All Welcome
Tiny petite paws thrummed against the ground. The cold chill in the air, a small shiver worked from her maw to her tail tip. The thick fur of her body staving off most of the cool, but it was still rather chilly. Snow fell around her face and ears, coating her nose and her eyelashes in pretty crystals of water. She was on her way to clear off the worship places. Her tail moving to and fro as she loped.

There was a lightness to her movements, a gentle tilt to her head. She was enjoying herself, just existing and being and learning. It was nice to speak of others and to others. She smiled to herself as she continued towards the sacred place.

forward dating to 20th december <3

the need was; sleep.

it once came with ease, and required rediscovery here. placing a densite was paramount.

a foxhole, hidden within a mound within a copse of birches, did the job well-enough

large paws got to work digging it out, making room for the mass of winter fur that a chow chow bears be it well-groomed or not. it was not easy work, quickly melting the benefits of a meal what @Ingram had provided upon descent to the plateau.

the sounds were; shuffling of snow and loosened dirt hitting its kin already removed.

Ash Paw had heard of new faces, new creatures. And today she came upon one such. A dog beast wore down by hard living it seemed. Skin and bone perhaps, but incredibly furry. She was different than even Ash Paw. Her face squashed and strange.

Hello. SHe chuffed

Then she stood a bit of a way's away she didn't wish to have someone come at her and attack. She didn't know this beast. She could be unfriendly like some of the other members that made up their little pack.

the sound was; a greeting.

ears, rooted, could turn only slightly towards its source. the head had to follow, take a good look at the one coming close. no alarm, merely bland want to know.

a wolf. patterns that made up their fur were as unto a dog ( more reasonably, as unto something inbred or mutated ). far smaller than the one who led basilica. blue-eyed ( why were they all? ).

from the digger; a chuff in return.

and then back to the hole it was.

Ash Paw stayed rooted to the spot what was this bear dog thing.....she didn't understand, nor did she really like it, but well here it was. So what was she to do about it. Ingram must have seen some worth in it. Though thus far, Ash wasn't very confident.

Not a talker clearly. She chuffed and went back to what she was doing. Ash had to bite her tongue, hard.

She perked her ears forward. Would you like help? I'm Ash Paw.

it seemed the other - this 'ash paw' - was to be affixed to the task at paw. the digging ceased.

another look over the shoulder.

"sure."

and a quarter of steps was taken to the left, leaving space for the wolf to occupy the empty right.

the digging continued.

There was not many words and that was okay. Ash Paw moved into place, and began to scoop out the dirt, widening the edges as she did so, and packing the ground down.

It wouldn't do to have the den fall in on the poor girl. That would be quite awful and she didn't know exactly how she wanted it. So she just worked at it.

The calico didn't stir the silence, simply worked. If the bear dog wished to speak, well she obviously knew how.

the work went slow.

ash paw did not hinder it, understanding the simple vision. they each dug in silence; first with a space between their sides, then with winter coats pressing into one another. their warmths, their breaths, merged, providing insulation against the cold. the work went on.

soon the denmouth gaped wide.

a paw dusted with grainy dirt, lightly pushed the wolf aside. the snout, sniffing heavy, dove in, followed then by mass of fur.

this time, the entry was smooth. from within the foxhole, came a satisfied snort.

"thou... hast been obliging, ash paw." said the voice, body reemerging until only its front was out. "woulds't thou..." and the maw parted, remaining so.

but no words came.

the silence stretched out.

"like...to enter...?" an awkward gesture towards the depths of the den.

The work was slow, however, it was honest. And as always Ash Paw found simplicity in the work. Her mind was free to wander, and then wonder onto herbs and Atka and sos. The coming seasons. Anything, her heart desired to lean into.

She was pushed from the way, though it was gently. Then she simply waited. A small smile on her face. She waited.

The woman stared at her after speaking two lines, her mouth agape. A wrinkle in her already rolled face. Ash Paw's brow was raised, unsure what she wanted to say.

Ash Paw gave a small smile, Certainly. Perhaps we can find you some pelts to line it with.

She would enter behind he beast. Help her to widen it if she so wished.

foxes had left a spacious chamber. it took far less to widen it for comfort of two small bodies. thoughts went to preparing the space...

they were let to extinguish. a seat was taken against a wall. dim light and poor vision made of ash paw a smudge; only eyes shone in the underlight.

