njord had taken meerkat somewhere into his den. erzulie kept her distance from the young lovers for the time being. it was not green jealousy nor wan envy that kept her aside.
while rosalyn rested, her wife ascended into the pines and began to hunt the salt-trees. new snow had fallen and this covered fresh tracks. the obsidian wound through the boles, crossing a track that might have been earlier left by @Jorunn.

saying this is shortly after asmodeus <3

she returned with the slight musk of man.

only it was not what one would have expected this time of year. it was the coppery tinge of the blood she had taken from him on her breath. the musk of the furs she had ripped from that raw flesh.

it was not a perfume of love, but of war.

now she wished to wash it all away in the waters of sapphique, to curse his name and think only of the memory of his blood on her teeth. except she wept would not make it where she intended to be before the obsidian was in her presence.

and jorunn could offer the smallest of trill wordless greeting sound, eyes cast out towards the sea.

the smell of an unknown male was here, lingering on jorunn. but it was not the scent of fever or coupling. she caught sight and sense of the blood, and drew closer with a knowing look. she did not pry nor press. she only too looked out toward the sea.
"you be angry, jorunn," she murmured after a time. only an observation, and not one hung with the expectation that the granite answer.

angry.

it consumed her entirely, it crawled over her skin and devoured her from the inside out. unlike anything she had ever felt before. jorunn had not been born with anger in her veins, but here away from home it had taken root. sapphique was the only place it seemed to hush.

i should'a known better.

it was all she could think to say, to hope that erzulie might understand.

"no matter how much a man might seem, he will not fit your heart if it loves women." erzulie watched the other's face and then turned back to the waves. "you see how de ocean always returns. no matter how wild she be. no matter how loudly her voice might sound. she always calms. she always comes back."
a breath.
"very few men are able to do de same."

a lesson to be learned.

she watched the ocean come to life. how its waves rose like the breathing chest of a woman. the way it seemed to beckon to her with its waving motions. but she had seen those calm moments, low tides where the ocean presented her gifts to the sea wolves.

she thought of the men she had had dalliances with. none had done the same as women always had for her, had they?

strong forces who cared for each other. gentle grooming, soft spoken words — and erzulie was right. even if the harshness of women presented itself, it always calmed. jorunn thought of that.

asmodeus had driven her to such an anger to take blood.

not once had jorunn ever done such.

i love the ocean, she whispered out on ragged breaths.

i have only met her but…she teaches me much. she has become a new home in these wild places. she is not wolf, but when i see her, i know.

she remembered what erzulie had said.

jorunn had not understood the salt waters until she had come here, and in these healing moments the salt water filled the cracks where her heart had become jaded.

"let her be your healer an' your teacher. let her guide you." on impulse erzulie straightened, and with the air of a woman who has thrown off her garments, she strode confidently through the pines to where the land descended in preparation for the sea.
it spread dark and promising before she and jorunn. the salt was cold and the waves lapped the smooth shore. in their wake, even during winter, shells had washed up here. she did not look toward these.
erzulie waded into the shallows and looked toward her companion.
"let her shock you, jorunn."

jorunn did not think twice.

she moved in her entrancement towards the salty sea's embrace. not once had she experienced something so strong. the cold that flooded her bones, the salt that embedded further into her fur and the waves that kissed along her legs and belly.

she came alive in that moment.

copper eyes alit with joyous discover in the way the sea felt. a shrill sound escaped her, but not one of panic or negative emotions at all.

simple delight.

a welcome change from her blood-drawn anger.

even the sea sought to steal the blood that jorunn had earned through her anger.

and erzulie watched.
she saw the change that the icy brine brought to jorunn.
she herself was happy enough to follow, throwing off her control and slipping gratefully into the current as if the frigid waters were the embrace of a lover.
she swam out into the dark channel, willing jorunn to follow. she would only take the other as far as their paws could still touch the ground below, no farther while storms threatened the beach.

their paws may have remained fixed to the bottom, but jorunn saw it fit to dunk her head below briefly. to be submerged fully and welcomed deeper by the sea she had called home. she would not see it in her to shake her face free of the sea water, there was no point!

she was surrounded by its embrace, why whip the water that clung to her away?

she could not find the words in her, she could not even think very much beyond the sway of the sea that tugged her into a melodic flow. she only hoped erzulie would see the warmth on her face that rivaled the chill of the waters.

she saw swiftly the way that the sea consumed and soothed jorunn. she knew it would be so and such a touching of the spirit was unknown by men. she watched the granite baptize herself in the waves and knew that the salt would pull bile from the ends of her nerves.
was that not why she was often embraced by brine herself, frosted in the winter with cold-hardened spikes of white; whilst in spring and summer the sea clung to her in delicate lacework.
and it would do so for jorunn.
the sea was her first love.

i think this could be a beautiful closing spot? <3

welcomed.

embraced.

cherished.

things she had not felt entirely under the frame of asmodeus. mockeries of such things, the sea told her. no man had touched in the way the sea did.

jorunn would not forget this.
