All Welcome
perhaps, of the litter born to antha and issorartuyok, once of atautsikut, raelle had fared better than most. they had all suffered when their sole remaining parent, their mother, went missing, but of the four, only raelle had found her in the end. she did not know where her siblings were now; she hardly remembered them.
and mom... she was gone. raelle had still been a bit too young to understand death fully, but she'd been forced to understand it. the woman who had once seemed so eternal, so constant, had simply... left. she went to sleep, having been wounded and feverish for weeks, and she did not wake again.
but she had cared for raelle to the last day, and had searched for her missing children, even as she slowly descended toward that inevitable end.
all that was left of her now was the children she had left behind. and raelle was determined to survive, even if her mother had not.
even when faced with circumstances like this one.
she had come to the lake for a bath and a drink; she certainly hadn't expected to be set upon by a vicious opportunist. a wolverine, intent on an easy meal - but raelle refused to let it be all that easy. the beast pursued her, and she made a clever show of her flight, kicking rocks and climbing rises only to turn and snap at her attacker, but fled all the same.
all the while, she had the sinking feeling that the wolverine could keep up this game much longer than she could.

Aquillius was a restless thing, often wandering in and out of the den at all ours of the day and night. Half of his family was gone, and with little know-how in how to process that, he made up for it with work.

Day in and day out, he worked, pushing and pushing until he was so tired he couldn’t think. And today, he pushed farther than he normally had, past the borders and out into the mountains around Mereo.

It was in the flashes of distant color that he got a glimpse at what was occurring. A young woman, perhaps around his age, pursued by a small violent tornado of a creature.

Wolverine. Aquillius was frozen, shocked stiff, unsure of what to do. He sent up a yodeling yell after a moment’s thought, both as a warning to the young woman that he was here, and maybe a call back to his father. He wasnt quite sure yet as he sprung forward, charging like a raging bull in pursuit.

simply because he had mentioned it to lady meadow was germanicus down the rocky path once more. perhaps it was a foolish reason.

he had come simply to see if he had been misinformed about the flora therein. it had been some time since his arrival.

and today it was serendipitous.

aquillius' voice rose in warning. the eagle was swift. the oily scent of wolverine was in the air. he bore down upon the creature, jaws spread for the side of its head. he hoped to deliver a hard blow with his body as well and send it tumbling down the little rise here.
