Wild Berry Meadow Bursting with Joy... Juice

@Akavir

With the bison of the Hoshor Plains left alone, as their likelihood of becoming Paeon's meal on her own were impossible, Paeon wandered further down the Kintla Flatlands. Here the plains turned into a meadow. A sweet-smelling one.

Paeon followed the scent with her nose and soon laid eyes on a great meadow of wild berries. As Paeon entered the berry bushes she felt as though they engulfed her. She did a full circle and all around her berried clung to their branches.

Not knowing where to start Paeon simply sat down, closed her eyes, and reached out for a mouthful of berries. Their juices burst in her mouth and her tail thudded against the ground.

He had bled. He had been patched up. And then he had changed his location to rest privately—unbeknownst to him that the healer had been linked to the guardian of the forest, and still, there had been an inkling of suspicion in him that he would not be safe if he remained.

And so Akavir drifted further from the incident, finding himself a hollow near a field where for days he slept—a fever coming and going, his body processing the injury to his flank and the myriad of others given to him by the black rogue.

And when he finally woke, he was stiff. A quiet groan escaped him as he forced himself upward, his tongue feeling like sandpaper in his mouth. Pain flared up his hip and along his backside, but with a quick glance of his eyes, he could see he would heal, eventually. For now, the stiffness would remain.

When he came to a large field, champagne eyes fell upon a tawny she-wolf, circling her find and enjoying a mouthful of berries. He craved water—wanted to bathe in it. But he was in no position to be picky, and so the Mayfair bent his muzzle down, sampling a berry and considering the flavor as it burst in his mouth, the first bit of liquid he had in days. While doing so, a wary gaze was kept upon the other wolf, ready to leave should any threat occur.

As she ate her lips became stained with reds and blues joining together into a vibrant purple lipstick. Turning her head within the bushes the sound of rustling was constant in her ears. However, as she pulled her head back and bit down on the gooey berries the sound continued. She turned her head and saw that a dark stranger had joined her and was having a meal of their own.

He ate slowly and had his eyes glued on her. She continued to chew and watched as his eyes did not cease or move away from their target. She looked down to herself for a moment and then returned to look at the dark stranger. "Do I have something on me?" she asked with a level of seriousness and a hint of sarcasm.

The sardonic question did not draw a response from the dark shadow right away. He continued to graze, quenching his thirst in the best way he could for the moment. Suspicion continued, and so his champagne coloured eyes didn’t leave the she-wolf for very long.

She seemed to think his caution humorous, and he finally lifted his muzzle, withholding the flinch of pain outwardly as his muscles screamed in agony from his injuries. Just not looking for another round of anything, he finally admitted, unsure if she chad even noticed the wounds inflicted upon him… though he couldn’t imagine anyone would miss them right now.

Vulnerability didn’t sit well with him.

Another round of what? Paeon thought. From where she was branches from nearby bushes obscured the full figure of the dark male. She stood up and shook off her pelt before taking a few steps toward the male. Then she was them, the wounds on his body, and she stopped in her tracks.

"Dang, something got up good. You feeling alright?" she asked. Perhaps she would get him something to help with his wounds she thought.

He motioned to the dried herbs and poultice on his bruised body, unable to keep the corner of his lips from twisting up in a small smirk. “Dang indeed,” he muttered, rolling his shoulders back and trying to stretch some of the soreness from them—it didn’t work.

“I’m good for now. Someone else tried to patch up what they could… Sorry ‘bout the smell.”

Then, because he looked to try to nourish his body as best he could, the shadowrunner swept a few berries to his mouth with his tongue, his brows creasing as the juice burst into his mouth. Swallowing with a light grimace, he huffed. “You like this stuff? Or am I eating the wrong ones?”

Luckily with her muzzle covered in berry juices their sweet scent masked whatever wounded flesh smelled like.

She giggled a bit as she saw his reaction to the berries and then heard his comment. “No, your eating them right, but they taste far different then any kind of meat. Those I supposed some boar and certain fish have s sweet taste, but not at all this strong. They take some getting used to… although they would probably be good for you if you have any inflammation left… or… are backed up at all.” She said giggling again referring to berries fiber quantity. “Just don’t have too much, especially if you aren’t used to them their acid can make your stomach feel funny.” She offered.

She was amused, it seemed—the small giggle perhaps at the expense of the man’s face as it twisted with another bite of a berry and the taste that invaded him from it. At her caution, his eyes grazed over her, considering—the last thing he was keen on was a stomach-ache to become the cherry on top of a rather daunting journey.

A few more were forced—trying to quench the thirst as best he could until he came upon something better. When done, the man began to recline slowly, holding back a flinch from his injuries, instead, his eyes back upon the she-wolf. “You seem pretty familiar with berries and such.” A simple statement—wondering if her knowledge came only from the life of a rogue or enjoyment of what she currently ate.

He lowered himself and she took a step to the side before taking a seat and reaching over for another berry as he spoke. "I know some basics I would say" she responded to his question of her vegetative knowledge. "The pack I'm from is filled with masters of all different kinds of trades, being around them so much I picked up a little of everything" she explained.

Though her true mission was to become a specialist of her own and make a name for herself. Having a baseline wasn't something to feel bad about.

“Sounds like a decent place to grow up,” he offered, though even he knew it was quite an assumption on his part. ”For gaining knowledge, at the very least,” he corrected, his shoulders lifting in a shrug and then a light grimace at the stiffness and pain from such a simple gesture.

This would be a long road to his own healing.

He knew he should keep going—but right now, the only thing he wanted to do was rest a moment. And so his gaze lifted back to the other, studying her as she reached for another berry with quiet contemplation. “You from around here?”

"I aspire to one day go back" she remarked as he offered praise to her home pack. She spoke with a few berries in her mouth "It's tradition to leave and return after overcoming great challenges and attaining notoriety. To start my journey I first had to find a place far enough away that I wouldn't have any home territory advantage... so it's not close by" she said with a smile, getting another mouthful of berries.

"What about you?" she left the question open happy to hear any answer he might provide.
