said. Every bit of her hospitality was forced, so he might get the hint. He could take the tour, or suffer worse. She stepped aside, and snapped at him, urging him to get to his feet. "I insist."
It can be assumed that if Chacal is speaking, she will be singing. Her speaking patterns will always have a melodic quality to them.

letting the enemy inside? erzulie would not have chosen this. but there was no resistance in her, only a deepening interest. as her daughter drove the man to rise, the obsidian nipped for his scruff, implying she would be be closely present to enforce whatever punishment chacal had chosen for the interloper.
her eyes danced with the jagged nature of it all. "sapphique be blessed to have such a comedian," she chuckled.
the woman lashed her plume, intending to crowd him back toward the borders if he did not come willingly. faced with chacal's blazing expression, it would be the best course of action for him.

She didn’t return the smile, instead apparently growing angrier. Penn wondered if maybe his actual joke had been revealed somewhere in the gibberish they’d garbled at each other. No matter, he knew he’d dug his own grave on this one. He just wanted them to hurry up and figure out what to do to him.

He was about to make some suggestions, just to speed things along, when the younger female spoke again. Penn quirked a brow, utterly perplexed by this turn of events. A tour? The fuck? Were they going to bore him to death? ”Gee, that’s surprisingly hospitable of you,” he said as he was ushered to his paws and driven towards the borders, his little pea brain really taking its time to understand what was actually happening to him.

She made a point not to look to Erzulie too much, as she felt the seemingly oblivious male might cotton on to the fact they were indeed herding him, rather than simply inviting him along. So long as he didn't make any sudden moved, she walked alongside him with an easy step, her face criminally blasé and calm.

"Well, we are only 'ospitable when we see worthiness," She replied, ver voice a simple lullaby. She intended to flatter him. Her comment was accompanied with a brief, but appraising gaze. A secretly appreciative smile. She began her Sirensong.

"Dis be de realm of Sapphique, Sapphique,
Where de waves wash the shore,
toujours, toujours.
And de cliffs of Dragoncrest,
magnifique, magnifique,
where de lavender grow
encore, encore."
It can be assumed that if Chacal is speaking, she will be singing. Her speaking patterns will always have a melodic quality to them.

the man walked. chacal padded beside him. he mother flanked the male opposite the gilded girl, not close enough to touch. but enough to be an escort.
chacal's singing was sweet and rich. erzulie brought to mind the first time that her girl had ever created a song. and now she used them as her voice, these arias.
erzulie was quiet, appreciative as the borders of sapphique soon loomed before them — then fell behind the trio.

Penn wasn't inclined to fall for their sudden flattery and attention, though the threesome fantasy was rapidly evolving into a full on orgy as he imagined them taking him to the rest of their pack, which was made up in his mind of equally lovely ladies. They had been too pissed off, and he'd done nothing he could think of to redeem himself in the last five minutes that would explain the sudden change of attitude. Unless they'd caught sight of his junk when he'd gone belly up...

Huh. So. Maybe?

He remained extremely wary as he walked between the pair, even more so when the younger girl began singing to him. At another time in a different situation, Penn might've appreciated the beauty of it more. In the current climate, it was just plain creepy as fuck.

"Right," Penn stammered after a moment, "That was special." He forced a smile and a wag of his tail, then looked over at the older woman.

"Sooo... great tour--really darling little place y'all got here, can't say enough about it, but uh.. I really think I ought to head out. I mean, this place is so lovely, and really, I'm just a dark blight on such a shining star, don't you think? I hate to blemish the aesthetic, you know?" he grinned sweetly again, figuring if they decided to kill him for his cheek, that would at least be better than continuing his ride on this haunted carousel.

Chacal could sense his growing malaise, but kept calm as they padded along. He seemed to feel fear, and began to stammer about his worth being lacklustre. She gave his shoulder a firm nudge. Not so much to be lainful, but to hint that he would simoly be better off if he continued walking.