"thanketh thee," was spoken to the helpful. "whatever... might thou require... as recompense?" and a heavy brow rose.

It wasn't too bad in her den. Ash still liked her own, that she had made comfortable as possible. With her herbs and her furs. Draped it all about.

You're welcome.

Ash Paw frowned in thought. Do you know much about healing or worship? I would simply ask with help finding herbs or helping me to take care of our sacred spaces with sacrifices and offerings. would that interest you?

beneath te ridges made of flesh...

an eye shone at the mention of sacrifices.

"... aye." the great head slowly nodded. "these paws... they doth recall... intricacies of worship." and the named parts flexed against beaten dirt.

"yet... ash paw... whatever is revered... here... in basilica?" and the great head tilted to a side.

There was an otherworldly light to the dog beast in front of her. And  honestly it made Ash Paw a tidge nervous, but she pressed past it and listened.

It depends on who you talk too. We are open to different worships. I myself worship the bear gods Atka and Sos, Dreadfather worships the daedra, most specifically he is the god sithis made flesh. God of the void, the dead, the veil.

Ash Paw nodded. However, if you have your own worship we don't see fit to ban it.

"dreadfather."

now light glinted off the other.

"whatever else... may thou say... regarding... him?"

the pronoun seemed hardest thing for tongue to push past lips. he. fleshbone saint. above such nonsense!

Ash Paw didn't know what to tll her. Dreadfather was an enigma a mystery even to Ash Paw. But she could try.

He reads the bones our leader. Speaks to beyond the veil. LIkes the night and the dark things. Prefers to ferry the dead across the void. Goes by many names, Sithis, Ingram, Dreadfather.

She frowned. He is determined to make the pack thrive.

in eagerness, the mass had leant forward.

in realization, it retreated.

"hm." another nod. "these ears doth hear."

"...yet, ash paw. how doth thine gods... co-exist?" another lift of the brow.

another pause.

then, spoken into empty air, unfocused, half-whispered;

"bears... these ears... hast heard..."

She leaned forward and then quickly back pedaled, it was strange to the mage. So very strange. But she shook her head at it.

Thus far they have co-existed quite well. I think because I make offerings to both. I may pray to mine, but sacrifices and offerings go to all of them. They all get tended the same.

You know of Atka and Sos? She tilted her downy head. She had not meant anyone that knew of such things in this area or ever really.

"nay." slow shake of head. "not... thine gods."

and the mass leaned back against the wall.

recalling the memories of bernadette.

"cult. dedicated, to worship of puissant bruin... ursine spirit." a paw rose in a vague half-gestured. "whilom led, by..."

black of lips curved.

"...a madman."

"yet," smile extinguished. "this, madman, were wisest, of all. only bearer of... ascended, knowledge. son... to this, bruin-witch?"

black of lips curved.

"...ignorant. blind."

"yet," scowl melted. "..."

"..."

"...forsooth. there were nay goodly trait, anent that wolf." and a heavy shrug.

Ash listened as the other beasts words curled around her. Soft and whispery, eerie. She hated it and also couldn't stop listening.

An ursine god, a mad man, a witch? So many things that were both horrifying and amazing all at once.

SO he was a seer?

Ash Paw listened and thought she had known her fair few witches, though she had stayed far away from them if she could. There was just something about them that spelled trouble. She didn't wish to have anything to do with Hoodoo, voodoo or any other type of witchcraft.

"hm. more a... missionary. if bruin-witch, truly beheldeth, visions, sounds, senses..." a readjustment of body. eyes full of thought, looking to some spot past the ceiling.

"...they were for bruin-witch only."

silence.

"ash paw."

"thanketh thee, twice. keeping, these paws digging." they flexed against the ground, wide and flat as unto a bear"this tongue, speaking." it rolled out, fat and black as unto a dead thing.

and the grin showed teeth, long-stained yellow.

"yet, blissful unconscious, claimeth all." a paw lifted to the exit. "tired ones, first amongst us."

IT seemed that this was her cue to leave. So with a small lift of her head and a dip of her  muzzle. She waved and left. Her mind was on far reaching things at this point. On the dog beast that now made her home.

BOut the creature she spoke of that sounded horrifying and yet Ash Paw could see how he would have commanded his pack. Fear was a hell of a motivator. Truthfully.

She shook her head and turned towards the sacred stones they held. She needed to pray on this.