"Nonsense, we insist! Do not be rude and insult your hosts. You seemed so curious, coming to our borders before, I would not 'ave you miss out on de best part of your tour." She said, and with a quick look to Erzulie she nodded, so they might cue him to pick up the pace. The terrain had begun to incline a bit, and the sea air became fresher. With only a slight cant of her ears she could hear the waves again, and see the faint glimmer of light ahead through the trees.
It can be assumed that if Chacal is speaking, she will be singing. Her speaking patterns will always have a melodic quality to them.

there was something delicious about the man's fear. he had come so cocksure and filled with potent mindless ejaculate to her borders. and now chacal ushered him onward. she smoothly increased her speed at a glance from her eldest, keeping close to their guest's other flank.
this time erzulie did not speak; she only hummed a snippet of another song, inhaling the clean briny air of which she had always lived with such love. sapphique was a glorious testament to the strength of women. was this now something the male could see?

They rejected his request, which was not surprising. He listened to the rebuff and quirked a brow dramatically at the girl. Was she really going to tell him not to be rude and insult them when he’d already done that? ”It’s your aesthetic…” He muttered with a shrug before falling silent.

Penn followed dutifully along then, dropping whatever other pleas or charm he’d considered. He had no fear of angering them further but he’d decided to just resign himself to whatever fate was ahead. He’d dug his grave, now he just had to wait and see if there was a preferred road to get to it—make a break for it and have them tear him to pieces or just roll with whatever plan they had concocted that they were leading him towards now.

He seemed to be defeated now, and while she preferred to see him be a bit on edge, at least this meant he was willing to obey and continue forward. She could feel her heartbeat pounding within her chest, a gentle drum to her mother's hum. They drew nearer and nearer to the awakening crest of daylight that spilled through the trees until they reached the edge of the wooded area-

And came within reach of their beloved Dragoncrest Cliffs.

There was a gentle breeze and it sung of saltwater. While the waves soothed the sandy beach, they fell upon the wave-worn rocks below with a pulsing crash. The heave and sigh of the ocean against the land was like a great bellows, inhaling and exhaling dramatically and without end.

She gestured with a flick of her muzzle and a brief flash of her teeth, both a smile and a threat, commanding him to walk forward, toward the edge.

"Here be our throne,
where de view be de best.
Here, women rule,
de mighty Dragoncrest."

She uttered a soft growl, and squared hwr feet the way a shepherding dog might face a foe; prepared to herd him, step by step, toward the cliffs.
It can be assumed that if Chacal is speaking, she will be singing. Her speaking patterns will always have a melodic quality to them.

oh there was a seasalt and dazzling pride that bloomed with fierce branches inside erzulie's heart. she saw the moves of chacal, and she knew at one and fully that sapphique would be in protective hands with her daughter in leadership.
it relieved the woman; for once she did not think of the way her belly had been sick these past days.
she clicked her teeth at his heels, promising to skin them with an itching pain if he backed from the volatile siren's command.
erzulie wondered if his regret was searing. the day was beautiful; the sea rushed in her heart and in her mind. the breeze tasted of ancient and eldritch things.
the might of women, a gathering storm.

It became clearer and clearer to him as they moved what their intentions were. They weren't leaving a lot to the imagine, after all--steadily shepherding him towards one hell of a cliff with one hell of a drop down to one hell of an ocean. Penn's nerves began to fray further, though he held it together as they herded him to the edge of the cliff where he could finally look down and imagine his fate. On another day, in another circumstance, he might've considered a jump off a cliff like this to be a thrilling adventure and would've flung himself off by choice. Being forced into it by these creepy as fuck (though super hot) women was very different.

Probably because they clearly wanted him to die. He preferred his ventures to be more open-ended.

Penn stared down for a moment, considering in whatever seconds they gave him whether or not he'd prefer to die by being forced off the cliff or by just jumping. Not much question there, so he went with another one that popped into his head. "Real quick... Is it too late to apologize?" Penn asked, trying to keep the tremor from his voice by drizzling some humor over the top.

It only took a second for Penn to assess the looks on their faces to make his own determination. "See you 'round, ladies," he said as he turned back. If he was going to die, it was going to be his choice and not theirs. He swallowed the fear that began screaming through his blood and leaped before they could see him tremble, leaving nothing but a cheeky grin in his wake.

They say your life flashes before your eyes before you die. That wasn't true for Penn. All he saw was blue ocean rising up to meet him. All he heard was rushing wind. All he thought of was how this was probably going to hurt like fuck.

So there's your first hint that he probably didn't die.

exit Penn! hope it's okay that I snuck a conclusion on this for him <33
